Re: Justified on FX Next time I am in a book store, I plan on picking it up unless I happen to see it at Target.
Re: Justified on FX As long as we're mentioning Band of Brother ties, season one ADA David Veasquez was played by Rick Gomez, aka Sgt. George Luz.
Re: Justified on FX Another former Deadwood face in Pruitt Taylor Vince. Playing quite a different character from Mose.
Re: Justified on FX I'm liking the new season, but what's with all the sadism? The butcher threatening to burn the young guy's hand with lye (and evidence that he's done it before on the older mans' hand), the forced russian roulette, the girl tied to the bed -- it seems like a marked shift, and I don't think it's necessary.
Re: Justified on FX I think it is too stress that things are stepping up a level in Harlan Country. Before you just had the Crowder's and Bennet's that were simply backwood families trying to make a living. Now, you have an organized crime syndicate along with the Crowder gang and whoever the butcher guy is so things are just stepping up and the violence shows that.
Re: Justified on FX They've had people tied up before. And the first episode of last season featured a pedophile kidnapping a 14-year-old girl. I mean, dude, it's Elmore Leonard, not Mother Goose.
Re: Justified on FX The way Eva smiled when Raylin roughed up the pimp from Lost made it seem like she's still got a little bit of a thing for him. Raylin, not the pimp. Although it's also possible that she was smirking about how easy it was to get him to do what she needed him to do.
Re: Justified on FX Am I the only one who thinks next time they go to Limehouses'BBQ they should be some shrimp on thar?
Re: Justified on FX I started reciting the litany of shrimp recipes during a recent episode and my wife elbowed me in the gut to make me stop. She can't stop me doing it in my head, though. ----------------------------- Did I miss the point at which Raylan moved into the room over Boyd's bar or did they just make that happen off camera? That seems a bit out of character to me. As did Raylan's passing off without comment his having gotten Gutterson's friend suspended, a little bit. Not my favorite episode. Edit: I dunno. Maybe the second one is in character. The series title is Justifed, after all, and Raylan seems to think most things he does are just that.
Re: Justified on FX I didn't think it was Boyd's bar, but maybe I was too busy being confused by what seemed to me the complete lack of set up on this.
Re: Justified on FX That was the set-up. His walking down and having that conversation with those women. And, no, it's not Boyd's bar. And, yes, it wasn't very clear. That totally bugged me too -- I'm hoping that's intentional and becomes at least a side story, because it was exceedingly shitty behavior all around. I'm not against it, I just want it to mean something. Perhaps Winona's departure is pushing him over the edge. Now that I think of it, maybe his lack of concern over Arlo's growing dementia is supposed to be part of that--however that actually seemed consistent to me.
Re: Justified on FX I realized from reading a review that we're supposed to understand that Raylan had been sleeping at Winona's and moved out after she left. Not that they were particularly clear about it.
Re: Justified on FX Ah, okay thanks. Yep. That's a good way to put it. If it's part of the story, then it's okay.* In fact, now that you mention it and his interactions over Arlo, I'd be surprised if that's not it. Good call. *Although, I have to say that the 12 year old I used to be--who wanted his heroes to be heroic and who thought it was okay if the good guy got tagged a couple of times but ultimately needed him to bust every bad guy's jaw in a fair fight--is still back there getting anxious about this kind of turn of events. I wish he'd pipe down.
Re: Justified on FX I thought that was a good episode. The story is finally progressing a bit. It looks like the shit hits the fan next week.
Re: Justified on FX What I being distracted by the tight top or was the bar lady at Raylan's new place kinda hot? And how would the babe-ratio compare to real Eastern Kentucky?
Re: Justified on FX There are definitely a lot of good looking women in the American south, but I'd say smokin hot chicks are most likely being over-represented in the show.
Re: Justified on FX I'm quite enjoying the bad guy dynamic between Wynn Duffy and Mr. Quarles. Sort of what Dewey and Dickie would be like . . . were there a brain or clean shirt between them.
