Re: WTVN Snubs Crew I tried commenting on the article. They aren't allowing public comments apparently as it doesnt show up on their site or on my facebook.
Re: WTVN Snubs Crew I think it's just your computer. My comment is on there and I know there's like 5 others as well.
Re: WTVN Snubs Crew What a flaming douche. Right off the bat he says that MLS was "founded in 1993". I was curious were he got that. So I did a quick search and that's what it says on Wikipedia. A professional sports reporter doing background for an interview with the commissioner of a professional league. Wikipedia. Then Garber points out that CBus has the "winningest record in the league over the last four years" and not 20 seconds later this asswipe says they have the best record over "the last five or six years or something". Isn't Rule #1 supposed to be that you actually listen to what your subject says? And then, after Garber makes a point of saying that the Crew won MLS Cup in 2008, this bowlfloating turd asks if maybe Garber would mind "kneecapping David Beckham" so the Crew could win a title because "that's what's we need here is a championship" Is this person normally drunk in the middle of the afternoon, or is he just a simpleton?

Re: WTVN Snubs Crew "You have done SOME . . . Some good research. . ." Ask about New York before The Crew and you don't know anything about the team. "means the Crew is pretty healthy . . ." except for dumb asses who know nothing about your home town team. "maybe you can knee cap David Beckham. . ." Class act.
Re: WTVN Snubs Crew Some day the Crew will win the BCS National title and finally get the respect they deserve in Columbus. Until then, I guess we'll have to settle for MLS Cups, Open Cups, and Supporters Shields.
Re: WTVN Snubs Crew Joel Riley replaced Bob Connors (the morning show now) who retired last year, and Bob would always have MM on his show and talk about the Crew.
Re: WTVN Snubs Crew one does not provide the "Best Buckeye Coverage" (read OSU football) without shitting on other sports in central ohio.
Re: WTVN Snubs Crew Damn...you've got a way with words. And apparently, big Soccer won't let me rep you for this. Hopefully someone can help me out!
Re: WTVN Snubs Crew Semantics: We make jokes about the Red Bulls not in New York City. As we know, they're not even in New York State. In his defense, could he have meant New York City (proper) as opposed to the metro area? Of course New York "City" would be a great place to go, considering the Red Bulls play in Harrison, NJ. With that said, the guy could have had an intern or a button-pusher do some prep-work.
Re: WTVN Snubs Crew So you're taking the position that Riley was F*cking with the Don over New York Red Bulls? I'm not sure which position would be worse in this case. Ignorance or attitude.
Re: WTVN Snubs Crew That would not do too much good as he is not the host of that show. Bob The Morning Monarch did do double duty for decades, and Joel did take over for him late im Bob's career, but Chuck Douglas has the con now (and is doing pretty well with it as he's pretty even tempered and you get a lot of kooks on that show). I guess I'm kinda glad I missed the show. But one must remember that the guy is new in this position *and* that Bob really loved soccer--or at least supported it very well. There was a weekly Xoggz interview back in the day and they usually got plugs on his show on game day and at other times. He didn't have to do that. He continued that wth the Crew. No one would have cared in his core audience if he'd ignored soccer (and some might have applauded). The title to this thread is misleading. WTVN has been pretty good to the team all along. They did not have to be. So let's work to get the new guy up to speed. I'm not excusing that interview, however. The station is the main broadcast partner for the Crew and it behooves them, from a business perspective if nothing else, to get it right. But we do want them to keep Joel on because the alternative may well be a syndicated show, where you'll never hear soccer mentioned at all, except perhaps in the negative. But let's make the critique constructive--so they actually might listen ... and learn.
Re: WTVN Snubs Crew I don't want them to fire Joel at all. I was just very disappointed in the interview and wanted to express that.
