Thanks Mengão! It seems that we are posting much more frequently nowadays, we are one of the most active topics around here , let's keep it up guys! :D

Back on topic, **** yeah about Henrique. Henrique/Arouca/Elano/Ganso is a great midfield, we just need to work in the bench (Adriano and Danilo can cover DMF and CMF, but we don't have anyone that can cover Elano or Ganso).... We also need cover for LB since Alex Sandro is almost leaving and Leo is injury prone, also for RB (specially now that Jonathan is gone, it would be great if Danilo stays with us, but we need cover nonetheless because there is always the Pará menace), a good CB and maybe a good CF.

Let's see how Borges does with Ganso and Neymar when they come back, also it seems that we will get Alan Kardec for cover.

Danilo looks like he's going to move to Benfica, but we want to keep him on loan until December.

Henrique is an awesome signing, came out of the blue! looks more and more like Danilo will leave - but not for Benfica, but to Porto who seemed to manage and steal both him and Alex Sandro right out of Benfica's hands.

He's gonna play as an RB if he does move there, a position you guys know I really dislike him in cause of his defence, but with his frame, youth and athletic\physical ability theres no reason why he wouldn't improove understanding the defensive game, on offence he's great.

Gonna be alot more fun watching Porto now with Alex Sandro and Danilo running the flanks!

Really wanted Cleiton Xavier, always loved him in his Palmeiras days, sucks he won't be coming.

Seems like we are closing in on Ibson. Maybe he can be used on a Ganso/Elano like manner? Could add some much needed depth.

...Or if you are a pessimist, it means we will sell Ganso soon.

Ibson couldn't be a bench player. I wish Flamengo would stop going after Andre and go after an idol like Ibshow..:D

Yup. Ibson is a done deal. Busy day!

    http://globoesporte.globo.com/futeb...-russos-e-esta-perto-de-fechar-com-ibson.html

Mengão, can you tell us if Ibson can play in a slightly more advanced role, like a Elano role or a deep playmaker, or solely as a DMF/CMF?

    Henrique/Arouca/Elano/Ganso/Adriano/Ibson..... Feels good! :D

But it is very likely that Danilo is indeed gone... We need to move for a reliable RB with haste, the one we bought is a promessa!

He can play all 4 roles in the midfield. His best position is probably terceiro homem, but he can also play the fourth effectively. If Ganso leaves, I can see Elano and Ibson being the 3rd and 4th men.

Having said that, ****! ****! ****! ****!:D I can't believe Patricia Amadorim let Ibson go that easily. Awful. At least seeing him put a Santos jersey on is going to be easier on my eyes than when Adriano wore a SPFC and Corinthians jersey.

Is that 'bye-bye Ganso' in your opinion guys?

Any inside info about it inside Brazil? our midfield looks like real quality right now.. I don't count Danilo cause I think he's a goner - but Henrique is even better so imo we upgraded ourselfs.

And we talk about all these positions, but we still need help on defence man.. why didn't we make a move for Alex Silva? also what can you guys share about Leandro Silva?

We are spending money, that usually comes from negotiating players. Hopefully, it comes from selling Jonathan, Alex Sandro and maybe Danilo, so we don't have to sell Ganso as well.

Dunno about Leandro Silva. I'm very worried about our RB position...

    Danilo's twitter:

"Nunca faltei com respeito ao SANTOS e nem a sua torcida em momento algum! Essa suposta 'fala ' de um dos caras que sao da minha confiança é totalmente infundada, tanto que quem quiser conferir,ja foi retirada da materia onde ela foi publicada! Peço desculpa a torcida por esse mal entendido, mas, infelizmente alguns comunicadores sempre agem de má fé! #santossempresantos"

Maybe he could stay with us after all  He is saying that someone he trusts ( or used to trust) told a lie, and asks for the Santos supporters to forgive him for this misunderstanding... I'm betting that he is refering to his agent, who said that there was "no way that Danilo would stay at Santos to play the CWC, since he wants Champions League football"

    His situation is still uncertain!

