I think the fact that Man City doesn't have any game this weekend really hurt us because they played their best players were as if they had a league game this weekend, i highly doubt they would field a strong team and Porto would be able to capitalize. They probably feel like they have this in the bag and will hopefully play their B squad in Manchester :D i know, wishful thinking

Heard that yesterday. Porto deny this accusation. I've never heard of any racism at Porto in the past. I can't imagine any racism at a club like Porto with so many players from all over the place.

    http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2915/europa-league/2012/02/17/2912129/porto-deny-accusations-of-racist-abuse-towards-manchester

The English outfit have reported the Portuguese side to Uefa after Mario Balotelli and Yaya Toure were allegedly subjected to monkey chants during City's 2-1 win.

However, Porto have now hit back, claiming that the 'abuse' was all just a misunderstanding of the fans' support for Brazilian forward Hulk and City striker Sergio 'Kun' Aguero.

"What we can basically say is that nothing abnormal happened, no one noticed anything strange, not even the Uefa delegates who worked closely with Porto during the match," club spokesman Rui Cerqueira is quoted as saying by The Telegraph.

"Kun, Kun, Kun; Hulk, Hulk, Hulk - those chants can be easily confused with racist chants.

"We are very proud of having a multi-racial team, with players from all backgrounds and to have achieved many titles with respect.

"Porto players have never felt the slightest hint of racism and we were very surprised with the accusations."

The two clubs will meet at the Etihad Stadium for the second leg next Wednesday.

This is ridiculous. I heard no monkey chants yesterday and I have never heard, nor even ever heard of someone having heard, monkey chants in a Porto match...ever.

Wow, these kids are a bunch of clowns. One of them was even looking back as if he knew it was wrong.

I hope these idiots are banned for life.

Nice. So you guys were upset about the pictures we had in our hallways at the Alvalade but your club is the epitomy of racist garbage.

A couple of idiotic immature fans. Every sports team in the world has them. Even outside of soccer.

Very stupid considering we fielded how many black players yesterday? Rolando, Mangala, Danilo, Helton, Fernando, Varela & Alvaro? 7 to my count.

Yes, they are immature fans, but naturally they wouldn't do it to their own players on the team they support...

You understand the difference between the official measures of the club and a few fans?

The epitomy of racist garbage? Hilarious, looks like someone's butthurt. Remember the nazi flag one of the NN boys unfurled? Or when some Juve Leo fans attacked some black kids in a cup final?

Here's a great website remembering all those idiots.

Luckily, in Portugal, the far-right and such movements are a VERY small minority. Far right racist parties do not elect anybody to parliament, like you see in England (BNP), the Netherlands (PVV), France (FN), etc.

It still exists, though, so anything clubs can do to help would be great. That includes not glorifying idiots with Iron Cross tattoos by having their picture on the dressing room access tunnel.

To be fair, I don't think Sporting realized it so I don't see Sporting as "the epitomy of racist garbage" because that was not their intention. but once they have been pointed out, they could have been the first to remove those images. They would have been able allowed to keep the others where they just showed fans singing for the club, I'm sure of it.

This stuff is hilarious in a strange sort of way. Portugal is one of the most miscegenated counties in the EURO. Of course, once you start heading to the center and north of Portugal, the only blacks you see are on television. In the north, the locals would consider a black person a UFO Fourth encounter....

Looks like the MC player Mario Balotelli was the main vicitim. Strange. He's Italian. he should be used to this sort of thing. The fascists in Italy are always pulling this sort of stuff; especially in the North. Ever wonder why the Italian National Team fields predominately white players.......

Not as white as you think. Tons of returnados brought their mixed families in the 70's after the coup and lots of recent black brazilians too.

This is not true in Porto. It's not a North/South thing, but rather than smaller cities (Braga, Leiria, Beja, etc.) have very little immigration and so much less black people (including subsequent generations). You still see more than in Italy, though.

Even a massive game from Hulk can't save us. We make too many defensive mistakes :(
