I had the same concerns, so I tweeted Canetti about it. His reply..."Relax, the sod is only 3 weeks old. It'll be perfect in due time."
That was the thought at Red Bull Arena before the opening there, but as we all know now that wasn't the case in the end. I do Hope things are different in BBVA Compass Stadium case, it's just odd to see the condition the pitch is in now with 49 days before opening day.
We're going to have 80+ degree temperatures and sunshine for almost all of the next 50 days. I'm not at all worried about growing grass in Houston! For most Houstonians, the problem in life is that the damn stuff won't STOP growing!!!
May 5 is the STHs "Meet the Dynamo" event. STHs are invited to go watch the team practice at BBVA, there will be the traditional used equipment sale, and an autograph session. They are encouraging STHs to invite up to 4 potential ST purchasers (with phone number and email) to the event as well. I assume this will be the first Dynamo event held inside the stadium. Should be cool. And warmer than most of these events have been.
actually the letter says "unused" equipment. Probably because they haven't upgraded from last year-so deals might be hard to come by this time.
In addition to this, the grass today looks much greener than it did a week ago. The sandy spots will fill in with due time. Patience.
The Ball n' Chain and I had a looksy from the outside today. they were laying some concrete down around the sidewalks. scoping things out seems I will have to pawn some stuff in order to pay for parking on gameday because I'm sure them bloodsuckers at them fancy parking lots will want to make their Christmas money during summer. got me thinking that maybe Metro can run some orange busses from some Park & Rides before and after the games or something. like a shuttle or whatnot at least until they get that train running I'd pay 5 bucs for that.
Did you get season tickets? We need the return of the sombrero. With Ching back, that would be the missing piece to the puzzle. Hope to see you there!
yes,yes...in the corner front row but on the other side and to the left of the benches. 118 meh thinks. I forget oh, and be proud of them banners you took to the rallies. they show'd the world some of us Dynamo fans are regular Piccassos
Regardless of the concessionaire (levy, aramark, etc.) the reason for the high chicken strip price is that they pay a commission of 50% of gross revenue to the team- blame the team (who also approve all pricing) not the company selling the stuff, who make about 2-3% profit and are responsible for customer service and menu.
Nobody should be complaining because everyone is accustomed to paying high prices at sports stadiums in the US. I don't care if I have to pay $5 for a medium sprite, if I'm thirsty and the Dynamo are winning, I will pay it.
I absolutely love how it takes 2 guys to push a wheelbarrow around to fill holes with sand. One guy to carry the shovel and one guy to push the wheelbarrow around. Seems like I could make that much more efficient. The guy pushing the wheelbarrow literally just stands there while the other guys lifts the sand out. Maybe I need a new a job. I think I need someone to move my mouse while I type.
that is the dumbest idea ever-the wheel barrel pusher is crucial. His rest time is important to keep him energized to move it to the next hole. Besides your proposal makes too much sense to implement. You running for President or something? Mr. Paul is that you?
Could fill the hole with dirt...not sand. Not playing at The Rob anymore. Hopefully there are water fountains in the stadium.
I don't know any specifics here, but I do know that the Dynamo are working with their vendors to try to make food/drink pricing on the low end of the stadium range (which we all know is high). So think about the various pro-sports games you go to and the range of crazy high prices you've seen. The Dynamo want to be at the low end of that range.
