stop. the first oil zillionnaire to get into the act was abramovitch he's as white as wonderbread.

anyway petrodollar is just a metonym for that special currency of the megarich, and a well-chosen one, because in this world nothing makes a dallah like that light sweet crude. hallelujah!

No. Most of this kind of comments are directly aiming at the arabs investments and not the russians. I stand by what I said about petrodollar and the rest of my message. At a point of time, stop to be hypocrite. I don't remember having heard criticisms about where Colony Capital came from while it's the opposite with QSI. One day occidental countries and people should understand that their culture is not superior and accept others.

You might not have noticed since you hate the EPL so much and all, but there was a fair share grumbling going on when Ambravioch strolled in and outright bought 2 titles for Chelsea. What you're on about?!? It makes me a racist because I actually like my current owner and how he went about building the club into what it's become? Enjoy your title Nicolas, your organization sure 'earned' it.

How am I hating the EPL ? Because I'm not idealising it ? Because i'm saying the atmosphere at Old Trafford or Arsenal is crap, Because when Evra said the atmosphere at Saint-Etienne is bad coz his ego was hurt for being booed. Because I'm saying that Cabaye was not the best player at Lille ? phewww. It's true that hasn't been invisble and outplayed by Ozil against Germany and could have caused a penalty. I had the impression that I talked of the Europe as a whole and when I talked about the EPL I mentioned it specifically.

The problem is that I'm not seeing the difference between someone like Abramovitch since I have to name a white guy and the sugar daddies of the past that did not get "petrodollars". What is Tapie, Canal, Dreyfus ? Even Pinault came to Rennes invested crazy money but he changed his strategy toward forming young players after getting spoiled. It's the same thing. At the end of 90', early 2000, we're talking about the insane amount spent by Dreyfus because Marseille had not results. As for Lyon what do you think of Pathé ? All of a sudden, Lyon could offer more money than PSG or Marseille. Surprisingly when it's from some part of the world, it shocks more. We've heard plenty of racists comments since the arrival of QSI.

You don't see a difference? Maybe your on to something with your bias angle, but it's not racism. Perhaps a bit of xenophobia? I was too young to care about football finances when all the people you mentioned came into play, but I notice a big difference between Roman and those others. THey're all french or french compaines aren't they? Doesn't really have the outsider ruining shit feel when a dude born in Rennes buys Rennes' football club!! Maybe if Roman Abramovich was Clive Addersly from Newcastle upon Tyne, he would have gotten far less shit. And likely the same with your lot. I hear english fans harping all the time about American owners and this and that. Maybe Americans aren't western and white enough for them

primo so much criticism has been levelled at CC that i don't think anyone has had time to get around to where they're from.

secundo, i am not an atomic hypocrite. as lux interior once said, "the way i walk is the way i walk". and if you imagine i consider occidental culture (of which the qataris are part and parcel in any case) superior to others, you haven't read much of what i post*.

i admit to a heavily tinted Weltanschauung but like to think that i am very low on mauvaise foi**. of course there are people for whom the origins of the qataris are the root of their dislike: the same who weren't keen on having "arabs" in the stands. but that's a minority, and if i wasn't convinced of that i would be the first to shout, "j'accuse".

    * i can't remember all i have tried to say on the subject here on BS but this wisdom from CLS i can cite from memory and i wish it could be hard-wired into every skull in tarnation:

** though most people liken mauvaise foi to what in english is called bad faith, the two are very different; bad faith is when you know what you're saying is false, mauvaise foi is when you've convinced yourself it's true.

it's only right and just, proper and helpful towards salvation that i do more than just rep these paragraphs. they are brimming with home truth.

but just because "FFP" is extremely hard to institute, and has had to start with very timid half measures doesn't make it demagogy.

the idea of allowing some clubs "to rise, to make investments for a few years before stabilizing their deficit" doesn't change the status quo, or only very superficially: meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

the changes in the CL have done much good. obviously returning to the old KO from the starting line format would be better... but would lead to civil war.

and here, imho, vive la guerre! here's a scenario: the top 16 clubs secede as they've been threatening to do for ages to start a superleague shown on pay cable TV all over the world. the rest of us go back to the old ways and get televised on M6, W9 and Direct8.

in 5 years the barcenals and real milans just might be beating down the door to get back in. i'd tell them to FOAD.

it would be better to put this on the PSG section, but a) here it can't be considered trolling, and b) this is where the conversation is:

my big problem with QSI is not the origins, or even necessarily the money; although there is a very real difference between what happened in lyon and what's going on in paris, domination is no fun (if you're not on top).

    it's this:

look at the front page of the PSG site. rêvons plus grand. paris, ce n'est plus ici, and ce n'est plus magique. they've taken down or moved those banners in the PdP and that is scandalous enough to make even a sardine angry.

and of the 10 players shown, only two were there last year, only one two years ago. hell, half of them weren't even there at the beginning of this season. i don't expect armand or camara but why not bodmer? bisevac? ceara? jallet? hoarau? these guys are chopped liver? the biggest laugh is finding out lugano's already on the scrap heap. the message conveyed is strong, and to my nostrils it stinks.

any wonder they're talking about TEARING DOWN the parc?

I actually like Aulas quite a bit. But if he is thinking about selling (probably just conjecture, though?) then I'd obviously like it to be somebody who is willing to put lots of money into this club.

Did anyone see the large "Support Remi Garde!" banner against Lille?

What I find funny that Colony Capital was the savior of PSG and QSI destroys the identity of PSG. The plan Leproux is coming from who ? Backep up by what kind of entity ? When we see all the politician pressure to keep Leproux, the one way coverage of this affair by the media it says it all.

I don't see where PSG is losing identity by changing a lot of players after a period where a CC tried to reduce the cost so the roster was very low and it was the end of a cycle with a lot of players supposed to leave. Players mediocre like Jallet, perhaps it was enough for the mediocre PSG but it's not enough for an ambitious club. I don't see ambition as a problem. Surprisingly, Lille also signed a lot of players and no one is questioning a loss of identity.

I don't see any difference. Football is globalized now so I don't see the problem with foreign owners. It's protectionism ? Fear of others ? At the end of the day, it's the same thing.

We're even worse than in the dark ages of watching tv on M6, W9 or direct 8 since unlike Platini who introduced himself as the protector of the popularity of football there will be no more CL on free channels soon. We do not even know what will happen during the Euro, there are rumors that only France will be broadcasted on free channels.

They already have their closed league, the champion's league. This kind of threats are ridiculous anyway.

simple hes dependable ,steady, stable, the one fault is hes might be considered regular ,but thats what Lyon need right now to build off being its building a new stadium and finding new investors ,beating Lille yesterday and holding a 4-4 game with PSG isn't a walk in the park keep in mind Lyon are 7 time french champs big repect psg are taking notes ;)

If it were up to me I would keep Gourcuff and dump Kallstrom. When OL beat Lille that showed me that they cans still get 3rd place. St. Etienne dont deserve 3rd and arent equipped for Champions League play.

Yea I like Eder as a player but he's really surplus considering we have some decent attacking players coming up.

Hahaha, and I do remember you calling him that. I'd have to say he's basically earned the nickname for the vast majority of time he's spent here. Still, best of luck to him.

Hey also long as Aulas stays in control of the club, I don't care the investors that are brought in. The new stadium is crucial to goals to being a top club in Europe. It has to happen, and soon, or we're gonna get left behind by Paris.

is Cris retiring? I just read that the club is "tracking" (Brazilian) replacements for Eder and Cris.
