The match-up for the MISL title should come as no surprise. Baltimore and Milwaukee are clearly the class of the league, and this series should be a good one. This will be the 4th time that Milwaukee and Baltimore have faced each other for a championship, with the previous three meetings coming in 2003, 2004, and 2011, with Baltimore winning the first two, and Milwaukee finally breaking through last year. 2003- Baltimore def. Milwaukee 2-1 (12-19, 15-12, 13-12*) 2004- Baltimore def. Milwaukee 3-0 (12-3, 8-4, 6-2) 2011- Milwaukee def. Baltimore 16-7 So who does everyone have winning it all? What does each team need to specifically do in order to give themselves the best chance of winning? Game 1 is Friday, March 16, in Baltimore, with Game 2 (and possible Game 3) being held Sunday, March 18, at the U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee.
MILWAUKEE SWEEPS BOTH GAMES- I HOPE Yes, I hope Baltimore loses both games this year You play all season trying to get the #1 overall seed just to have the opportunity to win a Championship AT HOME in front of the most loyal and dedicated group of indoor fans today and what does the idiot Kelly do.. takes game 1 at home. Maybe he didn't want to be embarrassed and lose the Title in front of 9,000 fans again So the most dedicated fans in the game today get a chance to watch their team win another TITLE on a 17" computer moniter Yes Ken, I know the Arena is booked solid and this is not Kelly's fault.. Could of forced Milwaukee to play Game 1 Thurs night (2 days to sell 4,000 tix they could do) After all, they'll only get 5,000 on Sunday Baltimore only has 3 days to sell Fridays game Maybe this was the only way Lindenburg was coming back next season.. who knows. On a side note, you have the 2 best teams today playing in the Championship, will have a big crowd in Baltimore and the USL cannot find a way to get this game on Television? Next year right... never heard that before 15 Full time employees "working" in sunny Tampa, FL doing exactly what for the game? At least the website looks good for the 18 diehards who look at it
So much anger. Sooooo much anger. Hey, nobody's more disappointed than me that there's no TV. I don't know the story. Neither do you. (BTW, "that idiot Kelly" now has the highest overall winning percentage in the history of indoor soccer. FWIW.)
Play on Thursday are you for real , we just played on friday and sunday and you want the guys to ride a bus for 6 hours then have a hour drive home to get a day of rest to jump on a plane and play on thursday thats is crazy . and then jump on a plane and play agin on friday that is insane Taking game 1 at home is the best thing if the blast can win game one it will make the wave work even harder to win both games rember " Championships are won on the road " as most of the time this is the case
LMAO Baltimore must win this game on friday in order to have a chance if baltimore looses game 1 I would think they are out for sure , with a win and we screw up we still have a chance to win in the mini game
Okay, how about at least have a WEEK to sell the damn game. The season should have ended a week sooner, and give both teams 7-10 days to sell the Championship game- another mistake by the USL Baltimore will somehow get 6-8,000 Friday night, with AT LEAST half of that comped. Not to mention Healy will bring his 800 Baltimore Bays players and trot them out at halftime. (They are non paying tickets too)
Baltimore frequently (always?) chooses to play the first game at home when they have "home field advantage". But Milwaukee usually (always?) prefers the second game at home so the Blast are playing into their hands as well.
I just think this could be the shortest turnaround time to sell a Championship in history no? 4 days from one round to the Finals
The way i look at it, I think Baltimore would want to play the second game in Milwaukee. This way, if they win the championship, they can do to Milwaukee what they did to them last year. Celebrate on their arena floor. Celebrate in their locker room. Celebrate at their restaurant. Winning in Milwaukee's building would make the Championship twice as sweet. I know that's how I would feel if I were baltimore watching Milwaukee dance on MY field after losing last year. They would want to return the favor. Just my thought though...
Baltimore Blast Danny Kelly, Sagu and Mike Lookingland are among the finalists for 2011-12 MISL awards: http://www.baltimoreblast.com/news/headlines/index.html?article_id=273 Official Website of the Baltimore Blast: Headlines www.baltimoreblast.com And 2nd - Thats what LaRaZa did a couple years back - they had fun
I agree with your 100% then won it in front of our fans now its time for us to do it in front of them but it will be hard to do if neto and deroux do not play
Card Man- you can say the sponsors paid for the tickets, paid for player salaries, paid for airfare, rent etc... which is all true in a sense, BUT those Bays players are not shelling anything out for those tickets. There's only so much sponsorship $ to go around anyway. Remember the night we played Milwaukee and they had almost 10,000... well alot of those tickets were "PAID BY THE SPONSORS" That is why kids were invited to come down that night for a speech from David B- and a free ticket BTW- emails are out there for BOGO tickets for Friday. Just saying the league gave NEITHER team any chance to sell these games 8,000 fans Friday... 3,000 paid Hell- WWE has been selling their main event for 2 months.. we sell ours in a few days
As Kenn pointed out in another thread, arena schedules go a long way in determining what days and what game the higher seed selects. Besides, I don't think the Blast is doing anything unconventional. NHL, NBA and NHL's first two games go to the team with the better record, who will more than likely win on the road.
I am on the blast email list and i have yet to see a buy one get one free offer from them , I know the wave have that for sundays game go to ticket master it will show u what is left the lower bowl is almost sold out and the middle bowl is about 3/4 of the way sold already so the blast should have between 8K to 10K people at the game on friday
Card Man- I like you dude but do you sniff glue during the day? Go to ticketmaster.com and click sports, and hot tickets and the Blast v Wave are there. The new interactive seating is pretty cool. BUT - there are plenty of tix to be had in the lower and middle bowls. Behind the goal (middle section) says not available, but I'd say they have yet to open that part up don't you think? That's the case with the upper for sure... fill the bottom first I'd love to see 10,000 Friday night, but they have a lot of seats still to fill
No I dont sniff Glue I had to give that u i had to give it up when i kept glueing my hand to my nose I guess we will see on friday night , you going to the game by anychance your ticket could be the one that hits the 8K mark LOL
Well I'd hope there would have at least been one expansion team in the match (whether they played Milwaukee or Baltimore, wouldn't matter). Anyhow, I think the key is going to be winning the first game. Whoever wins the first one will win both, no minigame needed.
USL had nothing to do with the Schedule for the Championships or the playoffs. Each teams board of govenors voted on the time frame before the season started and dates were booked/held back in July.
I dont know what is going on with those seats I will find out today because me and my wife sit in section 229 , row a , seats 3-4 every game and i always buy mine on game day , i am going to call mike conway today about them
On the way to work today, saw a billboard next to the freeway advertising the game on Sunday. That's the first time I've seen a Wave billboard this year. Also, Sunday's game will be broadcast live on TV on Time Warner Sports here in southeastern Wisconsin.
