Didn't go to Jefferson Cup, but heading to PDA Spring Kickoff tomorrow. Wish the weather forecast was better.

  4. Jeff Cup- won and lost on saturday. they experienced a new trick in the 2nd game. maybe next time they will beat it. sunday...williamsburg was nice , LOL! they didn't show up to play and the opposing team did.

PDA- wow was it raw out there today? so glad it wasn't any colder. 2-0 for today. they played well. teams are just as tough as Jeff Cup. hopefully tomorrow will be a repeat of today. if they can win both, i will take a repeat of the weather as well!! :D

how'd it go for yours NT?

Yes, cold, wet and less than great soccer. Didn't take our chances. 0-0 scoreline in both games.

  6. lots of 0-0 and 1-1 games yesterday. it was slippery too. lots of wipe outs and splits. glad no one got hurt. i think ours might be mudders. lol.

57 and we might see the sun today. good luck!

  7. it was a good day at PDA! ;)

my only real complaint was that RV# 7 was very rutty. ball bounced everywhere. not a good field by any stretch. overall a nice complex.
REFs were great for 2 games, good for 1 and eeehh for another. they did a good job of keeping play safe. one game saw 2 yellows(not ours) and a bunch of verbal warnings. it could have easily gotten out of control. they were not afraid to throw parents out and did. competition was awesome and well flighted. results for our age saw ALOT of ties.

i understand it is part of the game but i am giving notice. to the players poking my daughter in the ribs and spine and punching her in the back hard enough to leave little round bruises or pinch marks ....my instruction to her is no longer to ignore you and play her game. it has changed to play your game and if they want to bruise you, BRUISE THEM BACK ! sorry but turn the other cheek only works so long for me. LOL!

We must have been next door to each other all weekend - we were on RB #8!

Fields weren't bad, considering the time of year, and the weather. We were not thrilled with the refereeing, however. A fairly young guy, and nice, but he did EVERY game on that field the entire weekend, from the first at 8:00 am to the last at 5:00 pm, and it was obvious by the end of the day (we had the 5:00 pm Saturday game) that we was not interested in calling anything, including clear penalties. That's PDA's fault, though, in my opinion.

What bothered me more was the forwards challenging my keeper on every ball - it's great that they followed up and were ready to pounce on any bobble, but our keeper didn't have any bobbles yet still got kicked in the head three times. Not even a warning was given to the forwards. But as I told the girls - referees are as integral to the game, but as uncontrollable, as the playing surface and the weather - they have to be accepted and dealt with as best as possible.

In the end, we didn't get all the results we wanted, but we went undefeated, with no goals allowed. We're pleased with that.

  9. all games on the same field and same REFs? yuck! as the mom of a player that has spent some time in goal, i wouldn't have been thrilled either. one of the cards we saw was for body checking our keeper. good job by your keeper for not getting rattled. can't say we had no goals allowed. nice job but i know ties all weekend is a little frustrating. last fall we had a 3 way tie. ended up 3rd by tiebreakers.

and it is what it is. sometimes with a little luck things work out good and other times they don't. there is always next tournament. this time we were lucky enough to be on the good side. :)
