    Jorge Campos for Head Coach

SA Scorpions Front Office, if you're reading this, I demand this to be done.

He's helped with like 90% of things so far and he's turning into someone I think of when I hear someone say the Scorpions name.

Make him the head coach. He was an assistant for the Mexico National team and I know he knows the stuff. If you're gonna let him wear the jersey, let him be involved!

    Who is with me?

Don't believe he speaks English. He did not speak any at the uniform unveiling. Might be a good coach, don't know. Would like him to dress up on the sidelines in some of his wild goalkeeper designed jerseys.

No way. You've eaten a few too many worms from the bottom of the bottle. ;)

Seriously, I've met the man and he's a nice gent. But he's not the one to be leading an expansion team out of the tunnel for the first time.

BTW, Snr. Campos is a better striker than GK, IMO.

I know the whitecaps former coach could be a good addition of a coach.

I wonder if he can tolerate the Texas heat?

Jorge's - how shall I put this? - sense of commitment was never the greatest the last time he worked in the US. He has a lot of interests in Mexico and he always seemed as though they were more important to him than his commitment here.

Now, he may have matured some since his last stint in the US but past if often prologue. The last thing an expansion minor league team needs is a coach who is looking to jet back to Mexico every chance he gets.

I don't doubt his playing pedigree and time with El Tri as an assistant makes him qualified and he'd certainly generate a lot of interest in the Hispanic community in San Antonio (or anywhere he goes). But coaching, especially at this level, requires a lot commitment and grunt work and Campos never seemed like the type who liked either commitment or hard work.

It's still not a bad idea, though I figure Jorge could do better than D2 in the United States given his playing and coaching pedigree.

If you want an El Tri legend, they should contact El Emperador. Lopez's cameo appearance with the RailHawks last season seemed to partly be him looking for a team that would give him a shot at coaching (or being an assistant), as well as a change of scenery for 16/17 year-old son (they live in Los Angeles).

I was really impressed with the both of them.

Also Claudio Suarez tried to land the Chivas USA job with Wynalda and Ramirez.

Eric Wynalda is another interesting option.

In what way, exactly? Decent striker in his day, but not the greatest mind in the business. He's not coaching material, IMO.

Dennis Bergkamp ...... *cough* What ? He's got his coaching licenses now.

No but really, let's go for a huge coup and try to land Caleb Porter.

True, I don't know if he is the second coming of Jason Kreis, but he keeps getting involved with PDL, MLS and Mexican sides. He obviously wants to coach at a high level. Its interesting. I don't know if he could cut it as a good coach, but he would be highly entertaining on the side line for sure.

Not necessarily trolling Dos Santos is a good coach, there's a lot of front office interference in Montreal especially this year, which I think cause the horrible season they are having. That said I don't think he has the correct playing style needed to attract fans in San Antonio. Something like Clarke in PR, great coach horrible playing style for a Hispanic nation.

All these coaching changes in Montreal and Carolina got me thinking. When are the Scorpions supposed to announce a first head coach?

My latest discussion with management stated they are down to three candidates. I would think by the first of September we should know who it is.

Weel every body going to said that I am crazy and probably one to kick me kick me out of this forum but I want suggest cuban Tibi Lara, he was the person behin the cuban under 23 team (the same that tie with the USA on Tampa) he is right now on Miami, coaching on the Real Madrid Academic on that city and has won every single tournament that he has coaching so far. Good, cheap and excellent talent to deal with young players

I suspect Adrian Heath may be looking to return to central Texas when his contract is up. I'm not positive, but I think his family stayed in Austin when his job moved to Orlando.

President Michael Hitchcock posted on the Scorpions Facebook page that a big announcement was coming this week. Assuming it is the naming of the coach however, this morning the Scorpions announced a new community partner with a Mexican Restaurant on the Riverwalk.
