If he wouldn't have kicked the ball out.........

Shea had limited options and his best bet was to play it across the face of goal. Memo should've read this

Do your homework. Klinsy is not that good. What has he proved? He did decent in a WC where his group was easy. He took a BM team from good to decent. We haven't seen any interest in him for a reason. He hasn't proved anything on any level.

Last night went a little like this. New American faces trying to make the team for a new coach. So they played like it was a final. Mexico playing like it was a friendly. Some of the mexico guys need a new team, or a starting spot. I don't think they gave it everything. Listen you start the same gold cup lineup, and im positive we blow them away easy.

Highly amusing reading most of these post-game posts, especially from the Blog-ovites.

US fans must really have fallen hard if they are this happy over a 1-1 draw at home. I wonder had the game ended 0-1, if the Klinsmann love-orama would have reached these proportions.

And was there any doubt that Mexico is the US futbol measuring stick? If the US loses to Mexico, the whole US program is garbage. If they win, they are the World Beaters.

I'd like to see a few more games before declaring Klinsy the US Anointed One.

why are u guys crying that we looked horrible after the subs? if most of the subs that came on were pronounced better then the player they were subbed in for.

    Gio > Zinha...nuff said
Pina > Peralta...u guys said we wud be lightning fast with pina as a 9
Maza > RM4 .... mostly everyone agrees RM4 dont cut it at CB no more

    and yea barrera > hobbit, but we still wanted to see hobbit out there;

Is it just me or does an attacker running at Salcido now a days is just scary?

I don't think he'll make it in good form for 2014. Same goes for Torrado, Castro, Zinha, Rafa. Iriamos a hacer el ridiculo en el 2014 con la falta de velocidad de esos jugadores.

I never understood why some coaches beat around the bush rather than start to season the players we know will make it for 2014.

Obviously Torrado Castro were the right choice in the GC, but why don't we season youngsters in friendlies were it doesn't matter if we loose? I know the u-20's are busy and Zavala was injured, but I hope the youngsters play most of the minutes from now on.

After all friendlies a learning experience.

I agree with you here. The key with him is getting good assistants to support him. He hasn't named permanent assistant coaches yet but I think we'll see more of Martin Vasquez again. Klinsi's not really a tactical genius, Germany 2006 had a lot to do with his then assistant Joachim Low, he's more of a motivator. What was refreshing to see last night though was the smart tactical adjustments and the correct substitutions made in the second half. I'll give Bradley credit for achieving what he did as coach, but his subs never inspired confidence. Example being last night the insertion of Brek Shea. He's good at what he does, being a handful for defenders running at them with his size and speed, and that's what Klinsmann had him do. Bob wouldn't have given Brek as much freedom to attack as Jurgen did. Like you're saying, time will tell how the team evolves/improves/plays under Klinsmann in a more attacking style.

Lets not forget most of our players have been on vacation since the GC final, and it definitely showed.

Well you just answered your question. Zavala was injured and JDS and Cabrera are suspendend so that who else would be a youngster for the dmid position worth looking for? Toño Rios and the guy in Chiapas aren't worthy of a call up now and Reyes is in Colombia (and Enriquez is looking like he's not up to it). I just don't see anybody up to that position for now because of that stupid suspension for the Quito thing.

I know that's why I said from now on, as in the future, when possible I'd be nice if we could give them as much minutes as possible. But knowing how coaches can be...

I'm annoyed with how our coaches tend to have 1-2 dinosaurs that they refuse to drop in favor of younger players.

Chepo has an infatuation for Sinha and to a lesser extent Salcido. Sinha should not be in the discussion any longer and his participation is only harming the team.

Chepo's starting lineup had no bite and his subs only compounded the problems.

    My breakdown of the players:

Peralta had a nice goal but he is not a legitimate starting forward. He is slow and a mediocre forward. This is Sabah 2.0 and i'd rather see Fierro called in.

Sinha was great in helping us dominate possession but absolutely nothing came from all that possession. Our goal came from a set piece and some brilliant finishing by Peralta. This is Chepo's Conejo moment and i'm not amused.

