Re: 2013 U-20 World Cup Roster Thread A 1996 earning playing time in the U-17 Bundesliga is a positive sign, but I'd think it more likely that Ebot-Etchi would be with the U-17 team for the 2013 cycle if he does play for the US. IIRC he's played for the German U-15 team. Though that hardly makes him untouchable and certainly doesn't prove that he's an integral part of Germany's plans -- Chandler, D. Williams, Hurzeler played for Germany at the U15 level, too.
Re: 2013 U-20 World Cup Roster Thread Also worth noting we have a lot of American internationals at Hertha... That should help.
Re: 2013 U-20 World Cup Roster Thread I was leaning to U-17 first. But, we all know how the "if your not in bradenton your odds of being on that US-17 team are lower" works. And, if he is a big prospect at Hertha he is not going to go to Bradenton. Thus, whats the next highest team? it would seem to be this one, he would be around 17 which is around Hurzeler/Salgado age this year. all speculation, but the Germans know what they are doing in this sport, so he might be a big prospect....... we will see.
Re: 2013 U-20 World Cup Roster Thread Yes, it's too early to tell if he's a big prospect or not. Even if he is, the U-20 team is unlikely this cycle. Typically there are a handful of players who play "up" a cycle, but they are almost always odd birth year players. 93s for a 91 WC, 91s for an 89, etc. As an even birth year guy, he'll be that much younger/less developed.
Re: 2013 U-20 World Cup Roster Thread Ya I expect the DA academies after another two years to produce some players that will come out of nowwhere. That combined with the dual passport kids should give us another solid group for 2013.
Re: 2013 U-20 World Cup Roster Thread Both the DA's are getting better each year. The Dallas Cup proved that with Dallas beating Barcelona.
MY MY what short memories we have There are at least 1/2 dozen players of 93 birth year playing now that have significant chances for thwe 2013 U 20 squad, A couple of them have been laying low this year recoverying from injury, or engaged in some private pursuits, but that doesnt mean they are not on the USSoccer radar.. Numerouas guys have been called into U18 camps this year due to the absence of these other notable players.. but I have a strong sense that a few of the absent notables are on their way back into the mix of things now....
Re: 2013 U-20 World Cup Roster Thread Obviously I need to be careful in what I'm saying and I don't have any proof but I've seen him playing and I've talked to a few people and to be honest, I'd be surprised if his age is correct. That doesn't necessarily make him a bad prospect but it puts a few things into perspective. He hasn't played for Germany's U15 btw, he was "just" invited to a training camp. The best ~100 get that chance.

Re: 2013 U-20 World Cup Roster Thread some updates: Nico Muniz, a '93(i think) has been signed by RSL to a homegrown contract Kellen Gulley, a '94 has been signed to Chicago fire as a homegrown Mobi Fehr is somewhere at a 'top club in europe' according to a guy posting in the yanks abroad section. There still hasn't been an official camp for the u20 team, but it looks like we are way ahead of the last group in terms of having players in professional environments.
Re: 2013 U-20 World Cup Roster Thread Villiyan Bijev Omar Salgado Andrew Oliver( huge Talent Here) Fabian Hurzeler Tyrone McCargo Sean Cunningham Juan Oceguedo John Brooks Luis Gil Charles Renken Jalen Robinson Jerome Kiesewetter( added 2 more assists in reserve play and inching closer to first team) Cody Cropper Danny Potts Marc Pelosi Mobi Fehr ---------- its a pretty strong core. it will get interesting.. U-20 coaches job not done yet: some recruiting of German-Americans Julian Green David Spies Junior Ebot-Etchi
Re: 2013 U-20 World Cup Roster Thread your facts are not entirely correct. Muniz did not sign contract. He is in spain. RSL is not in business of signing homegrowns not in college.
Re: 2013 U-20 World Cup Roster Thread What about the americans in brazil, argentina, columbia etc are they chopped liver. the pool is bigger than you know.
Re: 2013 U-20 World Cup Roster Thread Zach Pfeffer made his MLS debut with the start tonight for the Union (lotsa injuries got him his shot).
Re: 2013 U-20 World Cup Roster Thread Im just talking about the core not the pool................You know? As far as your comment, If kevin Hoyos wants to play for USA he will get called. Russo and Gaitan will be if they continue to advance they will get called. Kids in Colombia and Brazil? i only know of 1 thats a 93 or later the rest are older.....

Re: 2013 U-20 World Cup Roster Thread This made me chuckle..I'm sure Oliver will be a nice talent but you listed at least 8 guys who are potentially biggert talents
Re: 2013 U-20 World Cup Roster Thread What is your point? and how do you know this anyway? you don't. other than a guess. And if that little remark makes you chuckle.........well i don't know what else to say.
Re: 2013 U-20 World Cup Roster Thread We'll just have to see. As far as I know Andrew Oliver will be playing youth soccer at Indiana/Carmel United next season, then a year from now is off to IU. There are other guys on that list like Gil and Salgado that are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of Oliver in terms of professional development. Time will tell................
