I actually think you'll see Ownby get more time off the bat than Rolfe, but that's just me.

I would be surprised; Rowe will be starting immediately it seems.

    Doh!

    Read Rolfe as Rowe.

While Garza looked good in his time in preseason matches, it's doubtful that he'll get much playing time this year, unless there are some injuries. The Quakes are surprisingly deep in the midfield, which is where Garza is projected to play (outside mid). Garza will be fighting to even make the bench at the start of the season, and likely won't win that fight. If he continues to develop, or if there are a few injuries, then he might get time. Right now, he's probably #4 on the depth chart at outside mid (either side), behind Chavez, Salinas, and Dawkins.

AJ Delagarza had a solid game. His partner Boyens was pretty bad so I hope AJ will get a new CB partner.

Mike Magee scored a nice goal. He is much like Dempsey in the way he plays. Magee tends to just roam around on the left and read the play until he finds himself in a good spot and gets a chance. He was wide open when he scored.

Landon Donovan started out very slow but as the game progressed, he looked much livelier. He got a late equalizer when he chipped the ball over Frei.

So, Velasquez justified my intrigue by starting at LM for RSL.

He started their comeback with a curling left-footed shot from the right flankl that grazed off an LA defender and into the goal. It was credited as an OG but it was very well-struck by Velasquez.

Overall, he had some shaky moments defensively, but given that it was Donovan and Beckham he was usually defending, that's not to be too unexpected, and he had some nice shots and showed a real comfort with the ball and good vision.

Definitely one too watch for the future.

    Colorado 2 - Columbus 0:
Marvell Wynne: 45 for 51 passing with 1 foul conceded.

RSL 3 - Galaxy 1: Saw the game.
Buddle: 22 for 25 passing with 3 key passes and a goal. Great distribution from the center forward position. Had some cross field completions switching the point of attack that I hadn't seen from him before. Great delivery from Beckham and excellent positioning from Buddle between to powerful centerbacks on the goal.

Velasquez: 42 for 45 passing, 3 key passes, and generated an own goal for RSL's first score. Ditch the skunk tail or whatever that is. According to his bio he came to the US aged 14 months. Is he a US citizen?

Beckerman: 79 for 94 passing. Not going away.

Luis Gil: 23 for 26 passing with 2 key passes. Pretty sick for a 19 year old string puller. He wasn't breaking ankles out there but he was clean and played within himself.

Schuler: heroic defending effort with LA pouring everything forward.

    KC 1 - DC 0:
Left Back Sinovic: 46 for 54 without being dispossessed once.

Seriously, that thing has to go. It was hideous. Hell, it would have been hideous back when rat-tails and mullets were "in" but it's awful in 2012.

RSL oughta hold a raffle and let the winners get to cut it off and donate the money to charity. Or, just have Schuler and Olave pin him down and have some vet like Grabavoy or Wingert cut it off!

Folks on the RSL board are saying he's a US citizen but I can't confirm that's accurate. I do know he's not listed as an international player so at the very least he's got a Green Card, meaning he's on his way.

I come here for good MLS info and get a Vidal Sassoon hair style commentary. :p

Who cares about that! Hope Velasquez develops and continues to play well.

I don't see anything wrong with his hair. If Agudelo having a blonde Frohawk is acceptable then why not a Rattail.

Luis Gil has a long ways to go before he is international quality. He played well enough but wasn't anything special. I look forward to seeing how this kid will turn out in the future.

Really good header by Buddle for the goal. He managed to score from about the pk spot from a cross that was a little behind him. It was a good finish. He was unlucky not to get another goal earlier in the game.

Apparently you didn't realize how good those passes that he was making were. Gil passes almost as good as Donovan while still only being 18.

He also has some burners too.

He plays very reserved imo. Which is fine, just what i noticed about him.
