Figured with players all getting into town, entrance physicals on Thursday, and the official start of preseason Friday, figured it was time to start this thread. We train in preseason for a few weeks, then off to Arizona for a few weeks, games against Vancouver and San Jose are currently scheduled (although the team hasn't confirmed them),back to KC for a week, then off to Orlando where we'll play in Houston, Montreal, and Vancouver.
Preseason really going today, the team is having multiple sessions, a veteran session and a rookie/trialist session. My brother is one of the trialists, having been let go by DC.

So they drafted him and then let him go without even seeing him pratice? Seems kind of pointless for them to draft him then...
He was there 2-3 days of training, came home Friday. I don't really want to get into much more than that here.
You have to be kind of relieved that he isnt going to be on the DC roster. YOu wouldnt want to have a reason to cheer for him, right? If he doesnt make the KC roster is he going to try to land with a USL or NASL team?
I'd survive, Thad and I discussed it on the podcast last week. I'd think of it as just cheering for my brother only if he actually made the bench. I probably would have bought a DC jersey just for nostalgia if he'd made the team. I am not really sure.
http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...ted-harrington-fighting-his-place-sporting-kc Good to hear Mikey has a positive attitude. Everything I have heard is that all of our guys came in extremely fit this season. Competition should be fierce at most positions....just hope it doesn't get anybody hurt. Can't wait for Zus, CJ, and Teal to get in there as well. With our depth, I would think we could do the double cup this season as long as we stay pretty healthy.
If someone directly mentioned this, I missed it, but I think it's interesting that Convey has already publicly stated he'd like to retire here and go out a Kansas City player. The dude's only 28 so that could easily be 5+ more years for us (14 more years if he's on the Preki plan), and for some reason I'm really buying into this proclamation that he's going to fit into our system a hell of a lot better than he ever fit into San Jose's. I wasn't too excited about that pick-up when it happened but the more I hear about it the more I think we got one hell of a deal.
Garcia, Kuhn, Samuel, Stuck all gone. Another goalkeeper, Angevine will join Spanger (GK) and Sadee (M) in Arizona.
Bobby's a Euro 28. I'm not sure he has 5 years left between injuries and starting so young. He's already a 12 year pro. Sapong will be 35 when he's a 12 year pro.
Any word on if this will be streamed? Even if it's glorified practice that will barely resemble soccer at times I would probably watch some of it.
The Tucson ones I doubt, they didn't stream those the last few years. The games in Orlando are more likely, as the tournament has been streamed on ESPN3 the past few years. It's been a while, but the team had said somewhere that the friendlies were closed to the public. That could have changed though.
Bummed about the timing, I'll be in Tucson for the Desert Cup matches while the team will be in Orlando, then I'll be in Orlando two weeks after the Disney Classic.
Here's our lineup. Jimmy Nielsen (Jon Kempin 30); Chance Myers (Michael Harrington 46), Aurelien Collin (Cyprian Hedrick 46), Matt Besler (Stefan Antonijevic 46, Lawrence Olum 77), Seth Sinovic (Korede Aiyegbusi 46); Julio Cesar (Paulo Nagamura 30, Konrad Warzycha 75), Roger Espinoza (Michael Thomas 65), Graham Zusi (Luke Sassano 46); Kei Kamara (Jacob Peterson 46), Teal Bunbury (C.J. Sapong 46), Bobby Convey (Dom Dwyer 46).
Wasn't quite sure which thread to put this in, but 4 guys are going after their green cards to free up SI slots: Collin, Puma, Cesar, and Dwyer. http://www.sportingkc.com/news/2012/02/sporting-seek-free-international-spots-sight-green-cards
Ugh, I just watched the highlights for the SJ game, that was a TERRIBLE clearance by our defense (Sinovic completely whiffed on the clearance then Espinosa couldn't settle it and the ball rolled right past him to SJ) that led to SJ's goal. That's gotta get worked out before March 10th.
