Those goals are for his agent to use to find him a new club. "Rakic just scored 4 goals in a pre-season game, he's sharp. Would be perfect for your club ... he wants to play for ________ (insert name of club here) and show he's a bigtime goal scorer."

    Löwen News...

    • The U19s lost 0-2 to FCK in the german championships for that age group. While at the game Schneider is accosted by some morons with bier, saying that he sold out the club. Such dumbasses really show their lack of class and intellect with such actions.
    • FC Rakic beat FC Rettenbach 14-0 yesterday. Rakic scored a hat trick, while th other professionals scored a few a piece. Wood was paired with Rakic but Mr. Ballhog kept it for himself instead of passing off for the kid to net a few more. Go figure.
    • It looks like Ignjovski is going to Bremen. Nothing confirmed yet but all reports say this is his likely destination.

Tough draw for us, but a good test early of our new team.

Well, and that is the other thing, too. We are not even sure of most of our Starting XI at this point. Perhaps SOME money can be spent for players between now and the time the season kicks off, no?

    Re: Löwen News...

I think Maurer has his starting XI. If I were a betting man, and assuming several of these players are still around in August, I think our team looks like this, with the midfield being a diamond midfield with Buelow back and Halfar as AM.

    [LINEUP-4-4-2]
Lauth, Volland (Wood), Biero, Buelow, Halfar, Aigner, Feick, Buck, Bell, Rukavina (Malura), Kiraly
    [/LINEUP-4-4-2]

The other option I could see would be the 4-2-3-1 with Stahl and Buelow playing DMs and Halfar playing an AM.

    [LINEUP-4-5-1]
Lauth (Volland), Biero, Aigner, Buelow, Halfar, Stahl, Feick, Buck, Bell, Rukavina (Malura), Kiraly
    [/LINEUP-4-5-1]

Either way, on paper, one has to feel somewhat positive about that Starting XI.

    Re: Löwen News...

Yeah, I think so. The depth bothers me a little, especially at center back and striker. I think we have the wing midfielders covered (Biero, Aigner, Halfar, Camdal, Volland, Ziereis, Wood), and the DMs (Buelow, Stahl, Schindler, Hoffstetter) though I wish we had some depth there too.

On another note, run these fan remarks through the Google translator today. It's about the bier attack on Schneider at the game yesterday. Many fans saying that the "Gruenwalder fans" should simply leave the club if this is how they are going to shame the club. One goes as far as to say to shut down GW stadion so as to take away the last platform for these fans to btich about. Frankly, that's not a bad idea.

    Löwen News...

It is amazing what stable money flow can do. The lack of drama at 1860 makes me feel like we are a real club again and not some soap opera. A few things in the news today:
    • The 2011/12 kit will be revealed tomorrow!!! If you go through the German thread here and page back and forth you can see a few of the potential designs the fans are putting forward. Oddly enough they have been pretty accurate in the past. There is speculation Nike might be a last mintue surprise sponsor of the kits, but all signs still point to Uhlsport.
    • The rumor making the rounds is the new sponsor will be Etihad Airways. A few kits in the fan section with this as the new sponsor.
    • Maurer lays down the law and says that Volland and Lauth are his starting pair. I think he is trying to send a message to Rakic that no amount of cheap pre-season goal scoring is going to change anything. He also says Hinterberger is looking at one of three MF candidates as well. My guess is a true AM.
    • Lauth was given the captaincy again over Biero. Maurer realized that Biero and Kiraly are also strong leaders and will meet with all three in training camp to discuss the upcoming season. He wants Biero to be able to concentrate on playing rather than leading.
    • 1860 is talking to Austrian right back Andreas Dober who currently plays for Rapid Wein. With Malura already on the squad that CLEARLY signals Rukavina is on the way out. Rumors are that he has offers from outside of Germany and 1860 is hot to sell him with offers alledgedly from Israel and eastern Europe.
    • The Merkur is reporting the club to be interested in Bayernliga scorer Florian Niederlechner from FC Ismaning. With guys like Wood, Ziereis, Sternesko and others coming up the pipeline, my bet is this kid is for the U23 team.
    • Kicker has an article about how 1860 is reconstructing themselves. No time for a direct translation but the highlights are:
      • Benny is very excited about the financial stability and "rescue" of the club.
      • He is happy that he was able to sign a contract and stay. He delayed in signing anything because the terms and money were not right as well as the license issues unclear.
      • A transfer came into question only when the future at 1860 looked unclear. Moving was not an issue but he preferred to stay at 1860 as long as things were stable, terms good and the future of the club looked promising.
      • He likes the goals of the club now but realizes that money does not mean automatic promotion. Everything must come together.

