MLS Cup Rematch SATURDAY October 1st 7PM Dick Sporting Good Park Tickets… Lads Night Out 2tix 2brews 2shirts $44 The away leg didn’t go so well for our lads. Dallas has been down just as we have. They have played more than 40 matches this season. The good news for FC Burn is that this is not a postseason match. It seems pretty obvious that you can build a list of starters with players that didn’t make the trip down to El Salvador on Wednesday. Last week’s starters were Matt Pickens, Kosuke Kimura, Marvell Wynne, Drew Moor, Miguel Comminges (Wells Thompson 89), Sanna Nyassi, Jeff Larentowicz, Pablo Mastroeni, Jamie Smith (Brian Mullan 58), Omar Cummings (Macoumba Kandji 65), Caleb Folan. Perhaps Omar doesn’t start since he was in El Salvador poaching goals down there. Maybe Mullan and Smith see the pitch at the same time since Thompson had good minutes in Matapan. I saw a suggestion on facebook that called for people to wear their Cup Championship gear. I like the idea, just thought I’d post it here.
Daniel Hernandez after Dallas beat LA in the Western Conference Championship last year. I expect Hernandez to get the official Class VI welcome to the Dick for 90 minutes on Saturday. Don't disappoint me guys! (Anyone else think we should give George John a standing ovation the fist time he comes near to Class VI? )
Dallas is coming back from Panama, and immediately have to go to Colorado. They started Hartman, Stewart, John, Loyd, Warshaw, Cruz, Benitez, Chavez, Galindo, Castillo, and Luna against Tauro. Not all of their normal starters, but a good set of them. On the other hand, all of our normal starters are rested. Just like the game against San Jose, it should be a good match-up for the first 60 minutes or so, then we should see more and more dominance as Dallas tires out. Given their travel and their recent poor run of form, getting 3 points is definitely possible.
Probably starting line up for this 'must win' match: ................. Pickens .......... Kimura .. Wynne .. Moor .. Comminges Mullan .. Larentowicz .. Pablo .. Smith ........ Nyassi & Folan .......
I'd upgrade that line-up from probable to guaranteed barring Smith pulling some sort of muscle in pre-game warmups.
I won't be surprised if Omar doesn't start, because there seem to be a lot of puzzling moves in that regard. However, does Omar have some sort of nagging injury? Otherwise, I would start him. The travel would be tiring, but then again, he only played 20 minutes, and came out of the San Jose game early.
Smith said in his Q&A this week that anyone who went to El Salvador wouldn't play more than a sub role on Saturday. Of course, to paraphrase the great Jayne Cobb, what Coach Smith says and what takes place ain't ever exactly been similar. As to some sort of "nagging injury" I'm not buying it. Whatever the injury has been hasn't prevented him from playing the full 90 for his National Team in the last 4 games over the last month+. Either there's no injury or there is one and the Rapids haven't done a good enough job of protecting their player when he's been called away (for a counterpoint, see the Galaxy getting Klinsmann to agree not to take PrimaDonnavan to Belgium for the U.S. game to not tire him out).
2-1 win, goals by Nyassi and Larentowicz. Dallas will be tough over the first 60 minutes forcing the teams to trade goals. With their midweek game Dallas will lose steam late and Nyassi's speed will beat them late for the winning goal. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2011/09/mls-cup-2010-rematch-part-2.html
To add to the rooting interest for some: "Suspended after next yellow card: Folan." (Also, Mullan and more troubling, Nyassi. Keep cool, Sanna.)

Hey, I couldn't make it either. Because of a freak injury in the family I ended up giving my tickets to a Mexisnob. I hope they are having a good time.
