First death to report this season....

Komunalnyk Luhansk 17th in the Persha Liha quietly left the PFL Oct. 17th.

    PFL annulled all results.

So typical. Team was just promoted from Druha Liha!!!

    WTF!!!

Why win promotion if you are just going to fold if things don't work out in a higher class league? Why not play in Druha Liha and compete and nurture your players. This team was in the amateurs just 2 season ago.

Who is next??? Maybe FC Kharkiv?

    Its always $$$$$$....

But this team could of done themselves a favour by not pushing so much last season for promotion. They did an injustice by winning a "Championship" only to become "chumps" - losers!

Who knows what the situation is ? Today you are Surkis, tomorrow you might be dead or lose all your money.

In the case of that happening to Surkis - Dynamo would not fold.
Dynamo is bigger than that twerp.

    Two notables to mention....

Nyva Ternopil were promoted back to Persha Liha when they won the Druha liha hrupa A competition. It took them 7 seasons to regroup and get back to Persha Liha.

In Druha liha hrupa B in the penultimate game of the season between Zirka Kirovohrad and Stal' Dniprodzerzhinsk to basically determine who would garner their own destiny with one game to go - Zirka won the game 2-1 in front of 12,100 fans (The largest crowd in the minor leagues this season).

Next week all they have to do is not lose to Tytan and they will also go back up to Persha Liha. They haven't been in Persha Liha since 2002-03 when they became champions.

This is quite unusual. Was that the year when they were nearly bankrupt and were demoted from the Premier league straight into the Druha Liha?

    Yep...

That is what happened. In 2002-03 Zirka were champions of Persha Liha.
Were promoted and came bottom of Vyshcha Liha in 2003-04.
They went bankrupt and asked the PFL to be relegated to Druha Liha.
They lasted two seasons and folded after they could not reorganize their finances.

Then they formed an amateur team and played in the Kirovohrad Oblast competition in 2007 while at the same time Olympik Kirovohrad entered a team in Druha Liha for the 2007-08.

At the begin of this season the two teams did a name switch so that Zirka (which the team name that historically represented Kirovohrad in futbol).

Zirka has improved their performance in the second hald and have a sustained effort to move up in standard. Their stadion is not too shabby as it holds 20,000+.

    A team worthy of promotion.

As Kirovohrad is the birth place of several very well known footballers in the Soviet and early post-Independence times, I am very happy it's football is back on the map.

I don't think there is no reason about getting excited about the YKPAIHIAH minor leagues....

    BUTT

on the weekend the clash between the top 2 teams in Hrupa A - Bukovyna Chernivtsi and Bastion Illchivsk attracted a super crowd of 11,000.

The top attendance in Persha liha is 7,800 for Volyn hosting Sevastapol last week.

Out of curiosity, what were ticket prices for those particular games?

Bukovyna officially promoted to Persha Liha... (Last time they were there was in the 2000-01 season where they finished bottom.)
    They join Tytan Armyansk.

Nyva Ternopil officially relegated to Druha liha after one disastrous season.

I am totally happy about Armyansk. I spent two months there once. A nice little town, the size of about 10 city blocks, with a huge factory (called Tytan), 4 schools (one of which was called Tytan), a movie theater (called Tytan) located in the central (Tytan) square. Of course, this was 1987...

PFC Sevastapol and Volyn Lutsk were officially promoted to the Premier League after today's defeat of FC Lviv by PFC Sevastapol.

It will be PFC Sevastapol's first appearance in the top flight while Volyn returns after a 4 season absence.

I like how the players stopped as soon as the fans ran on the field. Like, "ohh crap."

MFK Mykolaiv (Druha Liha A) champions and Olympik Donets'k (Druha Liha B) champions are promoted to Persha Liha for the 2011/12 season.

Second placed teams will have a playoff match to determine who will playoff against the 16th placed team in Persha Liha.

FC Poltava will finish runners up in Druha Liha B and they await their challenger from Druha Liha A. Next weekend is the last game of the season in Druha Liha.

Its good to see Mykolaiv in First league. You would think the 9th most populated city in Ukraine would atleast have a team in the First League...

I find it a bit weird that you get teams like Oleksandriya making the Premier League though. It's basically a semi-city with 100k population. I don't think they will be ever able to have a crowd of more than 10k, but then again that's why their stadium seats only 7k...

The question everyone should be asking is not whether this town is represented or not but how come certain tiny towns are able to support teams and some average size towns can't.

THe answer is that some towns have sugar daddies, and some don't.

I think that some of these "average" towns are starting to wake up and invest in themselves and have something for their citizens...

In this year's amateur competion (4th level) there is a return of Krystal Kherson and Slavutych Cherkassy, teams that have shown signs that they could be returning to the PFL ranks.

The most intersting team in the Amateur competition is "Nove Zhyttja" from Poltavs'ka oblast (*cough* New Life...) a team that has several former international and PL players (such as former DK's Melashchenko). It will be interesting to see who will want to advance to a Druha Liha competition which has been far from competitive in many areas (with teams folding and poorly attended).

From your description that team's name is right on! Nove Zhittya is an actual village's name!
