Del Piero is waiting on MLS, I suspect he really wants to end up in either NY or LA.

I would honestly prefer Leto over Jonas, but they both probably won't come.. in fact, ever name mentioned in that article is typical Ole humo, so I wouldn't get too excited.

I must admit that the idea of having Cavenaghi, Aimar, Trezeguet, and Chori together in the attack is amazing, though. It would be "los cuarto fantasticos" part 2.

Yeah oh I know this is the most sensationalized media market in the world.

and yeah that would be nuts, to be honest Im just intrigued by what another transfer season could bring. Theyve struck gold lately.

I would definitely prefer Leto over Jonas... but I don't want either. We need to take all our priorities to resign Chori and Cavenaghi, the rest doesn't matter.

As far as signings, the key should be a real goalkeeper and a 3. There aren't many good 3's in argentina, i can't think of any to be honest...

We need to be smart with our money. The Roger Waters shows (9 of them, all sell outs some tickets as much as 400 U$D face value) will supposedly leave the club with around 4 million US. What will the directors use it for? I hope to extend chori and cave or sign a serious goalkeeper

I agree that we need a left back, which is why I was asking in the Youth Teams thread if anyone knows if Diego Martinez (the kid that got promoted after Arano got injured) is any good. I am not familiar with him, but it might be better to give him a chance than to bring in another Arano.. lets remember that if we would have bought a defensive midfielder and a left winger at the beginning of the season, we probably wouldn't have seen much of Ocampos and Cirigiliano, who have been two of our best players. More often than not, actually, the players from our youth divisions perform at a much, much higher level than our reinforcements.

As for the GK, we should definitely invest in one.. Lux was rumored to possibly return, but I don't know how realistic that is considering his extremely poor relationship with Passarella. Carrizo was offered to us in January, and, as much as some people may have a short term memory and only remember his mistakes in the second half of the Clausura 2011, he has been our best GK since Lux's golden days (2004ish).

Who else could we go after?

Para el "campeonato economico" seguro.. al igual que todos los otros ingresos.

I'm guilty of really hitting Carrizo hard... I was his BIGGEST fan, but he really let me down, not just by the mistakes, but by his attitude surrounding them and the whole bust up with Pato Fillol, a true legend not just at River but in the history of the sport. However, right about now I'd die for him to come back.

As for the concerts, as much as it sucks and is annoying not to play at home, signing these 9 roger waters concerts in 2 weeks is HUGE money. IF (and i mean if) the directors use this money to the club's benefit, it won't be a big deal to play in Velez... lets just hope

If anyone of Funes Mori,Cirigliano or Ocampos is sold we should buy Romero,Barovero or Andujar they are lets be honest the safest Argentine keepers. At three in this situation Insua of Sporting Lisboa would be attainable.Hes a good player despite his bostero past.
But all this is a nice little distraction only one thing matters

Its all a distraction, but whats more of a distraction is the cavenaghi and chori situation. So far, Passarella has not contacted Sivori, the players, or Valencia on Chori's part.

I am not being anti-passarella just calling it how i see it. Its a major mistake. He should have at least contacting Valencia by now.

Obviously promotion is the goal, but everyone, i don't care if you're a football player or a grocery store worker, everyone works better when they know their future. How can you be truly concentrated on the work at hand when you have no idea where they will be in 3 months time. Anyone who has ever had a job knows how much more comfortable and productive you can be when you know you future.

I dont know if you saw it but Passarella has guaranteed Cavenaghis continuity. He said a big effort would be made but Dominguez situation is more complex. He also said he was to meet Sivori in the second week of March.I dont know if they met.I am sure they didnt tell the press about it.
I would certainly try to keep both and give Cavenaghi a long term contract.Dominguez has mixed the sublime with the downright stupid so I would not offer him more than two years

I wouldn't mind seeing Franco Costanzo between the goalposts again. I think he's free right now. Almeyda should've brought him in after it was reported we could bring in another player due to Arano's injury.

He has said a lot of things, but he has yet to DO anything.

    http://www.riverplate.com/Noticias/...o-contacto-con-river-por-chori-dominguez.html

Theres a quote from Valencia. Plus they were talking today on the radio how Passarella has made no contact with Sivori... I'm not saying he won't talk to him, but he hasn't yet. Until we see actions from the president and dirigentes we have no idea what his true intentions are.

Again, I'm not saying he won't, but I would like to see more urgency of the part of the president and his directors. Without Cavenaghi and Chori we would be a mid table team.

And Aimar is impossible. He was named Benfica's player of the year and he just signed a contract extension for a year. If he had intentions to come he wouldn't have signed and just come with his pass in his own power... Therefore Chori is the priority for the enganche role. There is no one else out there

According to the commentators in today's game, Cirigliano wants to leave to Europe in the next transfer window for personal reasons (I believe his family is doing poor financially, but I could be wrong about that). :(

Apparently River is looking at Yacob as possible replacement.

This sucks, it would be as if Ciri didn't even debut in River. :(

He did play in Primera though. I remember his debut under astrada vs. atletico tucuman when he played along side almeyda who was twice his age.

Yes it will be sad, but you can't blame him. However going for Yacob... well yes thats not to promising :(

There aren't many options, and we already got probably the best one we could (Ponzio), so yeah, I wouldn't mind Yacob (who, AFAIK, is still young).

Whatever about Ciriglianos personal problems,we now that the financial situation has improved need to adopt the Velez attitude to transfers. In other words we sell when its beneficial to the club. The player has signed a contract if he wants to leave he leaves on Rivers terms.

River has bought 50% of the Newells 20 year old midfielder Eduardo Straccia. He is currently with the sub 20 seleccion.Straccia is a Two footed central midfielder who could be an interesting prospect.

    http://www.riverplate.com/Noticias/...l-delantero-esteban-paredes-de-colo-colo.html

So according to La Tercera we are interested in Paredes of Colo-Colo.

I don't get what the point of this would be. Paredes would come free in June, but Cavenaghi is already playing for us and has his pass in his power.

I don't care how "big" a club Colo-Colo is, River is bigger and Cavenaghi knows what it means to succeed with la banda and this guy doesn't. I hope this is just one of the usual rumors swirling this time of year, if not i will be disappointed in the directors
