Jenna at All White kit just tweeted

Either have to find an expansion team or let MJ PLAY - or WPS will not be sanctioned... meaning NO WPS

They put themselves in a corner. Sure they can play as an unsanctioned, wild league, but do they really want to do that?

USSF and FIFA will not sanction them with only 5 teams.

The way I see it in order to save the league, they may have to do one of the following:

    a. Play as a wild league without USSF sanction
    b. Allow MJ back into the league
    c. All current 5 owners put in money to prop up someone else who may be ready to go but just doesn't have the money right now, like CT or Chicago
    d. Say the hell with it and disband the league

since dan thought he was going to have a team this year at fau in the new football stadium and is suing these fools as of this minute, why not just bring magicjack back? what's the point of all this nonsense? so, he is a bit crazy. so, he call fitz ghetto. the point is he made improvements at the end of last season, so grow upon that.

it obvious they thought CT would be replace MJ but that backfired. let him field his NT team and see what happens this season in the MJ vs WNY derby.

how hard can this be? if they have to put the signs in the stadium, so be it. if they have to hire a PT trainer, so be it. just bill him like last season.

he said he wouldnt pay but it's obvious he paid his bills. i'm assuming he passed on the fines but who knows?

looking forward like many to get our Jacks back.

18,000 were at the USA vs Sweden game, so the crowds are still hungry for Women's soccer, and i'm assuming dan is the only one who can table the money to get hope solo back on the field, and give her commercials like abby.

Obviously, no-one wants to see A or D. BOS's in no position to help with option C, but I'm sure Fitz&Sahlen have enough just between the two of them to help one extra team for one year. And honestly I don't think anyone currently in the league wants B. Even if they did, enough has happened that magicDan may just say "No thanks, I don't want to deal with you anymore."

(And concerning CT, I thought the problem there wasn't money, but just not having enough time to get things ready for 2012. I mean, the group didn't even surface until the championship game.)

One thing I've been thinking, though, is how strict USSF really is about this stuff. I mean, I know indoor soccer* has had four- and five-team leagues a lot in recent years, and WPS even began in 2009 under the "eight team limit", though my understanding on that was that they had enough expansion lined up for 2010 that USSF said "fine, you're good for now". If enough teams signs a letter of intent for 2013, couldn't that be an option E?

*Indoor soccer isn't under FIFA, though, so the comparison may be moot, I don't know.

Also, another question: her tweet said "per WPS union" - so is it really USSF and FIFA that have given the ultimatum, or has the player's union refused to play if another team isn't found?

From what I understand MISL indoor league is not sanctioned by USSF.

They could wing it with CT or even Chicago Red Stars. And I'm not saying Chicago just because I'm from here but because the organization is already in place. The Red stars owners know the existing WPS owners. They have a team, they have a stadium, they have the experience, they just need some more investment to bring them up from WPSL to WPS.

Ah. That would be another way to make that point moot. ^.^''

Yeah, I think Chicago would be much more likely that CT given the existing infrastructure, but I thought CHI was happy with the WPSL? How likely would they be to self-promote if they got the money, especially if it sounded like a one-year thing? I'm almost wondering if OCWaves would be a better option - of the three, it certainly has the worst travel, but they have the infrastructure and the ambition, and already were planning on 2013 (or so it sounds)...

Sorry for the double-post, but new tweets from Jenna:
So it's not "you NEED a sixth team in 15 days," it's "we'll give you 15 days to find a sixth team before making our decision". Probably the same sentiment, but definitely a different statement.

I'm still hoping for approval for the 5 teams we have conditioned on at least two new teams in 2013! *crosses fingers*

The CRS owners are happy with WPSL becaus it's much cheaper to drive to Milwaukee or Minnesota or Indianapolis for a game then fly the team cross country and put them up in hotels with meals, etc. Plus you don't have to pay the college players that are on your team.

I have been wondering why all the magicjack players outside of maser and KK have not signed with anything else. I am wondering if they have known this all along. It also sounds to me like FIFA and US Soccer are not per say ones pushing this, rather the players union is holding WPS to their rules.

For me personnally, I would love MJ to come back and would buy season tickets asap. They have worked out the bugs and have the means. Just tell dan to stay the hell away from the players and get it going. Also, does anyone know why abby is in miami? Is she meeting with dan?

