Another Brit in Orlando. No biggie. At least he is not a tourist.

So Yordany did sign w/ RSL and it's permenant not a loan.

    1) Orlando gets a transfer fee, so that's good.
    2) it's awesome to have my old town provide my new town with great players.

Do you guys know if Orlando City has went down to trini to scout for more players. I understand that Josling didn't work out but I'm sure that there are more players who OCcould help develop into good players like the coaches did with Molino.

I understand that at least one player, a goalkeeper, was on trail with OC early in the offseason from T&T. Not sure what panned out, but with Molino doing so well, and Fojo be picked for a majority of games last season I can't imagine Heath wouldn't consider going back for more players.

My mistake, didn't mean he was a starter. Simply meant that he was getting suiting up and available on the bench.

Rooney missed, but does he have it to be a starter here?

He aimed for the bottom corner and the keeper got it right.
Once Jamie starting once his knee is better and Rooney getting subed in.

    But we'll see...

Looking over the OUTS for 2011-2012, here is what I got:

MF Lawrence Olum - signed with SKC
DF Jack Traynor - signed with Rochester
MF Yordany Álvarez - signed with RSL
FW Devorn Jorsling - dropped by OCSC, I assume unwanted

    INs are:

    FW Matt Luzunaris
    MF James O'Connor
    MF John Rooney
    MF Anthony Pulis

    Maybes:
MF Lewis Neal was just released from RSL preseason camp, does he return to OCSC?

Looks like most parts have been replaced. Luzunaris probably equals/greater than Jorsling, who seems to be a wash for the team. Does O'Connor and Pulis maybe replaces Alvarez and Olum? They seem to have experience but they are older. How big of a loss is Traynor?

    Anything missing here?

I believe Lewis Neal is still under contract with Orlando City. He's still on their roster, even though there was a trialist using his #24 at the Union match. RSL would have needed to pay a transfer fee to Orlando City if they wanted him.

I wasn't sure if Neal had a 2012 contract with Orlando, or if he signed only a 1 year contract (almost normal USL/NASL deal).

Have you seen him around the team since last week when RSL dropped him?

Actually he is still on the RSL roster, and I questioned a member of the Orlando front office about that on Fri. evening at Disney and was told they were not aware that he had been dropped by RSL and that he was still under contract to City!

Not sure if RSL officially published it, I did see a press release awhile back. Here is a blog site from Feb 16 when it was announced Neal was cut.

    http://www.rslsoapbox.com/2012/2/16...-makes-a-second-round-of-cuts-to-their-roster

He isn't on the roster after Feb 16th and hasn't played in any of their games. He was cut.

EDIT: Found this tidbit on wiki:
It is now believed he is back in talks with Preston North End over a possible loan move back to the club.
    No idea if its true.

I would really hate to lose him! But I actually checked the RSL roster before I posted last night! Perhaps they just haven't updated!

I'm positive 100% Neal is gone from RSL. Take that to the bank.

Where he is now is the real question.

Hopefully on a bus heading back to Orlando. But, if he wants to end up back in the home country, Orlando might not make any sense...

Btw, when will we have our first Oconnor sighting? Is he injured? I didn't miss him did I?

From Goff re: DC United, at WaPo, 3/6:

"Lewis Neal, a 30-year-old English midfielder who was with the third-tier USL club Orlando City last season, has arrived for workouts. He began his career with Stoke City and played for Preston North End, Notts County, Carlisle and Shrewsbury Town."

He's only been coaching thus far. Don't know if/when we'll see him on the field.

so. as a newly minted OCSC fan and STH is the loss of Neal a big deal? how did he perform last season? was he a key player? he seemed to have one of the best pedigrees of any player on the team ... but pedigree isn't everything. it does look like he played most every game (21 appearances).

so ... let me know what this means for the team.

He was usually the best player on the pitch. He didn't do too much flashy but he didn't make mistakes either. Just really good every game. His loss hurts a lot.

Add to that Alvarez (USL MVP) and Olum also leaving, there are some big shoes to fill.

Hopefully the new and returning signings can make up the quality.
