Fernandez shows what an attack coach like Makaay can do. Check out the first goal, it was a stellar touch by him. But now we need a qualified electrician to take out the wiring causing his fuse to blow.
He picked up a five game suspension for the head butt. Guidetti picked up an injury in training with the Swedish NT but it may not be serious.

Feyenoord fans are funny. Next they will say we beat PSV or Ajax once but got relegated. Give us the league as if it is on the basis of 1 match. The funny thing which should be a matter of shame for Feyenoord is that Feyenoord does fantastically against Top Teams but cant beat average/horrible teams. Sad really what happens to them???
the problem is that Feyenoord need to step it up when playing clubs at or beneath their level and then the possibilities are endless. Also, most results seem to be in front of their very vocal supporting crowd. They need to learn how to pull it off away from home.
Alas, we have to say goodbye to another former Feyenoord star. Wlodzimierz Smolarek (54) has died at a too young age. I wish Ebi and his family strength with this loss.
Another sad news of another kind. 17 year old Feyenoord top talent striker Jordy Toorenburg has decided to leave soccer, because he doesnot like the soccer world and instead wants to work in his father's business. Dammit.
It isn't for everyone. He isn't being forced into his father's business and in the end, that might be his calling. I would lose a player this way than the typical big club coming in who knows they can't develop their own players so why not take a player from a club who does well in developing young players.
Some happy news..Trindade de Vilhena has made it clear that he isnot going to leave Feyenoord, as he has a lot to learn yet...Thank you Lord for putting sense in his brain.
I realise that I just made a Feyenoord post in a different thread when this one is more fitting. Vilhena will be first team next season, but will have to contend for a starting spot all the same. Bakkal may be leaving and even if he doesn't, he disappears for long stretches in too many matches and that makes us weaker. Probably three players will contend for the #10 slot next season: Bakkal (if he stays), Vilhena, and Goossens. Our holding mids will continue to be Clasie and El-Ahmadi, unless El-Ah leaves and then Vormer will slot in at his spot. I personally would like to see Kelvin Leerdam get a midfield opportunity; he gets into the box and creates opportunities for other players. In the 3-0 win over Excelsior he had two assists and I think we need his attacking ability more than his defense. Janmaat will replace him at right back.
Attacking mid, #10, whatever. De Guzman held that spot at the beginning of last season and then was replaced by Gini Wijnaldum, who had never really worked out as a winger. This season it is Bakkal at the AM position. Feyenoord have had an AM (#10) as long as I have supported them (~16 years). Jon Dahl Tomasson played that spot partially, a withdrawn striker who plays behind the centre forward (Julio Cruz at the time). Maybe you have a different definition of a #10.
This season they're playing with Clasie as defending midfielder and El Ahmadi and Bakkal on the sides. There is no #10
Feyenoord is now out of the dreaded financial "Category 1" of the KNVB and into the safe "Category 2". The aim is to get into the "Category 3", the financially sound clubs. Feyenoord took their offer for a 3 year contract to Cabral from the table, as he didnot want to decide before the dead line Feyenoord gave him. Probably they are going to sell him.
