Since traditionally that has been the criteria for players on this thread I just wanted to note other lists out there.
Hugo (Selecta Talent) follows several guys that usually aren't discussed here. FESA has players go abroad but its impossible to keep up to date on those guys. Guano_Pride keeps a great list of guys in American colleges. However sticking to the criteria we usually use in this thread:

Rodolfo Zelaya - (Alania, Russia) own thread
    Eliseo Quintanilla - (Municipal, Guate)
    Marcelo Messias - (Petapa, Guate)
    Arturo Alvarez - (?)
    Steve Purdy - (Timbers, USA)
    Efrain Burgos - (Toronto, Can)
    Gerson Mayen - (Montreal, Can)
    Dustin Corea - (Blokhus, Denmark)
Edwin Miranda - (Los Angeles Blues, USL Pro)

    Re: Salvadorians Abroad 2012

I just copy/paste almost the entire post from the Quakes forum:

An article on mlssoccer website here about Arturo. What surprises me is that he is just now planning to go to Europe to trial - why wasn't he doing that the past month and a half?

Chivas has to get on with their roster planning, and I doubt they wait for him to decide until late January. Robin Fraser was quoted in a different article saying that they needed to know soon about what Arturo was going to do. End of January doesn't sound like "soon" to me.

I would expect that Chivas moves on and uses the $200k that they'd have to use on Arturo on someone else. If Arturo comes back at the end of January asking to play in MLS, I'd be amazed if Chivas/MLS pay him $200k. At that point you know he doesn't have any team in Europe, so he wouldn't have much negotiating leverage.

There is talk in El Salvador that Arturo may sign with Aris Salónica F.C. I know people hate rumors but Fernando Palamo from ESPN Deportes was on Pancho y Aida en San Salvador and broke the news.

People help me find the link.

Question..not meant to start anything, but Comunicaciones also was interested in Bautista from Metapan...and Marcelo Messias recently signed with Petapa...Also Quintanilla of course with Municipal...well basically what i'm getting at is whether the Guatemalan league is better than ours?...maybe not just soccer-wise, but infrastructure or team ownership?? Thoughts?

Also, Regarding rumors that Arturo Alvarez is going to Aris Salonica from 1st division in Greece, Arturo says "Se q hay interés del Aris pero hasta ahora no hay nada confirmado..."...so even though reports are that it is 99% done...maybe there are other teams involved too..

The Guatemalan league runs more $$$ than any C.A. league and salaries are high compared to the rest (with the backup of many sponsors). The big 2 have a lot of capital to spend especially Comunicaciones which is presumed to be the richest club in C.A.

Even in the 2nd Division you get good salaries according to Gary Muir, a Scottish foreigner who plays for Antigua GFC.

"Everything is too good to move away from here just now. The wages are better than you would get at most First Division clubs and the lifestyle is great so I'm in no rush to move back home."

I just read that Arturo Álvarez rumor.

What kind of player is he? Some sites have him as a winger and one has him as a striker.

Was he one of the better players of Chivas?

Well i believe he can play both, but i've mostly seen him in as a winger...More of an offensive winger that plays on outside...he has been criticized for using his left foot too much...but very skilled...below is a video on basically his career thus far...He hasn't played for Chivas USA, but just came from Real Salt Lake, having a quiet year with little playing time

No thanks. Jaime, should just stay in El Salvador. He's worthy of playing abroad somewhere else. Guate's league is good but it's about the same to El Salvador. No point in leaving unless it's to a league superior to both. Unless it's a move driven with money. Guatemala actually pays their players. ;)

Its probably mostly about money but Comunicaciones has assembled a really strong team and will probably get to the CCL. Its better then him phoning it in at Firpo under an awful coach. Its never a bad thing when our guys get it done abroad even if the leagues quality is about the same it just opens more doors for our players.

I agree. The point is to move up to a better organized team it doesn't matter which country it is. So yes Comunicaciones >>>>>>>>>> Luis Angel Firpo.

    Ok thanks for the info.

He seems to be a good player.

Let's see if it will stay a rumor or if he will really join Aris.

I follow Artie on twitter and he tweeted today that he's aware of interest from Aris but nothing confirmed. Ofcourse our media back home is claiming he's on his way to Aris lol. Arturo has claimed there's interest coming from liga adelante too.

Also, wasn't J. Alas supposed to go to Mexico? And I believe Umana got dropped by his former club. Although I believe he was a key player last season for them.

I'm really hoping Victor Turcios gets picked up. He has a really unique opportunity in Europe right now. When was the last time we had a defender at a euro club? If ever..

Dustin Corea is now an "Adidas player." So I'm guessing he's the first Salvadoran to sign a deal with a famous brand.

Obviously it's for money. Communicaciones hasn't done much in the international stage to prove otherwise.
