Ronaldinho was more entertaining to watch. An argument could even be made that at his height he was more entertaining than Messi is now.

In terms of production though, Rivaldo was and is better. Factor in national team performances and the gap grows.

I thought he was amazing... when he wasn't injured. Some of the goals he scored were... how would one describe them... typical Maradona? A lot like Messi's goals where all you can do is just laugh and applaud at the sheer wonderment of it all.
I can't recall the reasoning why he left. I guess the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao played a major part (huge fight erupted after the game that resulted in a Maradona having a long term match ban). Plus Napoli offered a huge fee as I recall. I'm not really the type who follow players once they leave Barcelona - I hope they do well but I don't go out of my way to see their games - but with Maradona I tried to watch when I could. At the time a local tv station in the San Francisco Bay Area used to show an Italian sports program called "Domenica Sportiva" and I always watched it just to see the Napoli highlights. I consider Maradona's time at Napoli to be the most enjoyable performances I've ever seen at club level. Ronaldinho and Messi at Barcelona rank just a notch below although Messi has done it at a younger age.

Yaya Toure netted the winner (and only) goal in the FA Cup final today for Man City...

He learned how to finish at Barça. ;)

I asked this in the Other Team Threads, has anyone else ever scored in an FA cup final and a CdR final?

The Barça connection (Rafa Marquez -> Thierry Henry) has produced a goal for NYRB against my Goats.

Eto'o had a brace today to help Inter win 3 - 1 over Palermo for the Coppa Italia. That's two italian cups in a row and seventh overall.

Well done to Eto'o! As LPB fans will testify to, winning the domestic cup is the greatest single achievement a club can accomplish in any given campaign. ;)

But seriously, well done to Eto'o.

Of course the domestic cup is the highest honor. There's only 20 teams in a league and there's like, what, hundreds of teams in the cup??

    ;)

To me that would prove that he's just in it for the money.

i dunno, that kind of money for a guy his age who has already won it all ... that's awful hard to turn down. and it's not like inter are going anywhere anyway.

on another note, remember this fella: Ludovic Giuly signs for Monaco

He's 30. There's still a few years of top flight football for him.

See, Giuly returning to Monaco to try and bring them back to Ligue 1 is the exact opposite. I can respect that.

We never used to get La Liga games back in the late 90's so I never supported Barca those days

so why did Ronaldo leave Barca after one season as I saw all his goals and his done real good for only one season

I guess he got injuries afterwards but still and I findit weird we attract the great Arg and Brazil players like Maradona, Romario, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho and Messi but never seem to keep them to long

I hope Messi stays for life though

etoo has won everything, what else is there for him to win at club level, maybe going into the EPL or ligue1 other than those medals from those leagues nothing else left.. he found a good retiring club

true...BUT eto'o was fantastic last season even though inter kinda sucked he managed i think 37goals..thats crazy. he has what it takes to play in the top leagues for atleast 2-3 more seasons, was disappointing when he left inter cause i knew he could have continued playing in the top leagues.

here are some more quotes from zlatan's book:

"Barcelona was a childhood dream and I was walking on air, It started well but then Messi started to talk."

"He wanted to play in the middle, not on the wing, so the system changed from 4-3-3 to 4-5-1."

"I was sacrificed and no longer had the freedom on the pitch I need to succeed."

"So I asked for a meeting with Guardiola - for a discussion, not an argument."

"I said I was being used in the wrong way and that they shouldn’t have bought me if they wanted another type of player."

"I told him what a friend had said to me - 'you bought a Ferrari but drive it like a Fiat'."

"The chat seemed to go well but then Guardiola started to freeze me out."

"I would walk into a room; he would leave. He would greet everyone by saying hello, but would ignore me."

"I had done a lot to adapt - the Barca players were like schoolboys, following the coach blindly, whereas I was used to asking 'why?'."

"I like guys who run red lights, not pedantic and strict rules. So I tried to be overly nice, didn’t dare lose my temper."

"But after this I stopped trying to adapt. For example, at Barca players were banned from driving their sports cars to training."

"I thought this was ridiculous - it was no-one’s business what car I drive - so in April, before a match with Almeria, I drove my Ferrari Enzo to work. It caused a scene."

"Pep was staring at me and I lost it. I thought ‘there is my enemy, scratching his bald head’. I yelled to him: ‘you have no balls!’ And probably worse things than that."

''You are s***ing yourself because of the lose against Inter. You can go to hell!’ I was completely mad."

"I threw a box full of training gear across the room, it crashed to the floor and Pep said nothing, just put stuff back in the box."

"I’m not violent, but if I were Guardiola I would have been frightened."
