I usually pull them off the list for the end-of-calendar-year update. That list is a mess -- but I hope to have it cleaned up by early next year. Oh, and of course some of these guys may play for other countries. I'm too lazy to remove them.
Dave, Blake Robinson is still at Bremen? that surprises me I havent seen that thread in a long time and the last time I recall reading the thread it didnt sound like he was going anywhere there.
Looks like he's with their U21s: http://www.werder.de/de/junioren/u21/ Based on that page, I think they play in the fifth division. I know about Gaitan, but have never seen his name anywhere on the club's web site. As for Gall and Bailey, they're news to me and I'll check them out. Thanks.

Thanks for posting. I've been wondering about Shawn for a few years, but I've never been able to confirm that he was a Yank. Could you share your source for this information? (If you don't want to post it here, you can contact me directly.) Also, I know he's now listed on some database sites as an American, but I don't consider them an authoritative source.
Story on Caleb Stanko at: http://www.ussoccer.com/News/U-20-MNT/2011/11/Stanko-Builds-Career-at-Freiburg.aspx
http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2011/11/17/postcard-mexico-bocanegra-turning-heads-atlas I suppose he should be added to the list, as he is a YA. But as far as him ever donning a U.S. jersey- very small chance. (Also posted in YA forum).
He was born here, but stayed for a millisecond before moving to Baja. Having grown up in Mexico it is understandable that U.S. Soccer had no inkling that he's a YA.
Honestly in this day and age with the internet that is not really an acceptable excuse. US Soccer should be tracking American soccer players abroad no matter where they are. If they can't do it hire somebody to do it for them. If this kid goes and becomes a star for Mexico it will be another blow equivalent Rossi and Subotic which have been PR nightmares for U.S. soccer. He is starter on Atlas and the Mexico under 23 team there is a good chance he can become pretty good. He probably could of been a starter on our U-23 team. It sounds like from the article that U.S. soccer had no clue he was an american. Not honestly the only way he plays for the U.S. is if he doesn't make the Mexico National team.
Don't get me wrong, I get the impression that this was a guy who was always going to play for Mexico, but cases like this are why I argued that we need Tom Rongen involved in the Federation in a scouting/recruiting capacity. It is obvious that coaching at the youth national team is not in the cards for him at this point, but he has something that he does really, really well and it is something that we could use. At the end of the day, it has to be about the DA for us but, even within the DA, we could have Rongen scouting for kids that have quality but need to obtain citizenship. He could be setting the wheels in motion. Honestly, a guy like Rongen could do a ton of good - as long as you keep him doing what he does well and don't ask him to do the things that he doesn't do as well.
I agree U.S. soccer should hire somebody or a firm that there job is solely to scour the globe for soccer prospects with U.S. citizenship or could be eligible for U.S. citizenship. In this day and age, there should be no excuse for U.S. soccer not to be able to get this done either by them doing it or hiring a firm to do it.
I like the idea but the internet doesn't solve every issue we have. They literally would have to call every club youth director to inquire and even then they may not have the information of where they were born or who their parents are. Then they would have to talk to every player about where they were born and who their parents were. Clubs in other countries federations would definately have a problem with this as a 'stealing' a player. Definately not an instantaneous endeavor. With worldwide turnover in talent and movement of players it may even be an impossible task. When do you want to know they are US eligible at birth or when they sign a development contract at 15 or when they get a first team start? Thinking this is a never moving mountain when its really smoke in a jetstream makes this seemingly 'easy' endeavor almost impossible.
He is coaching American Samoa right now - not involved in researching/recruiting for US Soccer at all. http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/ne...g-american-samoa-snaps-30-match-losing-streak From the article: "Rongen, born in the Netherlands, was fired as coach of the U.S. Under-20 team in May, and was sent to American Samoa in October as part of a goodwill exchange program between the U.S. Soccer Federation and the Oceania Football Confederation."
Don't forget Joshua G. Perez 98 kid who in September 2011 signed with Afc Fiorentina. First American kid to sign for an italien serie A. Youth.
Michael Hoyos seems to be realistic about where he stands internationally. We could still see him play for the US one day... http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2011/11/24/gringo-report-hoyos-working-his-way-back-car-crash Don't count him out just yet. Basically he is just being smart, keeping his options open...
Ok, so this was from UANL's U-20 game from yesterday. Who can tell me how many of these players are Yanks and/or Yank-eligible?
Well, there is the obvious six of Moises Orozco, Garza, Ocegueda, Navarro, Luna and Emelio Orozco. So there may be more, but I can start you off with the most obvious six. Anybody know of any others from that group?
