Croatian Scandal; Prostitutes and cash for promotion

Neven Sprajcer, Karlovac chief, who was arrested in December, allegedly paid former referee Zeljko Siric a total of 40,000 euros to help get the team promoted to Croatia's First Division.

A hotelier near Split claims to have helped organize the payments and services provided to referees, linesmen and rival teams as the way was cleared for Karlovac to go up. Besides money, prostitution services were also offered in several occasions, as well as fancy dinners and other minor favors.

Several arrests have already been made in what is the biggest corruption and match fixing scandal ever to hit the country. Siric has also been arrested, as has referees' commission president Stejpan Dedovic for allegedly taking money to guarantee that matches would be refereed fairly.

The newspaper reports that marked cash was given to several of those involved as part of a trap set up by investigators with the aid of Hajduk Split president Hrvoje Males.

Jovanovic: Markovic and Srebric should resign

“The wish to keep their positions is incredible. It seems that the people from the top of HNS are more interested in their posts than in football and footballers. I would be glad to talk to them together with my assistant Skansi. Maybe this conversation helps them to think the things over and resign.” – this is what the Minister of Education and Sport Zeljko Jovanovic wrote on his Facebook wall when making comments about the main secretary of HNS Zorislav Srebric and his request to see the minister.

    - They should do it because of the responsibility for the sad situation in Croatian football league which has sunk into the swamp of corruption, immorality and irresponsibility which is a disgrace for the real football fans – stands on Jovanovic’s profile.

He added that the first step in saving the Croatian football is the resignation of Srebric and Markovic. It is better for them to leave honorably while they still can than to stay another minute more.

    - With their resignation they open the door to the new and fresh minds. I personally hope that they will have the vision, ideas, programs and plans on how to get back not only the bronze, but also the golden reflection into our football – he concluded in the end.

They could open private management and political university (Remetinec University) with football as sports activity. Many experts live there now. I don't know would Zagreb University accept this faculty. After all professors aren't mobile.:) That's a huge minus in the contemporary society.

Metronet of Borislav Skegro will provide good online speed.:D After all they are his buddies.:)

Another person is also arrested: Nenad Pralija. With two staff members of RNK Split. It was always strange to me how can this club jump so quickly from fourth in to first division and at the end in Europa League. Now it's not strange to me anymore.:)

Several footballers were also senteced, like Mario Cizmek, Bosnian Muslim Jasmin Agic, Miljenko Mumlek, others are not well known, like these players.

Our league has also been heavily alleged with match fixing... by FIFA Pro in the recent weeks. Allegedly there will be heavy arrests.

Sad at the state of things... :(
