The schedule is out, but the dates and times will change. The tv games haven't been decided, so expect some changes.

Does anyone have a link to the schedule? I will be visiting Prague in later this summer and would like to see if I could catch a game while in Prague.

Or just search Gambrinus Liga fixtures on google, and something should come up.

The first round started last night, Sigma drew 0-0 away to Dukla Prague and Bohemians 1905 defeated Slavia Prague 2-0.

In the games tonight, Ostrava started off the season much like last year and lost 4-3 at home against Teplice. Plzen struggled and drew Liberec at home 2-2. Pribram got a big 3-2 away win at Slovacko.

Two more games tomorrow, and one more on Monday.

Plzen qualified for the CL group stage. This is Plzen's first CL appearance, and first Czech team to make the group stage since the 2007-2008 season.

    Plzen's group is Group H:

    Barcelona
    AC Milan
    BATE Borisov
    Plzen

Well, honestly, Czech teams are never in a great position to advance, and this is no exception. Hopefully they can get some results though and put in a respectable.

Is it usual for some games to kick-off at 10.30 on a Sunday morning?

It's great for the city. They'll be able to see Barcelona and AC Milan in their stadium, for a decent price and no travel cost. That and the traveling fans will bring some money with them for sure.

Results wise? Hope and pray for Europa Cup.

Unfortunately, the games will probably be played in Prague. The stadium in Plzen is under renovation, but perhaps it will be finish soon? I don't really know. :)

All three players have been acquitted in the bribery scandal of Sigma Olomouc and Bohemians Prague (Strizkov).

Apparently, that doesn't matter to the Czech FA.

"The Czech football federation, which already fined Drobisz and Olomouc and deducted its nine competition points, said it accepted the verdict but its punishment remains in place."

So, a Czech court says there isn't enough evidence, but the Czech FA keeps the punishment?

Still a few more weeks to go until the season restarts. Most 1st division clubs have headed to warmer climates to continue their training.

    dobrý den

first of all i have to say, i am not that familiar with your league, although i know of course your players in the big european leagues.

so, i'm interested in the defensive midfielders in the gambrinus liga. which players where the main actors in the last autumn, or 2011 in general?

Can you name the 3 most valuable defensive midfielders in your opinion and if so in shortend form about their qualities?

    Hi
In my opinion the best and the most prognostic for future 3 defensive midfielders in Gambrinus Liga are:

    Josef Husbauer (Sparta)
    Vladimir Darida (Victoria)
    Mario Holek (Sparta)

    Cheers

With 4 match days remaining, the Gambrinus Liga is a three-horse race between Liberec, Sparta, and Plzen.

    Pts GD
    1) Liberec 58 +33
    2) Sparta 54 +21
    3) Plzen 53 +24

The only match left between any of these teams is Plzen @ Liberec on the final day of the season. I do think that Liberec has what it takes to hold on, but it should be an interesting last few weeks.

The other big story is that Banik Ostrava is in a fight to avoid relegation.

Also, after a terrible start, Brno have closed to within 6 points (pending goal differential) of a promotion spot with 6 matches left. It's very much a long shot, but at least there is hope.

Should Banik be relegated, and Brno fail to gain promotion - both the 2nd and 3rd largest cities in the country will be unrepresented in the top flight. It could also mean that no Silesian club, and only 2 Moravian clubs remain in the top flight.

Brno should be in the top flight. Way too big of a city to be in the 2nd division. I spend a lot of time in Velke Bilovice and I would occasionally go watch some games in Brno. Wouldn't necessarily say I am a big fan but I do want to see them do well.

Yes, being the 2nd largest city and having no topflight team is unfortunate. Additionally, Brno really needs promotion if the new za Lužánkami stadium project is ever going to regain any momentum.

As for this weekends action, Liberec put up another convincing win as they seem to closing in on a third title.

In the Jablonec and Hradec Králové match, David Lafata scored twice I believe his total is now 25 on the season (the next highest total is 14). He's already said in an interview that he would like to take one more shot at playing abroad.

Druha Liga update - Brno won again! We are unbeaten since the first weekend in November, and now just 4 points behind 2nd place with 5 rounds remaining. Ústí nad Labem are pretty much in the clear at 6 pts ahead of second placed Jihlava. F(a)K(e) Bohemians (Střížkov) are in 3rd, followed by Sokolov, and then Brno.

I'm still not really getting my hopes up about promotion, but this run has been pretty amazing considering how completely terribly we started.

I wonder who would take a chance on Lafata. He getting older and has really only had success in the Czech league.

I think there were rumors of Legia Warsaw during the winter transfer window. I definitely wouldn't expect a really big move, but I could even see him perhaps looking in Ukraine or Turkey.

Sigma Olomouc defeated Sparta Praha 1-0 in the final of Pohár České pošty (Czech Football Cup). This is Olomouc's first trophy. A nice milestone to close out what has otherwise been a pretty disappointing year for them.

Liberec slipped up yesterday with a 0-0 draw, if Sparta defeat Bohemians 1905 later today they pull back within 2 pts. of 1st place.

I'm currently watching Ml. Boleslav - Plzeň, mainly to check in on a few National team players. The match has been fairly even, I would give a slight advantage to Ml. Boleslav so far, but Pilař and Petržela have looked good at times. 0-0 at halftime.

The midweek results mean that for the first time, Gambrinus Liga will be decided in a head-to-head matchup on the final weekend.

    Slovan Liberec - Viktoria Plzeň

    1. Liberec 65 pts.
    2. Plzeň 62 pts.

Liberec have a considerable advantage in goal differential, but the Gambrinus Liga uses head-to-head record as the first tiebreaker. The first encounter between the two teams ended in a 2-2 draw. Liberec win the title with a draw or win, Plzeň need to win.

Sparta fell out of contention following their draw with Dukla.
