    The less anorexic version, perhaps.

Wow. I wonder if she plans on wrapping up her career after the WWC/OLY ... or maybe she's just homesick or wants something different.

Sad to see her go. :(

Don't think of it as going away, think of it as coming home. Hey, maybe she'd like to play in Göteborg again, it's not so far...

Ripped from another thread, just because my point is quite tangential to there:

Please note the goalkeeper headgear. What did someone around here say about goalies and baseball hats? Oh golly, let's see if I can find that. Nope, didn't, but it was a picture of Angerer in a beat-up ball cap, and someone said something to the effect of you know that hat's been around the world three times and never been washed. Anyway, looks like Solo is one more for the 'filthy-hatted goalkeeper' column.

Ahem... http://www.schwulesmuseum.de/ , then click on "English" if required. This will get you to a blurb for an exhibition at the Berlin gay museum about women and football. The museum "invited artists, interested in using the means at their disposal to research the conflict between sex, (homo) sexuality and football." Some of the results seem rather chuckle-worthy.

They asked 1100 men who in the WWC was the fairest of them all, and they were told:

    1. Lotta Schelin
    2. Lira Bajramaj
    3. Hope Solo
    4. Amy Rodriguez
    5. Marta
    6. Kelly Smith

    Really?

    And from the German squad?

    1. Lira Bajramaj
    2. Kim Kulig
    3. Celia Okoyino da Mbabi
    4. Linda Bresonik
    5. Saskia Bartusiak

    Hm.... getting closer.

World Military Women's Championship in Rio de Janeiro from 11 to 24 July. I remember finding some live coverage online a few years ago. Let's keep our eyes open.

Marta? I guess she only made it, because it's the only name they know.

Our Danger Sassi in the top 5??

In my personal top 5 you would find Simone Laudehr and Lena Goeßling.

Why not? As far as I'm concerned, this is the only contest where she stands a chance.

I wish Lena Goeßling would sometimes look a little more... intelligent, then I might even agree with you.

Actually, I might vote for her, but I don't even know her name:

    Wow. One year contracts, huh?

The one year doesn't surprise me for Stensland, but I would have thought they'd want to keep Lotta around a bit longer.

If she signs, she'd be tied to OL until June 2013. Maybe they'll offer her a new extension at the end of next season.

After being forced to give 4 millions to fire CLaude Puel (the previous men team's coach) and buy his last year of contract, I think OL just don't want long contracts issues anymore:rolleyes: :D

At this time I would like to publicly acknowledge the importance of Lady Luck in any tournament, and also to send my best sympathies to Micol, kickinthehead, Bonnie Lass, Jenson, Smulan, and any others whose beloved teams have suffered at Her hands.

Canny Australians, disguising themselves as the Swedish away team in the hope of confusing the opposition.

Thanks, Ms. J. - Lady Bad Luck, aka, Ms. Neid needs to get canned. Sweden is now my backup team!

ditto....and since we gave Sweden so much heartbreak in the past, I think they deserve to have their moment of glory.

No need to watch any matches of other Swiss clubs anymore, Basel are signing everyone they can lay their hands on. After sneaking Jehona Mehmeti into the team in the middle of last season, they have now signed Switzerland's two greatest junior hopes, Chantal Fimian and Eseosa Aigbogun (whose name I can't quite spell yet ).

We have Norwegians that speak German, and all of them should be somewhat fluent in English. They can manage. It's obvious they don't understand a word Eli has been saying ...

    Le sigh.
