New season debuts tonight. I guess there's some Big Brother people on there, but as I've never watched Big Brother I can't say that I care too much. This has completely left Survivor in the dust -- very excited to have this show back.
Didn't realize it was back until this morning. Also excited for Celebrity Apprentice (mostly just Adam Carolla).
Terrific start to the season. The sisters were about 20 yards from the mat before they turned around; what a classic look on Phil's face as they ran the other way. The four of us (Mrs. Ismitje plus daughters aged 12 and 16) also watched Survivor today; we're all of the opinion of Ringo, that this show continues to excel especially by comparison. And hey - an MLS connection to this one!
'05 for DC (no minutes), '09-'11 for San Jose (two starts in '09, a win and a tie), in camp for the Sounders as a non-roster invitee now.
i was disappointed the guidos survived ... the girls seemed like the much nicer team. the border patrol guys seems like they'll be an unlikeable bunch. fun first episode. kept teams together so everybody had a chance (which I think they should do on the first leg) had some fun challenges. no team jumps out right away as my favorites, but the Rock Star-GK twins seem pretty cool.
Pretty annoying bunch of teams though it could just be the accents including of the eliminated girls that irked me. The army dude + the twins + the female agents were the only ones that weren't annoying one way or other.
Much nicer maybe, though I was surprised with how self-deprecating the Guidos turned out to be as they went through the leg. The girls took almost two hours to find their clue at the start, got stuck in the sand when randomly pulling off the road on the road block, forgot their backpack in their cars, and then made that stunning turn away from the finish line. That's as bad an opening leg as anyone has ever had.
oh yeah .... they didn't deserve it based on game play. Just from a personal level, they seemed like nicer people. can't decide what to make of the Kentucky people yet.
Yeah, I agree. Highly unlikeable teams. The travel aspect and challenges sell this show. No need to bring on a bunch of haters as contestants instead of normal every day people we can relate to a bit. I mean border patrolers? Seriously? I was hoping their parachute wouldn't open.
i have no problem with their jobs, I have problems with people who act like jerks. The Globetrotters were awesome as were last year's retired teachers. Cool people are cool people, regardless of what they do. Those two would've been annoying even if they bagged your groceries.
I agree in general. But there are a few jobs that pretty much define who a person is and how they behave. This being one of them. But putting that aside, it does sort of seem like the writers of the show went out of their way to invite annoying pairs to the race to spice things up a bit. I just don't think the show needs that.
I disagree. I find myself really liking Kentucky and the Federal Agents/'Teachers' ..... i'm definitely rooting for those two teams. I felt bad for the clowns, but thought it was somewhat expected. They didn't seem like strong racers but are definitely classy people.
Could be my quote. Getting to like the hillbillys.... even if I can't understand them.. I'm no math wiz but finding the average weight, common...count the cows, divide by the number of legs, add the weight X Pi. No sweat...!
They gave you the weight of the cows in the pen. Divide the weight by the number of cows. The Army pilot and his wife are excellent racers.
They whipped right through the solar-panel assembly as well. Hopefully their good-naturedness doesn't come back to bite them when the competition starts getting dog-eat-dog.
All those cows crammed together and milling about must be mesmerizing, and to try and count when you got all that number chatter in background probably sucked. I could of sworn one of the hillbillys called the Gaucho "Groucho", hehe.
That had to be the most difficult thing to do. Concentration and blocking out the chatter was the key to that challenge.
