Boo, freakin’ hoo. Detroit was once the richest city in the nation, and despite that advantage its liberal leaders didn’t have the foresight to attract other industries. Whose fault it that? And beginning with the Model Cities Program, Detroit has been the beneficiary of every liberal urban planning scheme conceived, yet it is crumbling today . The city is a testament to the failure of these well intentioned but destructive programs. Add unions to the mix and you’ve got a complete disaster.
You’re blaming Detroit’s decline on Adam Smith’s invisible hand? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2y8Sx4B2Sk"]You keep using that word. - YouTube[/ame] Ju keep jusing dat phrase, I do not think dat phrase means what ju think it means.
you are a simpleton...let's leave it at that since you are obviously incapable of understanding complex problems
Why don't you explain Detroit's decay in terms a child can understand. That shouldn't be too difficult, should it? Through my simpleton view I see the richest city in the richest nation reduced to a shell in less than 50 years and I'd like to understand why? You're smart, I'm not, so explain it.
you are a partisan hack who wishes to reduce everything to a simple red and blue...go figure it out yourself and let me know what you find since i grew up there I can critique your research and offer guidance on how to improve it good luck!
Once again, you don't know what's truly going as to why Detroit is the way it is. Kobran can confirm it, I can confirm as to what's really hurting Detroit. Comments like yours are similar to the ones every other writer/person (Regardless of their political leanings) makes despite not being to the city or only being there once or twice.
1. The Big Three. 2. The city and the state being reliant on one industry. This city could be a huge influence in tech and medicine if they got their shit together. Instead, people are still clinging to the past. Goes for both parties. 3. White flight and people leaving the city. Which leads to my next point... 4. City vs. the Suburbs. There's a bitterness between the two.
Tax cuts, austerity and relief from regulation. Oh yeah, and tort reform. Spruce the place right up...
I debated long and hard (at least 14 seconds!!!) on whether to put this in DFT or GOPFT, but it's a stunningly indictment of the failures of Obama's presidency from even before he announced his candidacy. The following chart is from Mitt Romney's jobsjobsJOBS Plan, and it quite clearly shows that Obama was a failure b4 even taking office: Psssst: Romney.... Dubbya was presidente back in 2007, 2008 and even into early 2009 Copied from ThinkProgress here.
I am not going to waste time arguing a claim that is inherently flawed and overly simplistic that you believe it is either an act of blind allegiance, or willful ignorance that you try and reduce a situation that is so complex to a blue state/red state thing shows how little you know about the situation...so yea...I have better things to do than engage with you on this...
Read the Kathy Giffords thread, the last 10-15 posts will explain to you why Obama is at fault for what happened in 2007.
Sounds like the states don't have even have standing anymore to challenge Obama's health-care law. Obama fail; he's really taken all of our freedoms away.
Some Democrats (well, at least this one) don't respect free speech. The MTA is a public agency. A politician is demanding that an advertisement be removed because he objects to it. Luckily, he's being told (in politician speak) to go die in a fire.
It happens, when atheist billboards started popping up, some politicians also called for their removal, it happens. Good for the MTA!