I bet on D or A, I mean if they get Magicjack back, it just means they are not serious at all.

not a lot of signings are happening across the board... No CBA in place and that seems to be the issue with getting many signed

thank you. once he was pulled away from the players, what a team they became at the end of the season. a team we thought they'd be in the beginning. as i said, i saw improvement at the end of the season, so what was the wps looking at? and al davis was a rose in the side of the nfl owners for years, blow them off and the commissioner and moved to LA. and he was verbally abusive to many bottom players, but when they are men making six figures who cares?

i'd take bets on her visiting dan.

and i'd say he reads these boards and saw an out cry to get magicjack back.

sorry, for those who hate him but i'm cool with his nonsense if the players don't have to bother with him. and if i was a owner, i could care less about his actions, which wouldn't determine if i had a franchise or not. i think that is complete nonsense when people post that.

his little circus brings eyeballs and writers to the wps, but the fan only care about that star line up he puts on the field, as it should be. has it been any other way? let me know.

So now we get a better idea of what's going on. They haven't not sanctioned them yet. They're giving them time to find a 6th team.

Have you ever been on the board of a business or non profit? If you had you would understand how his decisions matter to the other owners who are all on the board of governors with him. He has missed a number of meetings, sent no representatives and then tried to gum up decisions that are made. Secondly, when league wide sponsors are being disrespected by a team who won't put up the advertising signboards that is a problem for the league as a whole (including the other owners) who receive cash flow from that sponsor. He finally did remedy that, but it was a battle and I'm not sure if he fixed it or the league forced it on him and got stuck with the bill until he paid it. Either way, as a fledgling league in a down economy who wants to put up the cash and wait to get paid in a business that is already operating at a loss?

Detroit won't support a team. Unemployement is very high there(over 10%) and the WNBA's Detroit Shock were only supported when they were winning. And even when they won people still didn't show up, hense why they moved to Tulsa in 2010.

I thought this when they said Detriot, who's going to the games, and what a horrible city to choos? This is another 1 yr solution. They won't have to fold this club, because it will be fighting for life by mid-season. Just make peace with MagicJack and get the season going. What the hell is the problem?

a - whats the consequence if WPS isn't sanctioned ? whats the risk anyway ?

d - is it possible to skip 2012 - regroup and start afresh in 2013, with expansion teams, existing teams can save on another loss year (def looks another one regardless if 6th team joins) - WPS can seriously rethink its model instead of blundering into another year

but then again missing a yr can be suicide for the league, with Olympics wasted - and nothing much beyond except waiting for the next WC. Relaunching a revamped league into nothingness won't work

I don't agree to kissing Dan's ass. He'll milk it and hold the league to ransom even more then last year -he did sabotage to the league then without reason, let alone now with the bitter smug smirk he's wearing. It might save the league one year - but don't want to see what it'll become

    Sponsors up

    Attendance up after WC

over 18000 - to see the NT in Arizona

    Olympics will bring additional hype

People come to see Dan's star rich roster again, not him with a beer in his hand

Where did he sabotage the league if attendance post world cup and sponsors are up?

Puma was gone with/out Dan b/c their 3 yrs was up.

So, tell me where he sabotage the league.

His battle was the president, and fitz. i'm a fan, could care less about that. Al Davis stayed in court with the NFL in the early yrs.

Help me on this one. what does dan have to do with washington owner jumping ship, jeff cooper, gold pride folding, red star not finding investors for 2 yrs, AEG running for the hills and so on?

Scapegoats are easy to find when you refuse to face up to your misgivings. WPS is messed up with or with out him.

up to 7 franchises in 2013 - this must be a joke. i'm guessing if they only get 3 than it was Dan, not their business model.

Dan wasted some rich boys and girls and hurt their feelings with Fitz at the top, did nothing but give the fans a GREAT product in FL. as far as him playing darth vader of the wps, he'd definitely need to clean that up. but as stated, he improved by the end of the season.

Those of us who were around in the WUSA era thought that's what was going to happen back then. But it took five years for them to regroup instead of one. If anything, I think it would be harder this time - two strikes, and you're out.
