The second article was from Nov 29th 2011, about Robbie potentially buying 15101 Mulholland Drive. And moving out of the Ritz Carlton before Christmas According to Zillow its still available and wasn’t purchased. http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/15101-Mulholland-Dr-Los-Angeles-CA-90077/19990207_zpid/ I am guessing the Villa loan changed some of the plans. here's the house video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=_Xc1hj6ihto As an expat myself, my wife wasn't happy until we had a house to call home.
Yeah, and it seems like this is kind of similar to Posh in the beginning. I think maybe Claudine came here with unrealistic expectations, thinking she was going to be a media star and slide right into reality shows, late night TV appearances, etc. similar to their status level in Ireland and the UK, and starts to realize that isn't the case, I wonder how much that plays into it. I remember the Beckham reality special on one of those entertainment TV networks, supposedly it was going to kick off a reality series like the Osbournes or something, and never happened, yet supposedly Victoria was the one who most wanted David to re-sign with L.A.
I agree with all this, and think there's an added element that you come to realize over time that while there's less overall buzz to living in LA (you're surrounded by so many stars and famous people that athletes just fly under the radar more, especially soccer players) you can still have all of the events and publicity, but without the daily background buzz of being photographed wherever you go and scrutiny on your family. Once you get used to that, I think it's preferable to being in someplace like London where everyone recognizes all the famous soccer players and you can't go anywhere without drawing a crowd. Fame is fun, but wouldn't you want some space and privacy to raise your family in? The Beckhams have sure come to like it.
2nd goal nominated for AT&T Goal of the Week... Go to mlssoccer.com to vote! 2nd goal was pure class and I think he should win this week... Left footed laser to upper right corner... also his "weak" foot...
I voted for Keane before I even viewed the goals - but honestly I think Johnson should win it. He's on fire for Toronto.
An old joke about Keane only staying in Liverpool for a short time http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ne-ridiculed-Liverpool-exit-train-advert.html
i hope he doesn't jump on the Tottenham flight back to london when they Finish their tour this summer
If it was MLS where you have limited roster slots, DP players and a salary cap, I can see the logic in bailing on a player after six months (I'm looking at you Mr Angel). However, the reality of the sport is that players can take a while to bed in and reach their best. Look at Mike Magee for example, or Juninho. Keane wasn't even given a chance at Liverpool. To give up on him between the summer and January transfer windows was ridiculous, especially when you're selling him back to the same club for a few million less than you just paid for him. Some have said that it was all political as he was more the Chairman's signing than Benitez. Still awful business though.
Robbie Keane speaking on 710 ESPN (radio), starts at 21:39 Mostly just small talk (living in LA, adjusting to MLS, friendly with Tottenham later) Only interesting thing I head was about MLS' standing compared to other leagues. He mentions that he's been talking with some players in the UK and how they see playing in MLS as an option. He did say that those players are not looking for a retirement league but are in fact players near their prime. Don't know if he's just saying that to be politically correct or if he actually means it. http://espn.go.com/espnradio/losangeles/play?id=7741747

Not Robbie-specific, but the video features our boy pretty well. And the song doesn't suck, either. This is Ireland's official Euro 2012 song. http://www.worldirish.com/listening-post/view/official-euro-2012-song-released-996
Keane on Ireland roster http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/eu...angeles-galaxy-keane-ireland-roster-euro-2012
So Robbie has the potential to miss the following games based on the Euros running from 6/10-6/18 for Ireland: 6/17, 6/20, 6/23. I'm assuming that Ireland will not make it out of the group of death they are in. 5/23 (Earthquakes), 5/26 (Houston): potential for no Landon pending camp 6/17 (Portland), 6/20 (RSL), 6/23 (Vancouver): no Robbie. (6/23 I'm thinking would be a stretch, he'll probably want that off to recover) Obviously the Quakes and RSL games hurt us the most, though that stretch against Western teams is a bit painful. Quakes have the potential to be losing Wondo though.
Recent form: Keane over three games - no assists, 180 minutes (sat out one) Barrett: One assist, on Noonan goal, for our only point in 3 games, only a handfull of minutes. Not a lot to choose between off recent form.
Fair point. Still would pick Keane any day of the week. I have faith he'll come out of his funk. Barrett, permanent funk.
That's certainly the way it looks on paper, and I understand what you are saying. I am sure that's Bruce's thinking too. I am just incredibly frustrated that Keane as a DP is simply not carrying his weight and doing what we brought him in to do. What's the old saying? "From those to whom much is given, much is expected." Barrett has shown the ability to surprise from time to time, but he is neither as gifted nor as compensated as Keane, so I guess I am more forgiving of him that some fans are. It's hard to say he "disappoints" when he is in fact playing up to "reasonable" expectations. Not so much Keane.
