Yes PDL- Central Florida Kraze. They play in Winter Park and had some doubleheaders at the Citrus Bowl.

    No W-League

So it's like 16 miles away from Orlando, how would you like a NASL team in Orlando?

There's no real market for an NASL team in Orlando.

It seems like there is a market for a USL-Pro in the city of Tampa, especially with FCTB playing in St. Pete.

No not really. Winter Park and Orlando city limits are next to each other. You can't even tell if you're in one or the other.

And really the only reason people say that they live, work or whatever in Winter Park is because it's the pricier/upscale part of Orlando.

Orlando City has done a better job or cornering the market in their city. FCTB hasn't been as successful. I don't think you can argue that.

Still doesn't explain what the Tampa Yankees have to do with anything.

And CCS is right. All FCTB has done is alienate Hillsborough. Tampa is ripe for the picking.

They could've made a better effort to promote the team at Steinbrenner Field. That's on them. Moving to the wrong side of the Frankland was a retreat.

Miami is also available for expansion.

Hey Puerto Rico why not, what could go wrong there?

8 thousand people showed up for the home opener last year at GSF. Around 5k for a few of the next games before things started going downhill.

Marketing last year wasn't really the problem. Playing at GSF another season was just out of the question unless the Yankees would have agreed to a FAR better lease agreement. Having to schedule games around the Tampa Yankees alone was nearly enough to force FCTB out. Way too many midweek games. That is before you get into the myriad of other serious issues with GSF, everything from fan experience to price to location, very expensive lease deal, etc etc

I really wish they could have come to an agreement with USF and at least stayed in Tampa until a better situation was sorted. But honestly I'm not too sold on FCTB's negotiation skills and I have no doubt that alot of the problem is with them rather than solely being a question of limited venues.

Although limited venue options IS a major issue for us, as with most other soccer cities.

I kinda understand their concern. They were also upset when AC St. Louis split their market when they went head-to-head with the PDL St. Louis Lions.

    Weren't they?

I was just wondering with all the front office issues maybe they wanted to put money toward rebuilding the team instead of marketing, maybe this upcoming year they will put money into marketing.

Pro teams don't go head-to-head with amateur teams. If that was ACSTL's approach, then they're dumber than we thought they were.

There is no connection withe the US U17 academy in Bradenton and the PDL team. Other then the fact that they use the same facilities. And there is talke with of the growth of the various academy programs around the country (MLS and other clubs) that maybe we don't need th set up in Bradenton any more.

The academy there is for the cream of the crop of U17 & U 17. So your talking what 30 maybe 40 players. In the whole grand scheme of things that's a teaspoon in a bucket of water. Your not grasping the concept that they have . They plan on bringing young players from the UK over and combining them with promising players from the US with the hope of developing players that can move on to better teams and leagues. Winning championships is a nice to have for them, it's all about developing players. That's why I don't realy think they are a huge imapct to the NASL team. Their goals are completely different. I view it similar to a minor league baseball team in the same market as a MLB club. Their goals are completely different.

You don't think having a USLpro team, which they will market to fans and attempt to make profitable, would potentially have a big impact on the existing NASL team?

    Are you daft?

Yes I am. I think my wife hacked your Bigsoccer account. :D

I think their break even point is going to be much lower and really not care if they put a ton of fans in the stands. But this is a guess on my part and your much more familar with the market. I was comparing it more to minor league baseball teams near MLB teams.

Has anyone heard anything new about this new USL Pro team? Finding information online is really difficult. I mean, if they are starting play next year then we should have some stadium rumors by now. I would be very interested to know where they are going to play. Maybe USF's new stadium?
