    No we wouldn't be done.

Sarabia is currently struggling at Getafe.

K9 was established. Save the "getting a call up" line too, because favoritism plays as much a role when it comes to Brazil as skill, ability and necessity.

I like to poke at you.

The way I see it Javi can play as CB and with Carvalho not getting any younger and having 1 more year left on his contract.. getting Javi in gives us that extra option at CB.. a bonus is that he can also play in midfield (natural). Sell Albiol and get Martinez in, not everyone will agree and I can see why but this could also be an option.

I fear either Lass or Granero might leave if we was to get Martinez though which is a shame.

    Javi is better than Khedira.

Has Javi ever played as a CB? I'd be interested to see how he did there.

Keirrison was already flopping before Barcelona bought him.
In one year he was joint top scorer with 2 other players in the brazilian Serie A playing for Coritiba (a small club that bounces between serie A and serie B frequently).
Then he was sold to Palmeiras (a true first division team) and everybody but Barcelona noticed that his previous season could have been a fluke.
So, nobody can say that a one season wonder is estabilished.

Anyway, Lucas' situation is not much different because he only played for two seasons of professional football so far. He is looking very promising, but anything can happen.

Me too, I know that he's slotted in at CB during some games, but not sure if he would be deployed there much if he was to sign for us.

He really wasn't, a cutesy moniker like "K9" does not mean a player is established :D

Uh, didn't I say this? The fact of the matter is he didn't get "a" callup as far as I know he's gotten at least ten and he hasn't done anything to hurt his reputation in his play with the NT.

That's a risk you always run into when buying young talent. It shouldn't stop you from going after ones you believe will have a bright future.

He plays there virtually every game ever since Bielsa took over.

We just had a Martinez discussion in the Khedira thread of all places but I do think Martinez would be an upgrade over Khedira as a partner to Alonso.

Honestly, I would be happy if we did not sign anyone, even if Albiol, Lass and another midfielder left.

We still got Drenthe, and he is been doing okay at Everton.

I seen Martinez play as a CB for Spain and he was well... horrible!! We dont need any midfielders.

We might need a third striker, one who can come of the bench, or cover when a player is injured, and provide some tactical flexibility. Adebayor fitted the bill, as he was cheap, and he gave us something different to our other strikers.

Drenthe is out of contract isn't he? I doubt Mou would use him tbh.. will go for cheap or on a free.

Albiol will most likely leave too I guess for football elsewhere.

    Shame if he is.

How is losing 2 midfielders and a defender and replacing them with only a striker, good management?

There's a greater chance of Gago being a starter for us next season than Drenthe returning.

You misunderstood me, what I meant is that we are selling Drenthe along with Albiol and Lass this summer. I am not endorsing his comeback. Gago would probably be sold this summer too.

We have too many midfielders, in fact we have Khedira, Lass, Granero, Alonso, Sahin, and Altintop to cover for 2 positions. Not to mention that Coentroa, and Pepe will occupy the DM position from time to time against tougher teams. Therefore, even if we sold two midfielders, there wont be a real need to replace them.

Assuming we sold Albiol, we do not really need another defender, given Varane, Carvalho stay healthy and we upgrade Carvajal to the first team.

A third striker however could be useful in case of injury and for tactical flexibility.

If that is the case then why go for another young talent when we still have Sergio Canales on the books? When his two seasons loan at Valencia is done, he is currently in his first, Kaka will be 31 years old and would most likely be on his way out.

Mesut will need a back-up and there is no reason why that can not be Canales. He is a Real Madrid player, familiar with the squad, established in La Liga and Spanish. At this point it is also highly debatable whether Christian Eriksen is better than him or vice versa.

I wouldn't call Canales "established" in La Liga. He's had one decent season (it can be even argued it was half a season really) with Racing. And I don't see Kaka staying here beyond the end of this season; frankly, if we got an offer 30 million or above, I'd pack his bags myself.

If Kaka leaves then why not just bring back Borja Valero? :D

Because he's too expensive for a substitute.

One of these years Parejo is going to have a similar season like the one and a half Borja Valero had at Mallorca + Villareal, and we'll never hear the end of it.
