if you want to hear a true master of impressions, look up André-Philippe Gagnon. He came to Kandahar to entertain the troops on Canada Day while I was overseas, the guy blows you away. He sang itty bitty polka dot bikini in the style of Barry White while dancing like Michael Jackson, was frickin good man [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7-zHNRi7zg"]one man hit parade[/ame]
Saw this last night.... Very arthouse cinema in its film style, very little dialogue, and sudden change from subdued to extreme violence. As I watched it, I was reminded of David Cronenberg's "History of Violence" or "Eastern Promises" in a way, with a hint of "Blue Velvet" due to the musical score. I much prefer to pay to see movies of this nature than your average action-adventure film. Things I felt could have been sped up or elongated, elaborated or condensed, but overall an appetizing work from Danish for filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn. Cliff Martinez soundtrack did not disappoint as expected, adding a very ethernal retro feel. Acting was good, story was interesting though some of the sequences to me were pretty predictable... likely the fault of my own for having seen the trailer twice... the rest of my group hadn't read or seen a single thing on the film and enjoyed it equally as much. I think The Devil's Double will prove to be a better film come Oscar time. This was a solid effort however.
Looking forward to seeing it. Loved his other two films, surprised to see him doing a Hollywood film but that seems to be the norm nowadays.
I always wanted to rent his Vahilla Rising (sp?)... looks brutally savage, need to make sure I haven't had red pasta that night.
ya, I find Valhalla Rising tends to drag itself out, but that's kind of the purpose with the story, not a lot of action and explosions
Colts lost to the BROWNS of all teams. WOW. Life without Peyton suuuuucks. I hope we can at least win about 3 games this year.
Thanks for the impressions. Might check it out once it arrives here especially since there hasn't been that much solid to good stuff lately
The only American Football player I know is Brett Favre but I heared that he retired recently. Are there different "Conferences" like in the NBA or how do you eventually get to the Super Bowl?
Two Divisions (NFC and AFC). Each Division has 4 conferences of 4 teams each (16 teams in each Division). 1st place finishers in each conference (4 in one division, 4 in another) advance to knock-out stage, along with two "wildcard" teams (two teams with next best record in entire division). Top 2 teams with best record in the division get a "bye" in the first round, while the remaing 4 teams battle for a right to play in the next round. Winners take on top seeds for the a right to play in the Divisional title game (quaterfinals). The two winners of the Divisional title games (semifinals) battle in the Super Bowl (finals).
I cut down on my posting a while ago but sheesh I'm not even finding time to get on here anymore just to read! I have like 15 threads I'm subscribed to with new posts in them (that's a lot for me, before when I could be on here regularly there would be a max of 10 at once and that was rare.) School blows.