Guardado has recovered his form but without a forward his talent is wasted. Guardado should have been subbed instead of Barrera because his defending is poor. Guardado used to be very good at recovering possession in the past but now days he is completely clueless when it come to recovering the ball or pressuring opposing players.

Barrera was the best field player on the field and the fact that Chepo has managed to plug him and Gio into the starting lineup is why I'm still confident in his coaching abilities.

Castro and Torrado were solid to start the game but they both ran out of gas and that's when we got overrun in the second half. Its obvious that they both are losing their legs and will not be able to do all the defending for our forwards and wingers.

Arellano is not a forward and while he showed some flashes his substitution was awful. We needed to reinforce the midfield not add another winger.

Juarez needs more playing time because his condition is poor. Removing him was a huge mistake Chepo should have moved him to reinforce the midfield.

Aguilar was brutally exposed by a horrible Hobbit. Aguilar entrance should have come at the expense of one of our wingers not Juarez.

El Hobbit was a complete disaster, this is a rerun of the midget from cruz azul. Its obvious that they are club players and should never be called up again.

Salcido was atrocious, he should not be starting at leftback. He was horrible at the Gold cup and his lack of playing time did not help his cause. Its obvious that Chepo is infatuated with salcido and is reluctant to remove him from the lineup in favor of a more dynamic Torres Nilo. Salcido has lost most of his pace and i'm no longer a fan and want him removed (this is Pardo all over again)

Marquez is becoming increasingly incapable of playing at the highest level as he ages. He still possess incredible vision but he is losing the physical ability to continue playing with the NT.

Moreno is a solid one on one defender but he is not a sweeper or a good option to bring the ball up. Its sad that a relatively slow footed defender is faster than Marquez and Salcido.

Ochoa save our asses tonight and while his distribution sucks its not really his fault that his only option is to blast it forward and hope for the best.

Chepo really screwed up this game with his bad game plan and substitutions. I hope to god that he drops Sinha otherwise i feel that the honeymoon period might be coming to an end.

I think Germany 2006 probably had more to do with the fact that he was coaching Germany.

They made it to the semi-finals after Klinsman in 2010. They made it to the finals before Klinsman in 2002. Quarterfinals in 1998, Quarterfinals in 1994, and champions in 1990 (well West Germany technically but still).

That's just where Germany's at. I think that 9 times out of 10, a coach accomplishes about as much as his player pool is capable of.

Of course the factors that determine the quality of a player pool are things that a coach is not directly involved with. But of course if you're a coach you don't say stuff like this during job interviews and press conferences.

For me, Mexico winning the sub-17 and being in the quarterfinals in the sub-20, and what I perceive to be a very talented current group of players for 2014 is more reason for optimism about the next couple of World Cups than any coaching appointment could ever be.

God............im just glad that in the near future will see Chichartio, DeNigris, Jonathan, Vela, Fabian, maybe Nery...................and either Giovani Casillas, or Carlos Fierro. Imagine those players with the likes of Barrera, Guardado, Juarez, Moreno, Arrellano, Giovani Dos Santos and so on. One things for sure my fellow Mexicans, the future looks brighter than darker peace! ;)

Efra at CM means Aguilar or Osorio at RB, Osorio is old Aguilar is meh.

The Reyes, Jona, Zavala options look promising.

Are you serious? Come on. I love the sub 17 and I'm super proud of them winning the title but it's lunacy. Maybe after he breaks into the league and shows something he can be capped but now? He would have been a disaster. They are way too young and don't have the experience yet as they are in another level.

I like Baez although I don't know how effective he is but I don't see what Chivistas see on Araujo. I really don't think he's all that at all. He has been given a lot of chances and frankly I think he's just alright in an MFL level and would have fared like Peralta and Hobbit.

I disagree about Araujo. I don't think he lived up the expectations we had for him after the U-17s but I think he could be a very solid destroyer for the NT. Baez would be okay the NT level...kinda like Castro.

I don't see it. He's been given more than enough chances in Chivas and the NT levels (back when the sub 23 was gearing up for the olympics) and I don't see much to make me see him as anything special. I think Chivas fans hype him up more because even when he didn't start for Chivas, they always bring him up as an option. Baez I think could be given a shot but I would like him to be in a minor game because I'm still not convinced he wouldn't pull something a la hobbit.
