With all his injuries, Kaka may not be around in 2014

Recently, I was happy to see the re-emergence of Kaka and I was optimistic that the selecao would return to its glory days and then, BOOM! Kaka went down again. Kaka is injured again and will not play in the upcoming friendlies.
It's the same problem that I have with Ganso and Pato. Those guys are good but, they are not reliable as they keep getting injured too frequently. Both Ganso and Kaka have had major surgeries. What should Brazil do? Who will control the midfield in 2014? Ronaldinho? Give me a break! Although he has been playing well this year for Flamengo, I seriously doubt that he will be in a position to be the main guy. Brazil has got to find a strong, reliable and very creative midfielder. A healthy Kaka is the ideal player. Who else? Ganso? Well, if he is healthy, he can contribute but, he lacks pace. Lucas Moura? I'm not sure although he is very talented. Hopefully, a talented offensive midfielder will soon emerge and will have at least a couple of years to gain some experience with the selecao before the world cup.

Yes, it is a concern - he relies on power and mobility for much of his game. I see Mourinho is trying to pull him out of the Gabon and Egypt games.

Ronaldinho is more than good enough. I'd take him ahead of Kaka right now. Kaka is just too unreliable and the fact that he relies on pace too much combined with his injuries is not encouraging.

Are you kidding me Hendrix? I watched all 6 he played under Mano again and it is safe to say that Ronaldinho provided near to nothing in these games, he is pure dead weight in the middle. His presence is lethargic and his terrible work-rate screws it up for everyone else in the middle. In addition, he was so immobile and utterly static, generally speaking his set pieces were terrible, his passes inaccurate, and his dribbling ineffectual. Don't give me the crap that he adds a "techincal" element to the team, because other than the goal, he has done nothing to warrant a stay on the team.

I found your argument bemusing! Kaka is unreliable because he depends on pace? That's just silly man. I'd take anyone to Ronaldinho right now: Kaka, Hernanes, Diego Ribas, hell even Ganso, these guys put an effort on the field, Ronaldinho has been playing for the NT like he's on a free ride.

Kaka's injury is very minor, its a muscular strain which takes 1-7 days for recovery. I just think RM don't want to sacrifice his health for two "silly" friendlies.

I agree with you. I also hope that Kaka's injury is not serious. However, Kaka has been getting injured ever since he went to Madrid and that can't be a good sign. Due to all the frequent injuries, I don't think he will be the general of the midfield in 2014. The selecao has got to find someone else and it is not Ronaldinho. Ronaldinho has NEVER done well for the selecao when he was in a leadership position. I have said that over and over again. In 2002, he did well but, he was playing behind Ronaldo Fenomeno and Rivaldo who were the main stars of the team. In 2006, Ronaldinho was the best player and what did he do? In 2008, he was the leader of the Summer Olympic team and what did he do? I am not sure what makes people think that a much older and slower Ronaldinho can lead the selecao to glory. I don't mind him playing a few friendlies with the selecao so he can pass on some of his knowledge to the younger folks. For example, while practicing for one of the last friendlies, he showed Neymar how to correctly take free kicks.
If Mano decides to take him to the world cup, he would probably make a good bench player that can give Brazil 30 quality minutes if he keeps himself in shape. Brazil is in desperate need of a creative midfielder. Ganso is awesome but, he is not agile enough and he keeps getting injured.

Kaka is preety much finished he will never be like he was and same goes to Ronaldinho. But I would still rather Ronaldinho then Kaka.

Lucas Moura is one of the best attacking midfield in brazil, He is fast, quick acceleration, and can dribble. I think he is the new Centre Attacking Midfielder for Brazil.
How is Lucas Moura is passing and vision??

If Ganso becomes really good in the future then Brazil should play this Line up. If not then Lucas Moura should go behind them in Ganso posistion. Maybe Ronaldinho or Kaka will still come on and play abit

    Neymar - Pato - Lucas
    ------- Ganso ------

Kaka was the leader in 2010 and what did he do? Ronaldinho's experience and reputation is vital for this young team.

OK, OK.enough of this nonsense, Hendrix. 2006 was meant to be Ronaldinho's cup - remember? As Zagallo said: "One good game" (when talking about Ronaldinho in the yellow). Harsh but that comment has merit. I went to see Brazil against Lucerne XI and New Zealand immediately before that Copa. All I saw was adulation from the fans - Ronaldinho got applauded for merely going to take a corner. A hero to them in short. But being a harsh judge of a player, I examined what he did on the pitch and I saw square passing and very little mobility. Additionally, he rarely jumped for a ball and hardly put in a tackle. I then went to Germany and watched 4 of our 5 games: he was the same. He was 26 in 2006. He is now 31 and will be 34 when the Copa comes round. Do you really think he will do something at 34 he could not do at 26? I now think Mano's days are numbered: his experiment with Ronaldinho smacks of desperation. The best thing Ronaldinho can do is learn how to run again - employ a sprint coach or something. Speed and his undoubted talent will give him a chance. He has not played well on a consistent basis since 2005.

Kaka has not been brilliant in a Copa either but he has performed. I would go with him but he really needs to avoid injury.

Well you said it yourself, he was judged too harshly. The bar was set too high. But Ronaldinho doesn't need to be a world beater now, he just needs to provide some extra creativity and connect the lines, both of which he does quite well hence the improvement in performances.

We will have to ask FIFA to give us a special exception when we play - one that allows us to bring on a player to take toss the coin, take penalties and free kicks and rest on the bench in between! You might be satisfied with him, but I want more. He is cheating himself - and us.

I would rather Ronaldinho too, Because Kaka doesnt play Brazilian style and hes not like he was at Ac Milan and even then all he used was his speed.
Ronaldinho isnt like he was at Barcelona But ill still choose Ronaldinho. :)

Kaka will be 32 in 2014 and Ronaldinho 34. Honestly, I don't think either should be there. Both are pretty unreliable if you ask me. Kaka with his injury problems and Ronaldinho just for being Ronaldinho. I have seen enough of this scenario to know it only a matter of time before he eliminates himself from the equations.

I don't mind them getting call up for now if they are in good form but 2014 I don't think they should be there.

If they play good then it doesnt matter what age they are, but usually the 20s are the best years for soccer, while the 30s is usually the end of your soccer carrer of being at your best.
Anyway I think Lucas Moura will be the new Attacking Midfielder for Brazil.

If only he keeps his form... He was terrible for months, but improved drastically in São Paulo's last game. They still lost, but he made a golaço and some great runs.

They must stop comparing him to Neymar, right now there is no comparison. Neymar had more time to settle and that brought to him 5 titles and (up to now) 99 goals. Lucas is on his first year as a professional, too soon to be pressuring him.

I have a bad feeling that Kaka's career from 2010 until he retires will be plagued by injuries. He will play 7-8 games consecutively and then pick up a nagging injury. Age will definitely come into play and if i was a betting man I don’t think he will be there in 2014.

Kaka was the best player for Brazil in the 2009 Confederations Cup.

TO BE CLEAR, I am talking about Ronaldinho Gaucho not having played a good game for Brazil since 2005 (not Kaka)
