Re: Matt Taylor to FSV Frankfurt If Taylor got a call-up, surely it would be quite a story for the media to follow.
Re: Matt Taylor to FSV Frankfurt If he was younger maybe. But now? When JK is likely looking to build the next generation? He won't do that with a 30+ rookie.
Taylor played the first 69 minutes in a 3-0 loss to Union Berlin http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...1-fc-union-berlin-62_sc-paderborn-07-109.html PS Thanks FA for the thread title change.
That's pretty typical in a shut out for a striker. Hell, I have seen wins where strikers have received a 4 from Kicker.
Taylor started and went 67 minutes in a 0-0 draw with Alemannia Aachen yesterday. He hasn't scored since his hat trick in the cup game on July 30th.
Well, remember that was a cup match. In the league he has only 1 goal and the team only 5 in 7 games. Up until a few weeks ago, they did win against the teams that sucked and lost to the better teams. And they were only "blown out" in one game; all the rest they were in each game. But to draw against Aachen at home? Not good. Paderborn has a tough part of the schedule coming up. He will have his work cut out for him to score at all.
Apologies if this is a repost -- just came across an article about Taylor from a few days ago (in German): http://www.westfalen-blatt.de/nachr...platz/?cHash=bb121a4aa646ec8dab51a270e8ad9de9 My recollection of Taylor in MLS (granted, years ago) was that he didn't seem like a guy who was going to be a regular first-choice striker in the league. He's a pretty fast dude. Given the choice to see how far he could go as a wing player or step back a level and stay up top, it seems he went for the latter. Fair enough. Here's hoping he gets a good chance at Paderborn and keeps bagging goals. If he can do that regularly, maybe I'm wrong!
According to the article he knows his role, at present, is to go on as a "joker"; what the Germans call a player who subs in and scores. He knows he is being given starts and then being subbed in or coming on as a joker. He does not like to sit the bench but his quotes with regard to his attitude show that he is willing to shut up, train hard, give "full gas" and make the decision of the coach hard when it comes to leaving him on the bench or not. That attitude plays well with coaches and fans; STFO and work hard and take your chances when you ge them. His problem at Paderborn will be getting service. They have the third worst offense in the league, despite having one of the better defenses. Having not netted at home to lowly Aachen after having spent 4 games on the bench does not bode well for his starting chances. However, the fact no one else is hot on the team and no one having scored more than one goal, may still give him a shot.
Taylor came on in the 90th minute today as Paderborn won on the road against Duisburg 1-0. The win sends Paderborn up to 6th.
Wow, unexpected success. However, Taylor has been seeing mostly sub minutes. And not even a lot of those. Nick Proschwitz or whatever is doing most of the scoring.
The away win or the table position? MSV has been total shiite at home this season, so actually not too surprising they lost. Paderborn is always a tough team to play for some reason. They spend half the season racking up surprise results and being in mid-table, only to fall off and die later in the year....or vice versa. Looking at their results they are stronger away than at home, but have played some tough teams and lost or drew. They have beaten the teams they need to which is always important. In terms of Taylor, he won't play as long as Proschwitz is scoring. They play a 4-2-3-1 and when the lone striker has over 1/3 of the team's goals you won't see the coach benching him unless he starts to cool off. Add to that two match winners and a strong form of late, and Proschwitz is not going any where for the time being.
Taylor came on in the 70th minute and assisted on Paderborn's equalizer in a 1-1 draw away to 1860 Munich yesterday.
I was checking 1860 Munich to see if American Bobby Wood came in as a sub (he did in the 88th minute), and noticed the American flag by Matthew Taylor's name... never heard of him before.
He played for Chivas USA, but didn't do well, then went to Germany an played in the 2 and 3 Bundesligas, occasionally doing well.
Taylor went 90 minutes today as Paderborn beat Erzgebirge Aue at home 1-0. From the google translation of the kicker match tracker he had a shot that was saved in the 76th minute, "[Asserted himself] in the midfield and set out towards the penalty area, but then missed the right moment to end." in the 62nd minute, forced a turnover that lead to a corner in the 59th minute, unsuccessfully tried to lob the keeper in the 52nd minute, and missed by 2 two feet after attempt with his thigh in the 39th minute. He also played the second half and picked up a yellow card as Paderborn were dumped out of the cup on the road to SpVgg Greuther Fürth 4-0 in midweek.
It won't last. Paderborn is simply playing above themselves now. They will implode, as most mid-table teams do, and end up back at 9th-12th place by May.
Taylor came on in the 67th minute and drew a penalty in the 71st minute which was converted for the second goal in Paderborn's 2-0 away win against Energie Cottbus today.
Taylor actually got the start today as Paderborn drew 2-2 at FSV Frankfurt on two goals by talisman Nick Proschwitz.
Paderbornagain is still in 5th, having now achieved a solid 7 point distance from the 6th place club (whose name shall not be mentioned due to my desire to spare certain posters feeling).