    Re: Löwen News...

I like that Mauer listed Volland and Lauth as his striker pair. Wood should be next off the bench, IMHO. There is no home for Rakic in Muenchen any longer.

Exciting times, for sure. And Sechzig has not even hit the pitch yet. I like some of the mock-ups on the kits. I hope it is something that would not look too hideous.

Let's see what comes of this.

This is Uhlsport's design for Union Berlin. i think we may get a blue version of this. I do not hate it but I like the extra touches some of the fan versions have added. The sponsor's logo has to work within the design colors (adding an orange trenkwalder on a blue and white shirt was bad and the Union Berlin's "kfzteile24" clashes).

    Re: Löwen News...

The one reason I don't think we will get another Lion on the shirt is because we did that recently. Unless the request came in from Ismaik I doubt they will do that. Stripes, evidently are out. We seem to go back to that every 3-5 years too. I think it will be a plain sky blue shirt with white piping.

    What's his name???

Remember the kid from Schalke who thought he was God's gift to football and walked out on Wolff 2 years ago? Well seems we have another ego brewing. Daniel Jais is a U19 player who posted some good numbers this year. His youth contract is up in June and he wants a pro contract. However, like most clubs, 1860 gives these contracts to most developmental talent based on the number of professional appearances...something Jais does not want.

Maurer's response? "Well, if he wants to go it is no 'broken leg' for us. We'll survive." In other words, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

The REAL way to tell if this kid has talent? If Tanner from Hoffenheim snaps him up then we made a mistake. If not, he's just another Marvin Pourie.

    Re: Löwen News...

im surprised it is "official" that its uhlsport, as in on sites usually u get a "coming soon" etc or an announcement of the sort , given the nike rumour id like to throw my hed inhte clouds and say it could be true for the lack of official uhlsport news

given the new investment and Ismaik influence and the possible "better appeal/stability" etc and etihad as a potential sponsor am thinking he may have managed to get nike to throw in a better deal penny wise , last min negotiation or smth

    again thats all speculation :D

i would just imagine nike had a more "commercial" appeal worldwide to Ismaik if he is involved at all

    ........

huh i think all the above makes some kind of sense :)

    Re: Löwen News...

Any conjecture can be true at this point. What I like is that our shirt announcement is coming our MUCH earlier than we usually do. In the past it has been late July or even August!!!:rolleyes:

I see announcing this early as yet another positive sign of change. I like the fact we are getting this out in early June and not waiting too long. And if the airline *is* the sponsor I see that as another positive. The name recognition and potential for more $$$. They seem to sponsor a Aussie football stadium in Oz so the money is DEFINATELY there.

In looking at the website, that stadium deal and construct look interesting. If this is something Ismaik can bring to 1860 I say "bring it on!!"

Uhlsport is not known for a Kappa-like fit. MSV and Union had them and they look pretty comfy.

The only time I saw an Uhlsport kit look tight on someone it was THIS guy....and a large burlap sack would look tight on him!!!!

Etihad Airlines is the Man City jersey sponsor so a lot of people are going to look at 1860 jerseys as Man City jerseys (particularly without a big lion).

    Re: Löwen News...

As the rumors are coming in, it appears that Etihad is a possible candidate for sponsorship due to Muenchen being a strategic destination for them out of Europe to the middle and far east. They have been flying out of the Muenchen airport since 2004 and have a thriving cargo business too through there. They are also looking at taking a stake in a Berlin-based airline, so the potential investment in the local market vis-a-vis 1860 make sense.

Well, we will find out if the rumors are true tomorrow. :D

My BVB Kappa jersey fits very well.

They don't just make skin-tight jerseys.

This was a concern when BVB went with Kappa, but it has not been a problem for us at all.

And you know I'm a fat bastard these days.......

But admit it. You probably had to buy the kit 3 sizes larger than you would for a "normal" kit.:D I wear a US Large (42 regular jacket with broad shouldser, small waist) and my Kappa Large fits me like a wet suit. I am not fat but no six-pack abs anymore either. I don't want anything THAT tight on unless I have an air tank strapped to my back and a regulator in my mouth.
