I'm no zealot (and I have my doubts about the 'le'), but he has a point.

He sure does. After reading that I thought maybe we were wearing blue today and they were wearing white. 'Le' is correct...

Re: Match Day thread: Italy Forza Azzurri

The idea of America and Americans is a European colonial invention.

There have been people living on this continent for milenia, but before Europeans got here, no one thought that living on this hemispheric land mass gave them any sort of group identity. Columbus wouldn't have called himself an American, but as the recognized leader of the trade expedition that started the invention of America, he's got as much claim to being the first American as anyone else. You could also make an argument for Vespucci who was the first to write about the "New World"

Also, go USA! I'm wearing my blue away jersey, but am ready to switch to red if need be.

If you're going to call America a "Hemispheric Landmass" then you'd better be refering to the EurAsiAfrican's who colonized it, for that is a Hemispheric Landmass, as well.

USA, su Italia! (that is supposed to mean "over Italy" - I'm sure it's wrong.)

Bleh. Danny Williams is still being set up for failure unless this works more like the Slovenia match formation. The left side is strong though.

I agree with this.... why not play him at left back and play johnson on the right?

Maybe Bradley is lining up on the right though, which I would actually prefer to williams being there.

Nominally, yes. But based on the type of players selected, it's sort of that crooked 4-3-2-1 JK tried a couple of times in 2011. Three DM's, with one (Williams) pretending to be a RM.