Yea been waited to hear those news, having him rot in the bench wouldve been overkill with Ibson coming in and Elano that'll return he has really no chance to play.

Danilo's will is the only thing that can force us to agree to the offers for him.

I mean financially, it doesn't make sence to pass on him if we intend to play him.

We need to pay 3.75mil euros to have 75% of his rights and can trade him wherever.. if we do that we also keep him in the squad, not only do we enjoy another 1-2 years from him - we will still make profit selling him as a 21 year old for minimum 10 milion euros if not more seeing his high demand right now, it's only likely to increase.

But tbh when I see our midfield - like I said I don't think Danilo would start in my starting 11.. and as rightback I don't like him for his defence - so let's say that for a Rightback Danilo I don't think paying 3.75 milion euros is what I would do.. if we use it some of that for another rightback we could surely get someone better I think.

Getting 3.75milion from Porto for our 37.5% that we got for free anyways, and maybe force them to insert 20% for future profit clause(they always sell thier players for high amounts) and say, a Walter or someone else's loan would be for sure a better deal in my opinion.. what do you guys think?

I agree Muurad. Although I would use him at rightback if he stays. Anyone is better than Para.

Risky for that amount, but could be worth it. Do you plan to use him as a right-back or a right midfielder?

Was Walter included in the negotiation?

As far as I know, Walter wasn't included in this deal--apparently Porto plan to keep him.

And I honestly don't know where Porto will employ him since we've already got 2 quality RB's and a ton of midfielders. I guess we'll have to wait until he joins the club, and I'm not sure if it'll be right after the U-20 WC or if he'll stay with Santos through the Club World Cup.

Many prefer him as a right sided midfielder mostly because he won't have the defensive responsibilities required as a fullback. That is part of his game that needs to improve and I believe it will with the right coaching and time. I hope he grows as a fullback personally because those are harder to find nowadays than a midfielder.

Right now Danilo works better as a CMF... Though he can perform as a RB and will get better at that position as he learns how to defend better.

Insider info says that he won't leave for Porto right away but in 2012: IF we win the CWC, he leaves in January, if we don't, he leaves in July after the Libertadores.

It was a great deal for us, counting all the expenses we had with him and the share we had to pay for DIS, we still got a 6m euros profit, plus we still keep him for some decisive games.

Now I will talk to you, irmão luso, de homem para homem: O preço foi salgado!

A short summary, in English: he was abit overpriced, he is shy but as long as you give him time and confidence he will grow, and he initially wanted to move to Benfica... Though I really doubt he will regret the choice of joining you guys.

Thanks for the updates, guys. I think a lot of Porto fans are shocked by the price of this transfer, but I look forward to having him join us, whenever that may be.

Like Bakaman said, great deal for us.

Been trying to figure this out - who do you guys see as the odd man out in our midfield?

Assuming we'll continue the sort of 4-3-1-2 and Ganso+Neymar stays and Danilo plays RB, it means one of Ibson, Elano, Arouca, Henrique will be left out, probably to be decided between the last 2.

    ---Neymar---------------Borges/Kardec--------------------
    -----------------------------------------------------------
    --------------------Ganso----------------------------------
    ------------Elano----------------Ibson---------------------
    -----------------Henrique\Arouca---------------------------
    -Leo-----------------------------------------------Danilo---
    --------------Durval---------Dracena-----------------------
    ---------------------Rafael---------------------------------

Also I ruled it out cause of the reputation and value of both - but do you think Muricy would think it's ideal to play 3 man midfield with Elano and Ibson being 2 of them? doesn't add up for me tbh.

Or do you think it's more likely Ganso leaves and Ibson is here to replace him?

Form-wise, I reckon that Elano is more likely to be dropped for Ibson, to form a Arouca/Henrique/Ibson/Ganso midfield ( and what a nice midfield! )... Of course it depends on how Henrique and Ibson will do for us... Particularly I hope that Elano gets some rest, he needs it.
