Great shots, yes, but will he do it in the Bundesliga when most needed??

Sadly, Arminia Bielefeld is going the way of the dinosaur.

    And I don't mean HSV........

Final 0-1 for Der Club thanks to Pekharts 80th minute goal off a cross by recently subbed in Hegeler whose first touch was that cross. Good way to start the season picking up 3 points on the road! :)

Next weeks match will be at home against Hannover 96.

Phew....3 points in the bag on the road! That was one of the ugliest, boringest matches I have ever had the misfortune of watching. Hertha were terrible. That's the run away BL 2 winner? They did not even have any tactics or game plan. Aimlessly kicking the ball around at random. We looked better, but not that much.

Hecking's strategy to press really hard in midfield seemed to throw Hertha off. They could not keep the ball at all. Cohen, Feulner and Simons worked very hard in the center. Chandler made soooo many runs down the flank. Defense is by far our greatest attribute. Wollscheid / Schafer were rocks as usual and Klose looked good too. Granted, that is probably the worst attack we'll face all year. Pekhart....eh. He needs to show a lot more and make better runs. Glad he got the goal, but I'm hoping he improves from this match.

The Hegeler substitution paid dividends quickly....assist off his first touch. Esswein looked ok. I was sad to hear Mak got a late abductor injury. I think he could have added a lot to our attack.

Expect a lot of 0-0 and 0-1 in our future. We will find it difficult to score but also to be scored upon.

Getting a 3 points on the road to start the season is fantastic.

Yea, very unpredictable as usual. I don't expect anywhere close to last year's finish. I think we will be near relegation / lower mid table this season. We have a great defense. If someone could get hot on the goal scoring front the league is open to climb up the table, but I'm not holding my breath. As long as we don't get relegated, I'll be happy!

Tomorrow's match should be a better barometer of our abilities. Hertha were just pitiful last week. Hannover is not a fluke from last year. They are still a very good team so it will be interesting how we fare.

Time to call upon the Nurnberg.tv service tomorrow for the match!

    Projected Line-Up

    ---------------------Schafer------------------

    Chandler------Wollscheid---Klose---------Pinola

    --------------------Simons--------------------

    Mak---------Feulner--------Hegeler-------Eigler

    ---------------------Pekhart-------------------

Main injury losses are Nilsson still out with his achilles injury and Frantz does not have match fitness.

This is the Kicker projected line-up and I find it rather surprising, but also welcome. I feel Mak should get a start. He is one of our few explosive players and adds a new element on the wing. Chandler + Mak is a dangerous combo. Though it is harsh b/c I think Mendler was fine against Hertha, I would prefer Mak. Hegeler getting a start after assisting the single goal against Hertha is rather aggressive. Not sure it is deserved b/c Cohen played fine and doesn't warrant finding himself on the bench. Hannover will likely start Ya Konan on the bench, which can only be viewed as a plus for us. Let's hope for a favorable result and a continued great start to the season!

I fear Ya Konan will play from beginning. He seems well and fully fit. This might be dangerous for our team.
He already played 70 minutes with his National team last Wednesday
    for the Ivory Coast.
So let us hope for Wollscheid & to make a good job in the defense and of
some goals of Pekart, Mak, Eigler Feulner ......
Keep your fingers cross. We need the points against relegation ! ! !

    Greet you all ;)

Hello to my friends of soccer and the club,

i saw the game yersterday and make now a short resume:

the first half with a good beginning the first 15 minutes - after they let the Hannover team come and showed their deficites in the midfield.
The first goal was shooten because Klose and Wollscheid were just watching.
A clear penalty because of Schäfer´s mistake.

In the second half I was pleased to see that the team showed its good will.
Pinola better than against Berlin, Chandler fast es ever but his last ball didn´t find the storm.
Pekart made a good game. Klose missed a very good chance to make the leveler.
All in all an avoidable defeat.

At least let us hope that Pinola´s injury isn´t too bad.

    WIR SIND DER CLUB !!

    ;)

Yea, pretty much agree with you. We looked good first 15 min and then in classic Hannover style they counter attack quickly for a goal.

Team showed a lot of heart in the second half and should've gotten a draw. We looked ok though. I like the pressing midfield style Hecking is employing this year.

How was the 1st goal a typical classic Hannover counter attack?

It developed from a 96-throw-in deep in Nürnberg's half and all your players were in position, Pinola didn't prevent the Chahed cross, Schäfer didn't go for the ball and Wollscheid lost Abdellaoue -> goal. Pretty simple and a very "normal" goal.

Actually none of our goals this season were counter-attacks.
