Is this thread 2011/12 or 2010/11?

Both, started in 2010, but I think it is now used for season 2011/12.

I guess the season just started with Erfurt in first and Jena in last. Offenbach lost 2-1 to heidenheim.

Well gonna try again to keep up with 3. Liga since SV WW are still there.. Last year tried to keep up each round with posting the table and match scores but real life took over and I just couldn't find the time to keep at it.

Hopefully SVWW can keep healthy and have a good year and get promoted up to 2nd division.

So here's the current table heading into this weeks 4th round and next weeks 5th round. I am assuming it's a quick 2 rounds for making room for cup play.

    Table after 3 rounds
    place - team - w,d,l - Tore - points
    1. SSV Jahn Regensburg 2-1-0 7:2 7
    2. 1. FC Heidenheim 2-1-0 6:4 7
    -----
    3. SC Preußen Munster 2-1-0 4:2 7
    -----
    4. SV Wehen Wiesbaden 2-1-0 4:2 7
    5. SV Sandhausen 2-0-1 4:2 6
    6. FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt 2-0-1 4:3 6
    7. SpVgg Unterhaching 1-2-0 6:3 5
    8. SV Babelsberg 03 1-2-0 5:2 5
    9. 1. FC Saarbrucken 1-2-0 3:2 5
    10. Wacker Burghausen 1-1-1 4:4 4
    11. Vfl Onsabruck 1-1-1 3:3 4
    12. VfB Stuttgart II 1-1-1 2:3 4
    13. VfR Aalen 1-1-1 2:3 4
    14. Kickers Offenbach 1-0-2 4:6 3
    15. Carl Zeiss Jena 1-0-2 2:5 3
    16. Chemnitzer FC 0-1-2 4:6 1
    17. DSC Arminia Bielefeld 0-1-2 2:4 1
    -----
    18. Rot-Weiß Oberhausen 0-1-2 2:4 1
    19. SV Darmstadt 98 0-1-2 1:4 1
    20. SV Werder Bremen II 0-0-3 2:7 0

Well SVWW managed to lose to Aalen 0:2. :( Looks like the red cards from the previous match hurt them a bit and Aalen took advantage of it. Still early in the season though.

All round 4 games were today and round 5 will be midweek with 7 games taking place on Tuesday and 3 on Weds. Hopefully SVWW picks up a win and moves back up out of the middle of the table. I wish SVWW was streaming their matches.. heh

Wehen are widely considered to be among the favorites for promotion. Though you never know, last season Offenbach and Sandhausen were considered favorites (not to gloat, but I was skeptical about Sandhausen from day one last year, check this thread :D).

All three relegated teams - Osnabrück, Oberhausen and Bielefeld - as well as Offenbach with weak starts, while Regensburg and Preußen Münster start surprisingly good. Babacar N'Diaye scores for Preußen Münster - kinda retro, I guess.

I didn't mean in negatively at all, just amazing that he's now playing 3. Liga again - while nearing his 40s. His career looked pretty much over 3 years ago, he was a reserve player in the Regionalliga and then joined an Oberliga club.

I am shocked to see Regensburg tied top of the table with 10 points after 4 matches. IMHO, havign Michi Hofmann as the #1 creates a sense of stability in the back. Still, a long way to go but a nice start for them.

Half of my family is from Regensburg (and Straubing).

The other half is from Czechoslovakia.

Regensburg is hard to assess. All in all, they really have a squad of no names, and not very high expectations. So far they do good, though - on the other hand, they started very good last year as well, and everyone knows how this ended.

None of the favorites are doing particularily good so far, Wehen now with their second loss in a row. Bielefeld, who certainly aren't one of the favorites, at least get a point in Sandhausen. My darkhorse pick is Heidenheim. Of all the Southern German small town and village clubs who suddenly appeared in pro football, they are at least one of the best supported. Clubs I'd really like to see go up are Münster and Darmstadt - old school!

So after a very disappointing 2 losses in a row for SV Wehen Wiesbaden they pull out a win today to get back in reach of the top 3 spots. They could of been sitting on top of 3. Liga had they been able to win all 3 matches over the past week. It looks like their new signing payed off against Arminia. So now I'm just sitting waiting to see if hr-online.de will have a highlight video for the match. (god I wish svww streamed their games.. :p )

    Table after 6 weeks
    1 SSV Jahn Regensburg 4-2-0 13:3 14
    2 1. FC Heidenheim 3-3-0 11:6 12

    -----
    4 SV Sandhausen 3-2-1 9:5 11
    5 SC Preußen Münster 3-2-0 8:4 11
    6 SV Wehen Wiesbaden 3-1-2 5:5 10
    7 VfR Aalen 3-1-2 6:7 10
    8 SpVgg Unterhaching 2-3-1 11:6 9
    9 VfB Stuttgart II 2-3-1 6:5 9

I feel sorry for the Bielefeld fans - the club isn't much discussed here, but they are in the most severe crisis of any pro club in Germany in recent years. Huge debts still, the decline of attendances in the last few years has been nothing short of dramatic, and the hastily assembled new team has yet to show that they are up to the current challenge.

There's a realistic change that the club won't exist anymore in, say, two years time. At the very least, it will take decades for them to get back to where they were a few seasons ago.

    37 game-days on a relegation spot in a row.
    Harsh stuff.

I think its only expected when a top league clubs relegates down the system to loose that number of attendance, so no surprise to me.
