First kick is finally here! Our squad and preseason still feel incomplete, but here goes nothing. TV: Galavision, PrimeTicket Radio: ? My starting line up: Kennedy Riley Valencia Pearce Jazzic Lahood Zemanski Labrocca Smith Angel (will he even be available?) Townsend We're going to struggle against a Houston that's strong on dead ball plays. Hope to get something out of this game.
Angel is not under contract yet he will not be playing unless it gets fixed in the next day or two. This will tell us a lot about how our season will go.
Figure this is a better place for this then starting a new thread, but: Has anybody received their season tickets yet? I was told that they would be shipped the last week of February...it is now March 7 and with only 4 shipping days left before the first game, I'm just wondering if I should cause concern? Thanks.
I received mine weeks ago. So did a bunch of other Black Army members that posted pictures on facebook and stuff. I wouldn't be too concerned. You can always call your ticket rep and let them know you never got them and they will replace them for you. (I lost my season ticket a couple years ago while moving during mid season...no trouble getting it replaced)
My starting line up: Kennedy Riley-Valencia-Pearce(Lopes in the 60th if he keeps making mistakes)-Villafana Lahood-Minda-Labrocca-Smith (bolanos on for smith or lahoud in 70th) Angel (Romero on in the 60th) Townsend/Romero C'mon you boys in red and white...don't embarrase us like against San Jose, I'm taking a good handfull of family members i'm trying to convert to fans!
cant wait - should be a good one. FYI MLS Direct Kick is offering a free preview this weekend. ball up!
Currently watching the match. the Pitch is looking weird. Did the grounds crew decide they wanted an 8-Bit look? The Tarps don't look as horrible as I had imagined. Still weird to see the other end covered. ARUGH!!! Angel just blew a shot. damn, he slipped.
Kennedy was great!!! I didn't watch any of the preseason games, but for the first 90 they came off better than image the preseason had created in my head... then extra time happened. A funny line, to me, was when ANGEL almost scored in the first half the commentator said "That's why they signed him this week." Because I was thinking "If they wanted him so bad why did they have to **********foot for so long." anyway, different thread. I'm still optimistic.
ryan smith - why isnt he starting? and if we're gonna be working the wings like none other, townsend needs more PT. dude is a goal magnet off the cross. and that extra time goal was nothing but a fluke. the ball was shot into traffic, deflected, and took a lucky bounce onto the foot of a houston ball player. it was essentially undefendable. but on the bright side, we lost 1 point tonight. much better than blowing a lead (and 2 points).
I was at the game and I felt like we hardly put together 3 or more passes more than 1 or 2 times. The starting line up to me set us up for failure. We started with no creativity. Townsend, smith and Romero need to start. Their inclusion was the first sign of any creativity. The only players that stood out from the starting line up we're curtois, Kennedy and jazic. Riley and zemanski could not do anything on the right side. The pairing was just completely ineffective. LaBrocca seemed to be a step off. Minda was absent. Pearce And rowshawn made a couple scary mistakes.we were lucky to leave homes depot with only one goal against. Dynamo were the only ones moving the ball like a professional soccer team. We looked a good level below mls standard at least.
That was a tough way to start a season. Punch to the gut. Kennedy was a beast last night and kept us in the game. Romero and Townsend need to be starting. They added a much needed spark of life in the game for Chivas USA. Rauwshan was scary in defense and made some costly mistakes. The back line needs some work, and Fraser needs to find some players that work well together. And I wasn't a fan of starting Vagenas...he did nothing all game until he was finally subbed out in the 59'. I was in attendance and only 14,000 for opening day seemed a bit weak. The banners looked decent, but it was odd to have an entire end empty. I'm still optimistic...Fraser just needs to find the right players to start and I think we'll be okay. Decent start after the rough pre-season, it just sucks to come away with no points...
With out a doubt best thing that happened Sunday was the tailgate in lot 13 with the Ultras and section 101 going wiled for 90 minutes plus !
Nice pictures Chivas USA took of Sundays game. The only good think about yesterday's game was Dan Kennedy.
The home opener was less from last season! I think it looks better if there were fans on both sides of the goal to be honest... and now with this loss I hope it doesn't discourage fans... And i read a pretty harsh comment on a espn article about our home opener attendance... Hope our team starts stepping it up! http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/ml...ngs-learned-first-kick-leander-schaerlaeckens
People talk bad about Chivas USA's attendance all the time. Typical MLS fans that want Chivas USA to relocate, rebrand(LA Aztects LOl). Nothing new.
"Pathetically Small"??? I don't get it. If the portions of the stadium that are covered aren't there, then it looks like other stadiums? So to review, if you remove the upper deck and the endzone from the stadium, I'm sorry, but it looked like the stadium in Dallas to me, crowd as well. I saw lots of empty seats, enough for it to be noticeable. This writer is just a mark who sees Tarps and thinks apocalypse. I actually think the tarps are a good idea. It concentrates the attendance instead of having it spread out; A Fist instead of a bunch of fingernails. What was the attendance?
So basically it was at about the Season Average for the last couple of years. The guy made it sound like it was 4,000.
It didn't look bad from the stands. the tarps look sharp to be honest. they should make all seats the same price. When we start scoring goals and winning the crowd will look better as people will get more excited, go home excited and return the following weekend excited. Seriously, When they (houston) scored at the last minute it was like the air was let out of our hope balloons. truth is though, we were lucky not to have lost by a couple goals, we gave away a grip of corners and against a team with a bunch of tall as$ polar bears like houston thats asking for troubs. The crowd would look better if more people that talk about chivas LA actually show up to the games. Thats right Hovs that was a jab at you homeboy. We need numbers out there and bring a friend or three
