Hmm the first two teams of the groups qualify (even the best third of the East-Asia zone) so it won't be a problem I think. What do you think of your U19 roster this year ? Any regular in K-League ? I'm really looking forward to watch this competition.
4-5 of the players in the announced roster will be registered K-League players in a few days after the upcoming draft. I reckon 1-2 of those guys will end up in Japan by the start of next season. Rest will go to university. There is one player in Gangwon FC [last placed team in Korea] who have been part of the national team system before but I don't know if he's injured or just didn't make the cut. I will tell you more about the squad as I learn them. It's still early in the cycle and the final squad will look very different. Park Jungbin of Wolfsburg will likely be there for the Asian Championship, and we have few others out there in Europe. Tell us about Japan while you are here. I heard you have a Sri Lankan player in your squad.
Yeah, Andrew Kumagai, his father is from there. Also, Shuhei Takahashi has a filipino mother, he's a defender. I think the team is pretty good this year but they might end up choking as so many other good Japan youth teams did before them. There is some players who were quarter finalists of the last U17 WC, some other are regulars in J2. Kazuki Kushibiki is on the verge of joining J1 with Consadole Sapporo and Yuya Kubo is a phenom who will probably reach 10 goals at only 17y old. Then guys like Ken Matsubara or Ryota Oshima who already tasted pro football but are not really settled into their teams yet. Some of the best players of the U17 WC are missing like Ishige or Minamino but that might because they found better and older players, we'll see. I just finished watching their games against Japan Soccer College (whom they beat 7-0) and Albirex Niigata and even though they lost 0-2, they were on a par with a pro team. Kubo is very Korean, judging by his style. I've heard about him, but it's the first time I've seen him in video. I think Oshima's size will get in the way of success. Wataru Endo did decent against Korea last time. We will see how he does against players his own age.

Qualification begins tomorrow. I don't know enough about this age group, but Do Donghyun is a personal favourite. Ku Hyunjoon nearly made it to the U20 team earlier this year [players born in 1991 and younger], and Lee Kwangjong called him up again to this U18 side. Should mean something. I have never seen him play before so I can't comment.

Meh.. Thailand was always going to be tough at home I guess. I think the team should have gotten in Thailand earlier. They delayed their flight and went 4-5 days ago because of the weather.

wow thats an awesome goal. Korea should've done better though during the match and leading up to the goal.
