Post anything and everything about our Bosnian Diamond, there's bound to be a lot of news lately Edin Džeko (Bosnian pronunciation: [ˈɛdin ˈdʒɛkɔ], born 17 March 1986 in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina) is a Bosnian footballer who plays as a striker for Premier League club Manchester City F.C. and the Bosnian national team. He was named Bosnian Footballer of the Year for 2009 and 2010. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, he is known as "the Bosnian Diamond."[4][5]
Edin seems to have found his form in the last couple of weeks. I knew a good pre-season would do wonders for him. He basically bagged 2 against Inter, and 1 against United, not bad.
Now all he has to do is score some goals in the first 5 games of the EPL. Maybe that'll shut all his critics up.
I was thinking the same thing. If he can somehow manage 3 goals in the first 5 matches, he should be set. It would buy him some time to adjust and find his form and hot streak again. I really hope he sees playing time since Tevez is likely staying now.
And Aguero won't make finding playing time any easier. But I have confidence in our diamond. He'll be fine... ... hopefully.
Someone made a good point that they'll need all of them at certain times through rotations since they have to focus on the FA Cup, the league, and of course the Champions League.
Guys, what did you think about the Community Shield? I wasn't there with you all when it happend, so what did you think?
I also missed it, but I don't understand why Dzeko was criticized. I mean, a goal's a goal and you can't say he didn't do his part. He was signed to score goals, not cross, not goalkeep, nothing eelse and he did what he was supposed to do.
The people that were critiquing him were some random United trolls who probably didn't even watch the game. Goal.com voted him the Man of the Match for City and he was by far the best player on the pitch for City. He controlled the ball well, first touch was good, and he scored a cracker to top it off. Can't ask for more.
He got stuck in, commited, and did just about as much as he could when he had the ball. Did his fair share of work in the first half, but completely faded away in the second, but mostly because City came out of the dressing room with no game plan. Shame, they could have wrapped up another trophy. Mancini is a joke. Hopefully Dzeko does more of this against Swansea, they're not going too good in defence, I hear. Many problems at the back.
Swansea will park the bus for sure.. Mancini needs to grow a pair and actually play an offensive formation for once.
Swansea is a nice club, I loved their football in the Championship last year. Dobbie, Sinclair, and Tate are some fine players. The game against City will be historical; the first ever game a Welsh club plays in the Premier League.
Mancini's defensive strategy has gained City a 3rd spot and silverware. He is doing just fine. Once the offense can be more consistent is when Mancini's tactics will truly shine.
I think last season is as good as it will get for Mancini at City. He just cannot deliver something like the Champions League or Premier League, he isn't an overly consistent manager and can be exposed tactically very easily, as shown against United, Chelsea, and Liverpool.
That's a far stretch considering last season the team was incomplete. Last year he was playing with one year players. Kompany, Kolarov, Silva, Dzeko. These guys are key to this years success. City played decent in the CL. This year a lot more will be expected of them. City played some of their worst football against a fit United. Yet the score was 3-2. I think they will do much better this year within the EPL.
Completely agree with this and theres another factor, experience playing together. This team has come together and matured in a way, including winning some silverware together.
Well, the Europa League is a completely different ball game. Mancini would be an idiot to play somebody like Balotelli in a big CL game to be honest, he might do something crazy like he did against Dynamo Kyiv and get a red card.
Let's focus on Dzeko again. I heard some people talking about them wanting him to go to a different team and I think that be such a stupid choice. He could create a legacy at Man City, in the best league in the world, if only Mancicni would play an offensive formation.
Sorry I made two mistakes one was that I included Kompany with the first years list and that was not so, he joined in '08. And two it was the EL not the CL. Different competitions, same mindset. As for Edin, the only place he could go to further his career would be Real Madrid and that is a long shot. Otherwise he is in the perfect position to make a name for himself. Tevez is leaving, Balo is in the dog house for Mancini and Aguero just signed. I don't think Aguero will have that big of an impact. I don't see a first year player moving from La Liga where the style of play is more technical then it is physical to the EPL which is an extremely physical league where you have to run like a horse. Perfect conditions for Dzeko to make a name for himself as Kap already mentioned. He is already on a two game goal streak so why should it stop there? I am positive that both Inter and United in a friendly are harder to beat then Swansea in the Premier. After that you have Wolves who have a shaky defense. Honestly Dzeko has it all in front of him right now. He just needs to take it.
I just hate the fact that Man City signed Aguero. Like, wtf? Other than that, everything has been good for City, in terms of Dzeko fufilling his role. He just needs to shut his critics up with good play in the beginning of the EPL seasn, as I have said before.
Nasri seems set to join Manchester City this week, fantastic news. I hope to see something like this - Hart Richards - Kompany - Lescott - Kolarov de Jong - Yaya Aguero - Silva - Nasri Dzeko/Balo Seriously dangerous team, all it takes is for Mancini to give them the right mindset out there and to pick something: Attack or defend. They didn't do either of those things on Sunday but it will surely change throughout the season, and it needs to.
I like the lineup, but put Balotelli where Aguero is and put Aguero on the bench. If Dzeko couldn't start for half a season with City, no one can. Not only that, but I don't see what he's done to be able to take the place of Dzeko or Balo.
Aguero is a world class player who was bought for 43,000,000 euros. He was also Argentina's best player in the Copa America and one of Atletico's best players if not the best in the last few years. He will definetly start and deservedly so.
