Figured we needed one of these for random stuff like this. Omar started and played 65 minutes, picking up an assist, in Jamaica's 3-2 win over New Zealand earlier today.
Anyone interested in seeing another team playing same formation as what we are, should tune into US v Mexico U-23 (Olympic) game tonight. US is playing same formation in opening display as what I (we) think we will be running, plus jersey # matches their paper position. Tons and tons of movement and position switching...
Funny tweets from David Lindholm about some communication issues on the team. Castrillon and Yamada are staying at the same hotel and Yamada needed the code for internet access. In order for them to communicate Yamada has to speak Japanese to Koz, Koz translates it to English for David, and David translates it to Spanish for Castrillon. Then back the other way for the response.
I was just looking at the Major League Soccer Soccer web site schedule and I noted that the 'new' Versus (NBC Sports) has matches as do ESPN, ESPN2, FSC, Galavision and the Canadian RDS, and TSN. Have the Rapids gone back to Altitude or do we know, Direct TV blocks all of the regional Fox broadcasts (and everything else that they can it seems) to try and get me to buy Direct Kick even though I already have their Sports Pack so Altitude is a nice work around (sometimes with the sound off) if available. At present the main league site's schedule and the Rapids team site do not show anything other than the National broadcasts. This thread: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1893401&highlight=broadcast&page=3 Says Altitude but it is more like a projection than a confirmation, (also red cards are still send offs, right?). Altitude's site has this: "Rapids On Altitude Schedule The television schedule has not been released for the upcoming season at this time. Please check back for more information in the coming weeks."
The Rapids are on Altitude. They've been out at camp to film spots and they hired a new pbp guy for the season. BTW, the FSC games are only Champions League. There's no MLS contract with FSC this season.
I heard a thud on the porch around 7 pm and went to investigate, found a UPS delivery. I just opened it now and it's the season tickets. The backgrounds on the tickets are 3 shots of the Opening Day majesty that was last year, mostly grayscale with the burgundy and white flags in color. It's absolutely beautiful. The letterhead is also graphically enhanced from years past. All in all a fantastic job and 8 days early to boot.
So it appears that something hinky is going on on the other side of the Rockies. FSL only has 6 international slots (after having traded one to us back in 2005(?) and traded another), but currently has 9 internationals on their cap-compliant roster from yesterday. Not even their fans in their forum can figure out how they're getting away with it.
Some of those guys must have green cards, right? They've been in the US awhile, and it wouldn't be surprising if the public info on who has green cards isn't too up to date.
It seems fitting that a poster named "commercecity" is the fisrt to claim their tickets because both UPS and the Rapids are near. I keep having a sad lonley vision of my ticket packet sitting in the office of my old apartment building. I moved in the offseason, I hope they got it right but I'm not holding my breath.
My hunch is that the only thing hinky going on is that it has not been reported yet who has a green card.
But their cap-compliant roster that they released marks 9 players as internationals. If they had green cards wouldn't you think the team wouldn't mark them as internationals? (Yeah, sure, I could see the Rapids making that mistake, but I expect better from most MLS organizations. )
Same here. On the manage my account page it says something like "address name" and has my old address, but I updated the actual info with my current address. Hopefully they use that info and not the address name.
I did that, plus changing it on my flash seats (for when I have flash seats, like when we got those Avs tickets) and we called them a few times. Here's to hoping! I've been working on a project all day and I look out the window everytime a truck passes by.
Is it common for organizations to mail their tickets out to season ticket holders less than a week away from game 1? I realize its common for the Rapids, but very few have ever considered what they do as a model. That one fiasco with flashseats that produced a “late” arriving crowd makes that “product” dead to me. So flashseats, is way out of the question. The very few people I ever am able to get give tickets away to would hardly be bothered signing up for a flashsseat account.
I had one issue with Flashseats, the "big" one. And it cost me almost 10 minutes of frustration. Somehow I slogged through it. Other then that's it's been flawless and incredibly convenient. To each his own.
mls doesnt seem to like us in the power rankings... 12th http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/03/06/power-rankings-whos-top-team-first-kick
My frustration over those ten minutes would not have just disappeared. Heck it bugs me that it happened in the past, to other people, now. I freely admit that I may be more high maintenance about this. I don’t go to places like water world because I can’t stand standing in line. The torture of that is not outweighed by the fun of the waterslide. I can’t imagine missing ten minutes of something I look forward to all week because someone/thing else’s issue. I get to events way early (or miss opening acts entirely) because I can’t stand the line.
I guess I can't get that mad at the Rapids when they screw something up when the league can't even get the basic facts of its own history correct: http://www.mlssoccer.com/history/season/2010 Apparently MLs forgot that the Rapids hosted the Eastern conference Final that year, because there was a team that earned a playoff berth after us, the San Jose Earthquakes.
So this happened: Fernando Clavijo named technical director U.S. Soccer Hall of Famer joins FC Dallas staff Think he'll take Wells in exchange for Ferreira?
Yeah right, he's probably calling up NY right now to see what kind of ransom he needs to give up for Mehdi.
