If Carroll has a poor 1st half I'd like to see Maxi come on for him and have Kuyt move up to striker and Maxi in Kuyt's spot. Maxi, Suarez, and Kuyt have tremendous chemistry with each other when they're all on the pitch.

I'd consider starting Maxi and giving big Andy a rest. Looked like he tweaked his knee yesterday a bit.

Playing Maxi would mean dropping Downing.

Playing any 4 of Kuyt, Carroll, Suarez, Downing and Maxi would leave our midfield exposed. If Henderson or Adam are rested it will be for Spearing.

That's the team. This is a good test for us as well, they're not going to make it easy.

Look for Davis whining himself into a yellow card.

I dislike the fact that KK is leaving players on form on the bench. I'm more of the " earn you're right to play, not buy it through transfer fees". I can understand that KK is sticking with the players he wanted to bring in, but that doesn't mean the results have to suffer because of that.

New players should blend in slowly, not gamble on starting them from the first match.

and, what results have suffered? i hope we've moved on from the first match of the season where a perfect volley by Larsson cost LFC 2 points.

Kuyt will start over Henderson in my view since Henderson just played the full game yesterday.

I'd love to see something like this as well

    ------------------Reina----------------------

    Kelly-----Carra-------Agger------Enrique

    -----------------Lucas----------------------

    --------Adam----------Downing-----------

    ---Kuyt--------Suarez--------Maxi-------

Let Suarez play a "false 9" of sorts, use Maxi and Kuyt as his foils, let fullbacks provide the width and overlap and use Downing and Adam's creativity to feed it.

Re: 08/27: Liverpool vs Bolton [R]

More like a perfect howler by our defence.......but that's besides the point.

I don't mind if KK plays Henderson as a RM, even if i think/know he's not ready and needs to work hard on his game to really be an use on the pitch simply because if he doesn't get a chance now, he never will when Gerrard and Meireless are back. I mean, the kid has bags of energy and all, but he just doesn't influence the game over the 90 minutes to deserve a starting spot in mi humble opinion.

If you ask me, he should be grommed slowly into the starting XI. Who here doesn't belive Spearing could do a better job TODAY than Henderson at RM?....that's a thought that has crossed my mind more than once. I was expecting Henderson to be more dominant against a club like Exester, but even then i didn't see once Henderson taking on his man, and even though i recall a good cross from Henderson into the box (not sure if it ended with a goal), but that's just not good enough to merit 90 minutes.

Plus, up front Kuyt + Suarez > Carroll + Suarez, not much i need to say there, since the stats (and last season) talk for themselves.

And maybe it's to early to talk about "lost points" (there wasn't much KK could do about that result, beside taking off Flano way before), so my bad.

Possible but the kid is 20 and it's three days later

And I love Kuyt but I am predicting what Kenny will do. Who knows Henderson could play with Kuyt if Carroll sits

That would require Kenny to alter his system. It would be nice to see that we are flexible enough to play with multiple systems.

Probably. But I get the sneaky suspicion that Kenny and company in the front office feel that the best thing for our club is Henderson playing matches. I think they truly believe that he's at minimum a difference in the making, if not a star, that will only take time to settle and experience before he's a top player in the EPL.

Now, that might mean Kuyt plays over him regularly this season, but I don't know.

As much as Kuyt is a good solider for the club and has been a good player for us, the better thing for the club might be him sharing time with Henderson.

Not so fast my friend, I would rather have wee Jay in the center of the park so he can harass and nip at ankles like he has been doing... And I don't get how our results have suffered at the beginning of the season, realistically before the season, I expected us to be on four points after two games. I just didn't expect to beat Arsenal at the Library and draw to Sunderland. I think we are sitting right where we need to be, as our squad gels I expect us to make a higher charge up the table!

I love this! Would love to see Kenny have the balls to bench Henderson AND Carroll (can't see it happening though). Maxi deserves a run out for sure. I'd maybe drop Adam or Downing and add Spearing as proposed below, but I'm ok with this lineup as well. Hell, it's Bolton at home. We should be taking the game to them

Right, after three games, he's sitting Adam to play two straight up holding midfielders at home to Bolton. I get the arguement to play Kuyt, but Wee Jay off the back of his first action being 90 minutes against Exeter?? I think not.

Expect one or two changes from the starting line-up at Arsenal.

Talking of which, why can't Kuijt be deployed ahead of Carroll, with Suarez and Downing roaming either side of him (Carroll, that is)? I think that may be more effective given the instinctive urge to launch the long ball when he is on the pitch.

At this point The King's Indian Defense, Samisch variation, is the soundest plan...
