Just getting the placeholder in place. Maybe start filling this thread by late December - give him about a month, maybe a month-and-a-half on the job? `
The existence of this thread with a month and a half grace period proves once and for all that the Krafts will never underestimate the gullibility of Revs fans. They will eat any old shit, and after complaining to start they will by April believe it was just the chef's off night and that if it is awful all the way to the end, that surely he can't be that bad, it was just a hard year. Rationalization isn't just a river in Egypt.
^ had me scratching at my screen trying to get it off. Anyway, time will tell. Although it seems like all time when it comes to the Revs organization is wasted.
That's it, that's the point. It's not about how good or bad Jay will do at the reins, it's about how bad an FO/Ownership Group we have that they can't find us anyone with better credentials than the color guy on CSN
What also sticks in my mind is what Landycakes said after last night's game, that their F.O. will give them the resources necessary to win championships. As he said that, my heart sank again, knowing the owner's attitude we deal with here. It's just the antithesis of what is the league ideal.
Why would either of you wonder that? There's a patriots game tonight, I guarantee you that in the entire KSG world, there was not a single television turned to the MLS cup, instead the staff was watching the Dolphins beat the Bills. In fact, how many people do you think were watching the Dolphins/Bills game? Probably damn near the whole staff. We are the bastard redheaded stepchild in this entire scenario.
I infact did, do you even think that any of the Krafts were remotely aware of MLS cup taking place? I think not, and if they did know, they certainly didn't care. In the words of Stewie "No Tommy Brady, no Stewie likey!"
Are you joking..! Kraft watches the national pop warner championships on the internet before he watches a Revs game..!
It makes for more entertaining television. You think Kraft sends more scouts to the local Pop Warner teams than he does revolution prospects?
I think that, to be a bust, you have to have lofty expectations that you fail to meet. A top draft pick can be a bust, but a late-round pick really can't. So... No.
You don't need lofty expectations, just expectations that you fail to meet. And given the tremendously low expectations we have from our new gaffer, here's hoping to Christ that he isn't a bust.
Two observations: We've collectively set the bar so low, will we have anything to complain about if Heaps gets us even halfway back to our 2007-era performance? Judging from his comments, the person who seems to have the highest expectations of Heaps is Heaps himself. Positive sign, or delusions of grandeur?
Positive sign. Heaps knows that all eyes are on him and that a lot of people are very skeptical that he can pull it off. He knows that on-paper he doesn't appear qualified and he doesn't pretend otherwise. He's honest about his situation and isn't trying to fool anyone. Yet he is confident and excited because he thinks he can be a good coach. He loves the team and wants to make it great. He strikes me as the kind of guy that can do this even when many people think he'll fail. Having someone in this organization that doesn't try to fool the fans will be refreshing. I'm willing to give him a chance. Pass the Kool-Aid.
I believe Jay Heaps should start his coaching/managerial carreer as a bust! Any person thinking that this is the organization that they want to begin as a coach, knowing it's stellar track record, should def begin as a BUST! And from the scapegoating of Nicol, the promotions of the two B's, the complete Apathy & disinterest by Kraft and the complete and UTTER complacency of the Revs fan base...Jay's mentors and father figures whoever they are should have DOPE Slapped him upside his head... Already a Bust...
Jay Heaps is on Extratime Radio. http://www.mlssoccer.com/extratime Just turning it on now, so don't know what's said yet.
Well Jay just announced that there is no contingency plan for if Joseph doesn't return next year Jay has identified 5-6 players as the core team and wants to build the team around them. Is Caraglio not part of that core looking at the protect list?
Meet the New Revs, same as the Old Revs. Repeat after me: There is no contingency plan for if Twellman doesn't return next year There is no contingency plan for if Janko isn't healthy enough to play the full season There is no contingency plan for if Dabo isn't healthy enough to play the full season There is no contingency plan for if Domi isn't healthy enough to play the full season There is no contingency plan for if "that guy from Turkey" doesn't sign with us Oh yeah, way to weaken your negotiating position, Jay. Pretty much everyone agrees that Joseph is in decline, and while he would be a good player to have around, we can't afford to overpay him, since that would leave a lot less money for all these great new signings Burns has lined up as part of his new role, now that he is freed from the shackles of Groundskeeper Wullie... By publicly saying that 1) Signing Joseph is a "priority" and 2) admitting that you've got no plan B if that doesn't happen is a clear message to Shalrie and his agent to hold the Revs feet to the fire for as much as they can get. Can't blame them, but it isn't too smart for the Revs to tip their hand. Did he mention any names? My "core" would be Benny, Joseph, Reis, Zerka, Caraglio, Soares, and Fagundez for the future moreso than now.
