It just occurred to me earlier today that of the five pro sports teams that I follow and root for... ... only the Golden State Warriors haven't reached at least one game or series away from its league championship the last two years: San Jose Earthquakes - 2010 MLS Eastern Conference Final (lost to the Colorado Rapids) San Francisco Giants - 2010 MLB World Series (won against the Texas Rangers) San Francisco 49ers - 2011 NFC Championship Game (lost to the New York Giants) San Jose Sharks - 2010 NHL Western Conference Finals (lost to the Chicago Blackhawks) and 2011 NHL Western Conference Finals (lost to the Vancouver Canucks) GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G

Dec. 12, 1971: A happy couple awkwardly holds their baby so grandparents in Sweden can see him. I'm guessing this videophone call cost about $45 a minute in 1971. Now excuse me while I give my iPhone a hug. (Chronicle file) That baby was (and still is) only less than three weeks younger than me. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G

I haven't watched a Super Bowl at a sports bar or eatery since the last time the 49ers won in 1995. Anyone know any cool places in San Jose/Campbell/Los Gatos where we can watch the game?
In the late 90's I worked on Sundays for AT & T and they had satelite dishes so we watched the games at work. In the earlier part of the decade, I was living in Europe so I missed the games. The last 5-6 years or so I kind of lost interest in American Football and missed many games but yeah for the most part, I watched the last 5 or so from home....
