Use this thread to discuss our 1st step in the Road to Brasil 2014. In reality, when El Salvador kicks off qualification this September towards Brasil 2014, it will be Phase 2 out of 4 in CONCACAF. (Preliminary Round, Group Stage Round 1 - Semifinal Round - Hexagonal) But the title is appropiate because it will be the beginning for El Salvador in their quest to reach a third FIFA World Cup. Other appearances of course being at Mexico 1970 and Spain 1982. From CONCACAF's website : We will know our definite group on July 30th. These are the pots : Matches in this round will take place from September 2011-November 2011. After this round has ended (and assuming we have qualified to the semifinal round) Game-By-Game threads will be in effect from there on.
Integrated Sports is bringing soccer, the world’s most popular sport, directly to its most loyal fans in the United States beginning in September 2011. The schedule of games will be determined following the World Cup qualifying draw, which takes place July 30, 2011 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. First round telecasts airing between September and November feature such teams as El Salvador, Guatemala and Haiti, with more action to be announced following the draw... Article : CONCACAF Mens Qualifying matches... I'm sure Canal 4 will have us covered for ALL the ES matches. Just thought this piece of news should go in here since most of us are in the States and this thread will serve as the game thread for all the matches in the 1st round. If anyone remembers, this service charged 25 dollars per game during the last qualification process for matches vs Trinidad, Costa Rica and Honduras during the Hexagonal Round as well as a friendly vs Ecuador.

ESPN3 will apparently have a live feed of the event, which kicks off in an hour and 30 minutes from now.
Moment of truth coming up. We'll be fine as long as we don't land in Group E where Guatemala ended up.
El Salvador will face : Suriname, Dominican Republic and the Cayman Islands in the opening round of World Cup Qualification in Group A.
Our potiential opponents in the semifinal rounds : Mexico, Costa Rica and winner of Group B, most likely Trinidad. Ugh.
I dont care, we have to have the belief that we are able to get results vs CR & Trinidad, mexico is tough. Anything is possible, we showed in the gold cup and the past world cup qualifiers that we are able to compete and beat Costa Rica
Recap Upcoming Round : Group A El Salvador Suriname Cayman Island Dominican Republic Group B Trinidad Guyana Barbados Bermuda Group C Panama Dominica Nicaragua Bahamas Group D Canada St. Kitts & Nevis Puerto Rico St. Lucia Group E Grenada Guatemala St. Vincent Belize Group F Haiti Antigua & Barbuda Curacao US Virgin Islands Semifinal Round : Group 1 USA Jamaica Winner of Group E Winner of Group F Group 2 Mexico Costa Rica Winner of Group A Winner of Group B Group 3 Honduras Cuba Winner of Group D Winner of Group C
Well we've shown Costa Rica is beatable...Trinidad used to be a bigger name in CONCACAF but lately hasn't been as big of a force...now Mexico...hate to say it but they've stepped it up a bit...so it'll definitely be a challenge and if we get past that group stage than i would consider us ready to qualify for a world cup cause we won't make the hexagonal with luck but rather with skill...so time to work hard because it will be a competitive round.
