Thanks for your kind post. You guys more than paid us back when we visited Portland in June & helped us have one of the best away trips ever. We look forward to the Rapids - Portland games next year!

Broncos are in pre-season....Rapids are defending their cup. Clearly my priorities are quite different then theirs.....but, all said and done......point taken. I know it's gonna be quite the joint effort to be heard in Boulder. It's just bewildering to someone who despises any, and all, other "sports." Again though, point taken....not trying to bad mouth....just frustrated.

    Um, how does this:

jive with what you posted late last week?

Seems like you were promised sound for this game and they didn't come through. That's a black mark against them IMO.

It's always a risk when launching at a new place as they will always have an existing crowd which we must fit in to before growing & then (hopefully) becoming the majority. The BSG is going to stick with the Baker Street pub for now.

How many people from all groups were at Baker Street last night? Despite the sound issue is it a place most people like or think has potential to be a continued boulder viewing party location?

There are better places. Placest want us and will follow through.

I am NOT trying to pouch anyone nor is this to be in conflict between groups.

But please email me no matter affliarion or not so I can get a count and we can put together something solid. We had 30 at old chicagos on pearl and they played sound and there were ample tvs.

No agenda here except to get us boulder people a consistent place. If you are bsg and doubt me - ask Matt bumgartner if I'm sincere.

Either pm me or email me at mark@nofanalone.com

The boulder thing needs to be solved once and for all.

Pretty sure Old Chicago is "corporate".

The Bulldog Supporters Group will be going with the Baker Street pub for the next few games. The place fits in much more with our mentality & vision for growing the supporters culture in Colorado.

Old Chicago is a nice spot, I like the food, the staff are friendly & they tick a lot of boxes as regards to the way the bar is set up. But they are not a soccer place. They are more interested in Chicago teams; specifically the Bears, Cubs & White Sox. We really are giving ourselves a battle if we want to convince a bar to fall in love with a different sport in a different state to what they represent.

The Baker Street pub has the potential to grow into great a soccer place. We saw the same qualities in McCabes Tavern in Colorado Springs before we started pushing it as a viewing party location & that scene is now growing nicely. We hope to achieve the same thing in Boulder.

Good that there is a place that might be interested. The one in Belmar has never been more than, meh.

I'm pretty sure you're right, Drunk Cajun, they are corporate. If you are attempting to point out some contradiction.....you'll have to try harder. I only pointed out what could've been something good there. And yet, they failed us as Baker St. failed us as any corporate bar will fail us. So, my point still stands.....but try again, it's a fun game to play....it's like political rhetoric....yay!

PidArmy666, if you going to play 'political rhetoric' or similar, can I politely ask that you do it somewhere other than on the BSG thread?

It actually doesn't matter to the BSG if a bar is one of a chain or not. I take it this is the reason you are labelling them as 'corporate'.

What is important is how much influence the GM has over what goes on in the bar & whether he / she is on board with the idea of pulling a soccer crowd. The GM of the Baker Street Pub is good in both those respects, plus has the facilities to accomodate us so that is why we will be staying with them for at least another couple of games.

    Isn't every bar a corporation?

I'm really pleased that these bars are giving the growing CO soccer fan base another place to watch games with others.

I don;t how many independently owned"authentic Pubs" I have been to in CO that scoff at you if you were to ask them to put on a soccer game. Those places are just as lame if not lamer then the ESPN meathead sports bars that refuse to play soccer.

I think it's great what the Bulldog/ Three Lions have pulled off. They are filling a missing bar niche for soccer fans and are doign very well. I could care less if it's owned by a holding company or whatever they put on great parties and value me as a customer.

It's never been a better time to be a soccer fan in CO in part b/c of these bars. BIg up to the Bulldogs. Though I wish they change the name to the American Bulldog-better breed if you ask me, less gas!:)

PS I'm not in the BSG-I would never join a group that would have me as a member.

Rich, I have no problem dropping any of it....tis your very own Rick Spies that cannot. So, this is my final reply because one of us clearly has to be the bigger man. Lastly, in no way am I attacking the BSG, the Bulldog/Three Lions, or any other of your affiliations. In fact, it is great that there are some bars willing to show soccer matches when no others will. I wanted to voice my opinion about the so-called viewing party at Baker St. that was a bust, and this seemed the thread to do so. Clearly not.....apologies. RTID!!! Carry on.

I think you get what I mean - discussion about Baker Street & any other BSG thing is fine, trying to get one over on other posters not so cool.

Anyway, I am glad you have resolved your complete non-argument with Rick! :)

Right then Bulldogs (& all else sufficiently bored / interested in us to be reading this part of Big Soccer):

We are being moved to Section 117 (from 105) for the Santos & Real Espana home games. Your very cheerful reps (Gretchen, David & Lindsey) will be switiching the ST holders $25 3 game strips over in the next week so keep an eye on your accounts with the Rapids or Flash seats. Please be patient with them if you can't get through on the phone!

From Gretchen? I got it as well. As I say it doesn't quite apply to the BSG terrace people as we were never Section 105 ST holders. Section 117 is behind the goal in the south stands.

Pid Army are in 118. Class VI do get the west side - in Section 128.
