WC 2014 Asian 4th round qualifiers draw

    GROUP A
    Korea Republic
    Iran
    Uzbekistan
    Qatar
    Lebanon

    GROUP B
    Australia
    Iraq
    Jordan
    Oman
    Japan

Ha ha Iraq and Jordan have been drawn together with Japan and Australia, with Oman as spoiler in Group B. If both of them qualify direct from this group then we can all look back and say China was unlucky to have been in the real group of death in the 3rd round.

Maybe I am seeking consolation but I have a feeling at least one of the two might just cause an upset especially when there are 3 teams offering mutual benefits of Muslim Brotherhood. Good luck Jordan and Iraq.

    China should be here lol

If they were in Group A, they have the quality to finish 2nd

If they were in Group B, they have the quality to finish 3rd for a play off.

I'm not so sure about that 2nd spot in Group A cfb. Assuming Korea Republic would take top spot in the group, we would have still had to contend with Iran, Uzbekistan, and Qatar; teams which I think would give us a LOT of trouble.

I'm talking hypothetically here, of course they could finish bottom of each group, but if they were to play at the top of their game in every match and all those balls that usually go 1cm wide and all those Hao Junmin free kicks that hit the cross bar and the posts actually go in, then, you know... ;)

Yes, I know, they'd find a way to lose.

    what a mess.

i'm under no illusions that hiring a "famous" foreign coach will change anything. we all know this but wasting money on big name coaches with limited interest and limited power won't do anything until a complete overhaul of our corrupt CFA.

    not holding my breath.

    Oh FFS!

Oi CFA, NO! Hasn't the Camacho experience taught you anything?

Plan A: Hire an obscure but foreign muppet.
Plan B: Hire a high profile, foreign numpty.

    Brilliant!!

    INTERVIEW WITH CAMACHO:
    (translation slightly modified)

Camacho, as the main head of U-22 team (when the fcuk did this happen?), was spotted at the U-22 training.

Reporter: According to your observation (on the U-22), do you realize any problems?

Camacho: It is hard to make a judgement when we look at them for the first time. This team needs most of the players to arrive and long training time before I could see any problem. (There are key injuries to some of the players)

Reporter: Will some of the U-22 players be called up for the national team?

Camacho: The next edition of the national team will have new young players aboard; but it is too early to say tell you when the U-22 players come play for the national team. The U-22 players need to play (consistently) for their respective clubs, than we will consider them.

Reporter: Did you give any suggestion to Fu Bo? (Fu Bo is the coach of U-22)

Camacho: Fu Bo is part of the coach team, I will meet Fu Bo and have a conversation with him when I watch the U-22 friendly against Malawi on April 25th.

Reporter: It was rumoured that you have been observing several CSL matches, what did you see from those matches?

Camacho: Guangzhou Evergrade and Guangzhou R&F have stronger tempos, so their rankings are higher. Regarding the Asian Champions League, Evergrande played fairly well at the beginning, but later, (I realize) the group`s ability is actually quite average. I will look at other teams later.

    (con't):

Reporter: Evergrande suggests to relax the foreign player restriction, what do you think?

Camacho: Most of the world's football league have a restriction on foreign players, I believe China's leagues need this type of restriction, this would protect the Chinese players.

Reporter: For the friendly against Spain, are you willing to let more young players play the match?

Camacho: This match we will use the players mostly from World Cup qualifiers :eek::eek:, because Spain is the World champion, we need to respect the opponent.

EAFF CUP UPDATE (EAST ASIAN FOOTBALL FEDERATION)

EAFF Cup (formerly EAFF Tournament) will be held in 2013 in South Korea. Former champion China has directly qualified for the tournament. The cup/tournament (whatever you call it) usually composed of four teams: motherland China, Japan, South Korea, and one more team from qualifying.

The qualifying usually includes: North Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Mariana Island (i might spell the place wrong), Mongolia, Guam, and Chinese Taipei.

Last edition was held in 2010 where China drew 0-0 with Japan (where Rong Hao became famous with his infamous softcore penalty ), China beat 3-0 South Korea for the first team (where Deng Zhuoxiang made his name), and China won 3-1 or 2-0 (i forgot) over Hong Kong (Qu Bo scored a double).
