I think Jaime Ayovi might have gotten injured again today. I stopped watching a little before he scored, but i heard he left the field and didn't come back.

believe it or not, i think this is troublesome. We can't play a qualifier game without a center forward and unfortunately jaime is the only one out of all the guys rueda called up, unless guerron can play that role.

He said its no big deal it was just a leg cramp and that he'll be ready to go. Guerron has played as a center forward with Atl Paranaense.

you guys know whats funny. Felipe Caicedo is out for 2 weeks due to some injury last game with his club team, so he wouldn't have made it on time to play the Qualifier games anyway.

Banguera; JC Paredes, Campos, Erazo, W. Ayovi; Valencia, Noboa, Mendez, Montero; Guerron, J. Ayovi

i'd keep the last 4 defenders just to test them out against a team who will really put them to work and see how they function. Besides that I'd give Mendez some minutes and start both Montero and Guerron. Possibly sometime early in the 2nd half take out Valencia and let Suarez come in.

and it'd be important and interesting to see how Guerron can play w/ J. Ayovi. We can't do what we did back in the day w/ Tin and Kaviedes and only have 1 good pair of strikers. We gotta make sure we can have more than 1 good pair. Whether it's Guerron & F.Caicedo, Guerron & J.Ayovi, Benitez & J. Ayovi, etc. What we do know is that F. Caicedo & Benitez doesn't work.

So now that Guerron and Noboa are out. And Castillo is joining the team. And Rueda saying that this game is an experiment for the Paraguay game I'm betting we are going to come out a little defensive.

if that's the case then he should not play with Paredes and add in Achilier to the right back position. we can't play with Castillo next match either if im not mistaken, and that means we have one more spot in the midifeld to cover. Obviously Saritama and Noboa are going to play. And I hope to God that vacant spot isn't for Alex Bolanos. Hopefully we start Mendez.

I'm assuming Rueda will use a 4-5-1 lke all Colombian coaches have done w/ our NT in these games.

Banguera; Achilier, Campos, Erazo, Ayovi; Valencia, Noboa, Mendez, Saritama, Suarez; J. Ayovi/Benitez

Rueda is most likely gonna do something like that. So IMO, he should give Achilier and Mendez minutes. Valencia should even try the center mid position b/c he could be of good use there against Paraguay if Mendez doesn't start. This is also a perfect time for Montero to get minutes.

Noboa didn't make the trip because of injury. And Castillo is supposedly traveling from Mexico. Bolaños didn't was denied his visa. And Michael J. Quiñonez joined the team too.

yeah i saw that. Thought it was really random how MJ Quinonez came w/ the team. Can't remember the last time i've seen him on the field he got lost deep in that chiquito team.

Ecuador played well. Some of the players looked tired. Montero needs more time to adjust to the team. He showed he has demon speed. Saritama, looked out of place.

I was happy to see Montero out there beating the hell out of their right back. and Erazo-Morante play well.

We had a lot of bad touches close to their box. We make a couple sof those bad passes and we win by 3.

The important lesson out of this game is that we can actually manage to find someone to step up and score it in crunch time.

Finding a way to win is just as important as playing well. Overall, it was a pretty lame game, but we managed to win.

not an interesting game to watch, it was a bit boring but the most important thing i saw that left me satisfied was the defense.

I really think that in our away games we should play the same 4 or at least the same 3 (Achilier, Morante, Erazo) in the back. Jairo Campos was tough to judge against Venezuela b/c he wasn't pressured almost at all. If he plays vs. Paraguay I hope he does good. What I do know is that Morante cleared 2-3 crosses that came in and were pretty dangerous. Dude's got height and anticipates really well. Him and Erazo are a great pair IMO. Achilier must start vs. Paraguay. He doesn't offer much offensively, but he's one solid player in defense. I liked what I saw from these guys. Walter Ayovi did better when attacking and had a few mistakes here and there when defending.

Montero was the stand out player. Him, Arroyo, and Guerron give Rueda plenty of options to sub in. Mendez was lost during the first half and did a bit better the 2nd half. Saritama wasn't really influential. Castillo did good, nothing spectacular. Valencia was lost the first half and overall had a regular performance. A few good plays, but not enough to cause much danger. I didn't even know Benitez was playing til I saw him a few times during the 2nd half. Overall he didn't perform how I'd expect him to, he was lost. Banguera had some pretty good saves and it looks like he's got the starting spot on the NT.

And Jaime Ayovi- big ups to him. This is what is making me really happy lately w/ the NT. The strikers are scoring. This kid knows where to be when recieving the ball and is finishing his plays when we need it. Although he does need to be more effective and maximize out of the number of opportunities he has to score.

Even if this wasn't an exciting game to watch, it left a good preview of what we can be displaying vs. Paraguay.

If Rueda uses a 4-5-1 I'd go with:

Banguera; Achilier, Morante (Campos), Erazo, W.Ayovi; Suarez, Valencia, Noboa, Castillo, Montero; J. Ayovi

This was a fun game to watch even though there weren't many chances or goals. I thought our positioning and awareness was excellent when defending. USA tried coming at us from everywhere but we managed to shut down every avenue with good anticipation something we have lacked IMO. What I mean is usually our defenders/midfielders would allow the ball to get to the man everytime then try to contain him now we start to see our guys step up and anticipate a pass and intercept it. Another thing we are doing well now is instead of recklessly clearing the ball out of defense and giving it right back we have improved and instead now clear the ball to the right areas to give a chance to our attackers to get the ball and counter-attack, we did this well against Venezuela as well.

Morantes and Erazo make a good pairing in central defense I was really impressed with Morantes, this is the first time I have seen him play and was really impressed. Montero looked good on the wing but from the times I've seen him at Betis he could do even more I would have liked if Rueda left him and took out benitez who looked tired to me. Overall we did well we looked in control and focused this is how we will have to play against paraguay.

Erazo and Morante played really well. Good anticipation from them. They should be our two CB's. Morante was a bit careless with a pass or two but nothing serious. Montero played well as well, and Arroyo had a solid game. Valencia didn't create danger but I think it was due more to fatigue. He looked tired IMO, he's played a lot of games recently, that's why I thought Rueda should have brought him on from the bench. Achillier had his hands full with that Shea kid in the 1st half and held his own.

Looking forward to the Paraguay game, a tie wouldn't be the end of the world, They're gonna come out strong and its gonna be a good test for us. Hopefully the players keeping playing well at their clubs and we can avoid injury.

Ours? I don't really care much for them either although it has a few cool upgrades from the previous one. The yellow one isn't THAT bad though, but the blue one is definitely uninspiring.
