Coach Mac's Corner Good morning and I wanted to provide you a quick update from the men’s soccer office. I wanted to thank those supporters who cheered on the boys this past weekend both here on campus and during our games at Herkimer County Community College. We truly appreciate your commitment and your passion to follow the team. We played a lot of soccer this past weekend against some good opposition and certainly learned a lot about our young squad. As we continue to evolve as a team it is great to have the chance to match-up with other programs and a good weekend was highlighted by a 4-0 victory against Monmouth University at the SU Soccer Stadium. Goals from Lars Muller, Louis Clark, Mawuena Agbossoumonde, and a Monmouth own goal was the reward for an excellent performance. http://www.suathletics.com/sports/2012/1/12/MSOC_0112123406.aspx?path=msoccer
Coach Mac's Corner Good morning and I wanted to provide you a quick update from the Syracuse men’s soccer office. The boys wrapped up their spring campaign this past weekend in Albany, N.Y. with three 45 minute games. The boys competed well and remained undefeated throughout the tournament with goals from Louis Clark (2) and Grant Chong (1). The boys and I wanted to thank Mrs. Smith for providing food and refreshments after our game. A very big thank you to Andrea and our SU parents who continue to generously support our team both here on campus and when we are on the road. Thank you and your support really makes a difference. http://www.suathletics.com/sports/2012/1/12/MSOC_0112123406.aspx?path=msoccer
The Orange men’s soccer team will play five teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2011, including the BIG EAST and Patriot League Champions, to headline its 2012 regular season schedule. The schedule, released by third-year head coach Ian McIntyre, also features the program’s earliest season-opener in history, as well as three opponents the Orange has never faced before. http://www.suathletics.com/news/2012/4/26/MSOC_0426123228.aspx
Coach Mac's Corner Good morning and I just wanted to provide a quick update from the men’s soccer office. With no game this weekend, our training program took on a slightly different approach as players jostled for final positions on our Spring Soccer Leader Board. Throughout the entire spring semester the boys have been competing against one another both on and off the soccer field. With still everything to play for the title of “SU Soccer Champion” has gone down to the very last week. http://www.suathletics.com/sports/2012/1/12/MSOC_0112123406.aspx?path=msoccer
Two More Added to Men's Soccer Class Two more student-athletes will join the Syracuse men’s soccer team for the upcoming 2012 season, Orange men’s soccer coach Ian McIntyre announced on Thursday, May 10. With the addition of Juuso Pasanen and Ben Ramin, nine student-athletes make up this year’s incoming class. Topdrawersoccer.com has recognized this class as one of the top 18 classes in the nation. http://www.suathletics.com/news/2012/5/10/MSOC_0510124915.aspx
Syracuse should be absolutely raiding TFC academy every year for players. Why they don't have more on their roster is beyond me.
Sophomores Jordan Murrell and Skylar Thomas each scored a goal and the Orange (8-2-0) was dominant defensively as it wrapped up non-conference play with a 2-0 victory versus Massachusetts (3-4-2) on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at Rudd Field. SU's win total this season now matches its most victories in a season since 2008, when the Orange finished 8-6-3. "I am very proud of the guys today," SU head coach Ian McIntyre said. "It's good to get a win on the road with the clean sheet. As a team, we defended very well and scored two goals at important times." The Orange controlled the majority of the first half, applying consistent offensive pressure. Syracuse registered six shots in the opening frame, including Murrell's strike from outside the box that found the back of the net in the 17th minute. http://www.suathletics.com/news/2012/9/25/MSOC_0925124836.aspx
The SU men's soccer team (8-2-0, 1-0-0 BIG EAST) seeks to extend its winning streak to three games when it continues BIG EAST play on Saturday, Sept. 29 against Red Division rival Cincinnati (4-4-2, 1-0-0 BIG EAST). Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Gettler Stadium. http://www.suathletics.com/news/2012/9/28/MSOC_0928120449.aspx
Rookie goalie Alex Bono has been named to College Soccer News' list of 11 true freshmen who are making an impact this season. Bono is one of two BIG EAST players on the list, joining Georgetown forward Brandon Allen. Bono has recorded six shutouts this season and limited opponents to just five goals. He ranks third in the BIG EAST in save percentage (.844) and fourth in the conference in goals against average (0.58). He was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week on Sept. 10, after recording two solo shutouts at the Mayor's Cup and contributing to a third versus Colgate. Prior to the season, Bono was tabbed as one of 10 freshmen to watch by TopDrawerSoccer.com. Bono and the Orange return to BIG EAST play Saturday, Sept. 29 against Cincinnati. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Gettler Stadium. http://www.suathletics.com/news/2012/9/28/MSOC_0928125443.aspx
Senior Lars Muller scored in the 93rd minute, clinching a 2-1 victory for the SU men's soccer team (9-3-0, 2-1-0 BIG EAST) against Rutgers (5-4-0, 1-2-0 BIG EAST) on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at the SU Soccer Stadium. With its ninth win of the season, the Orange has now won the most games in a season since 1999, when SU finished 11-9-0. "It's important to show toughness as a group," said SU head coach Ian McIntyre. "Not a lot separates BIG EAST teams, so to come back from the late [Rutgers] goal was very pleasing tonight." Syracuse first captured the lead in the 28th minute when a corner kick from Jordan Murrell found the soaring Jordan Vale, who headed it into the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season. The Orange used superb defense to keep the one-goal advantage for the majority of the match, as SU allowed zero Scarlet Knight shots heading into halftime. http://www.suathletics.com/news/2012/10/3/msoc_1003125706.aspx
