I can tell you that kind of thing for the Swedish league, but you're supposed to be the Frauenbundesliga expert . Shall we say "never mind"? I usually just think it's one-sided to look at how many goals forwards have scored and not their entire attacking performance.
I gave you both the Mittag and the Bajramaj goals on purpose, because those two were supposed to be the magic Potsdam duo that season. So it's probably a fair guess that Mittag had a few assists on Bajramaj's goals and vice versa. Never mind.
I have thought of Bajramaj as a creator who added the ability to score goals while at Potsdam. Even if you find her frustrating it's probably because she has a skill set that promises a lot, that when it's not working can make look her worse than sh*t. Creative players are often the most frustrating.
Potsdam's and the Netherlands' Chantal de Ridder out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury. The good news is that Bad Neuenahr's Nicole Rolser is coming back from hers; she played her first minutes in last weekend's cup match against Bayern.
Anja Mittag is Odebrecht's guest in her Babelsberg webradio programme tonight. I'm really positively surprised with how funny and relaxed and intelligent she comes across. I think I like her better on the radio than on the football field.
Highlights of Duisburg-Frankfurt. Curious Frankfurt goal: indirect free kick, Behringer takes it direct anyway, goalie touches it - goal. The full match Oh yes, she was there too:
A beautiful FK it was, quite a bender. Are you sure it was indirect, As that would be an unusual call these days? About 10 minutes before that, she had a FK from the same position (30m approx), and Duisburg didnt even bother making a wall. She smashed that one off the crossbar.... she gets behind the ball very well. In the last 15 minutes I felt this game was the "Battle of Duisburg" as it descended into fouls and almost fisticuffs. I thought Marosczan was playing with fire within minutes of coming on. Also noticed little Perceival getting her revenge against Laudehr. Shock of the game - pretty little Wensing is become a great player, and a dangerous one too, with a leap and a smashing header as good as Poppie. She is one of the players lifting Duisburg back up.
Oh yes. Watch the ref holding up her hand. The Duisburg coach was yelling at Bellinghoven from the sidelines but she was too busy placing her wall to take notice. And Behringer even said afterwards that she knew it was an indirect call but she decided she'd try anyway.
OK. I guess the interviews confirm that too. In any case disallowing the Garefrekes goal later seemed very dubious. So it was about a fair result. Also, I see Potsdam won 0-7 away to Leipzig. See here .... looks like Peter came in off the bench.
Wow, hat-trick by Yuki Nagasato... there's going to be a good competition for those 4-5 forward places at London Olympics for nadeshiko Japan...
womensoccer.de looks back on the first half of the season, starting with a few player names. MVP: Genoveva Anonma (15 goals so far) Positive surprises: Alyssa Naeher, currently Potsdam's No. 1 goalie Laura Neboli, already a regular starter in Duisburg's defence Sandra Smisek, back in her forward role with Frankfurt and as strong as ever, at 34 Maren Tetzlaff, who, after many years, has finally made Wolfsburg's starting line-up on a regular basis Disappointments: Petra Hogewoning, Dutch international who got only very little playing time for Duisburg so far Jessica Landström, still not quite arrived in Frankfurt's team Steffi Mirlach, hopeful Bayern and Germany youngster, but recently mostly demoted to Bayern's B team Navina Omilade, the lady with the intricate braids, almost always on the bench these days
I did not know that she was remotely close to that age. Even in the mens' game there are extremely few FWs that old. Remarkable.
Essen's Melanie Hoffmann is 37 and still going strong. Let's see what she's able to do at tomorrow's Essen-Frankfurt match (live on DFB-TV at 2pm CET). In other news, here's another chance to see some recent action from the 2nd Frauen-Bundesliga: Gütersloh vs Cloppenburg, two top teams from the northern division, one of whom may well advance to the 1st league next season. Most goals were scored by this year's U17 international Annabel Jäger. Highlights (women's match highlights start at 1.00)
My Freiburgers had their second goalless draw in a row today. Nevertheless, they end the year in 5th place! But what's interesting is that they've still got a negative goal difference, at 16-18, with 18 points. Wolfsburg, in 4th place (with one match less), have 26-9 goals and 25 points. That's a big gap. (Frankfurt, 3rd. And, despite the dreadful series that they've played, with only one more goal conceded than Potsdam.) Three matches cancelled this weekend, due to bad weather. (And if you've seen the Essen-Frankfurt webcast with rain, hail and snow all the way through the second half, you get an idea why. )
From a Eurotrash discussion about short people... Sorry to move over here, but watching that again made me think about football a little (I know, weird, huh?)... So is it possible that Landis will find her place as a holding-forward-in-the-center-type on this team? She looked pretty decent in the middle there, dumping the ball off to her betters. Her teammates, I mean.
Since she was brought onto the field after Lira's injury, Frankfurt has been playing more effectively as a team. A lot of that has a lot to do with the work Landis is doing up top. Her distribution and runs off the ball have been pretty damn good.
More extensive highlights of Essen-Frankfurt, from the other side of the field, by Essen's Powerplay TV and my favourite commentator. I had to switch to the IE though, Firefox wouldn't play them for me.
I had watched most of the match live, but I enjoyed these "reverse angle" highlights very much anyway, they were high quality, extensive and gave a new perspective on many actions. It's a shame I can't say I could really enjoy the german comment also, because my german isn't good enough... Thank you very much, Micol.
Looks like I did well to skip Freiburg's match last weekend - the last quarter of an hour looked something like this.
